Southern Ridge Golf Club
About
Southern Ridge Golf Club, formerly known as Bougainvillea Golf Club, offers some of the most stunning views anywhere in the valley. The South and Estrella Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the golf course. Southern Ridge is known for more than its views though, it has a unique layout that combines six par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The championship course plays to 6,751 yards. It offers a good amount of length for long hitters but it is still player-friendly enough for beginners thanks to generous fairways and large, undulating greens. Although the fairways are wide, don't be lulled into a sense of security. They are flanked with more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are enough challenges for an interesting round but it's not an overly difficult golf course.

The course is in fairly good shape. The is price is right.
The course is relatively easy. If you are a fair striker of the ball you can shoot some good scores. It is an easy walking course. The fairways are generous, not too narrow. The course has three set of tees for the men. This has proven to be good for the high handicapper. I like the price.
Not Worth The Time
Slooooooow play! Poor conditions of fairways and greens. The back 9 condition was a little better than the front. Look elsewhere.
OK course
This place is one of the cheapest courses I’ve found, so I play here quite a bit. I’ve never played the course in great condition, you get what you pay for and most of the time sub $30 you can’t really complain too much. The biggest beef I have with this place is the driving range it is terrible. They haven’t touched it, no marks indicating what distance objects are out there. Not a huge issue but come on.
A fun track
Have played this couse many times over the years and it's in the best shape ever. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Course is better. But Black Friday was way overcrowded.
The course itself was better. Still not great drainage. I understand its pretty flat but if they could fix that, it would be great. The greens are better but on one of them, they had what looked like mower fuel striped down one side.
The start time was PUSHED BACK 45 minutes. The manager was pretty rude about me asking questions. Then he did give us round to be used before the end of the year. They let a group of 8 show up before us and join a group of 12. not enough carts at that point. I am pretty sure if I showed up with 8 more people, they would have laughed.
Good deal for the average golfer and beginner, like us.
Good value for the course condition. We plan to visit again
early next year. Clubhouse was large and newer.
Good but needs a little work. Quite playable.
Green were good to very good. Fairways and tees OK but could stand a little upgrading. Bunkers average condition. We played for $25, so the value was very good.
Course not yet in good shape
I can tell they are trying to get course in better shape but not yet there, 50% of sand traps have no sand in them, Course was extremely wet due to overwatering, Chucks of grass everywhere from cutting. Greens were in good shape, Will try again at a later time
This course is very good for average to good golfers
Fairways requires grass mowing. few fairways are in good condition. Greens are in excellent condition
Course needs HELP!!!!!!!
This has to be the worst conditioned course in the whole state /it needs lots of attention !!!!!!!
A good course for the money
This was my first time at the course and I was pleasantly surprised, especially given some of the recent negative reviews. The staff was great, the greens were in good shape - a little slow but true. The overseeding was recent and the grass was pretty shaggy in some places. But overall I thought it was a great course for the money.
Fairly improved since overseeding.
Course was rough but better than before overseeding. Pace was pretty slow but at least there were marshals-- albeit hypocritical ones. Asked me firmly not to drive on the DESERT on par 3 holes shortly before driving off straight across the par 3 hole himself.
No complaints
For the price and the significant upgrades this course has made it is more then worth playing.
Course is long, but fair.
Long course is challenging for seniors. Fairways and greens in good shape. Fast play, great value. However, no ball cleaners or distance markers.
good deal for the price despite shaggy unkept rough, transition areas. Not scenic, flat. Not for out of towners on first visit.
Nicely groomed greens. Lumpy bumpy terrain made for rough ride.
Spotty but green fairways. Rough long enough - easily lose a ball-extend playing time. Nice challenge with each 9 with 3 3's, 3 4's and 3 5's
Needs TLC
Ist time playing this course and it needs a lot of TLC. Too bad that it has gone into neglect. The greens were great, but the course conditions, fairways, rough, cart paths, etc. need a lot of work. but for the price it was it was a good deal. They seem to be working things out, but has a long way to go. In a gated community and I feel sorry for the homeowners that have to look out on this course.
Fantastic Round
We had a great round today at the well maintained course. Greens were in very good condition rolling smoothly and a little slower. No bouncing. Fairways were in good shape. The staff was very happy and helpful.
Just out of overseed
The course was recently overseeded, but is in decent shape. This is a course that has some dirt off of the rough all the time. The fairways were ok, the greens were still a little slow. Most of the greens had some oil from a mower and that will kill the grass along those lines where the oil went down. But other than that they were rolling ok. The course is way better than a few years ago, with new owners that have cleaned it up. But there are still some fairway bunkers that are just hard dirt. But for the money and the uniqueness of having 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s, and 6 par 5s it is worth playing.
Value for 20 dollars
We both had not played for a month and it was a good practice round. It was also our first round in USA. We think there must be better courses for same money.
Great course, Great Fun
It Started with an excellent staff at the pro shop, then it moved to a very well maintained course. The only negitive that I had was no beverage cart on the course. But... for $ 20 I guess I can pick up my own beverage at an excellent little resturant that has a great menu and good service. Give this course a try; the old Boganvilla is long gone; Long Live Southern Ridge!!!
