Southern Ridge Golf Club
About
Southern Ridge Golf Club, formerly known as Bougainvillea Golf Club, offers some of the most stunning views anywhere in the valley. The South and Estrella Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the golf course. Southern Ridge is known for more than its views though, it has a unique layout that combines six par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The championship course plays to 6,751 yards. It offers a good amount of length for long hitters but it is still player-friendly enough for beginners thanks to generous fairways and large, undulating greens. Although the fairways are wide, don't be lulled into a sense of security. They are flanked with more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are enough challenges for an interesting round but it's not an overly difficult golf course.

Great course for the money.
The greens are in very good condition, the course is a left side fairway mainly (right side is trouble on most holes), has 3 men and 1 women tee boxes, there are 6 par 3's, 6 par 4's and 6 par 5's, the fairways are a little bumpy, but should be good in a year. Overall not a hard course, but can still make you focus on each hole.
Best Value For Price
There is a nice easy feel to playing this course. Staff are friendly and efforts are being made to improve conditions. Green are extremely nice. I would play here any time for the price. Best value in southwest area of Phoenix.
With a few amenities, and a little more attention to details, this would be a great course.
Easy playing course in great shape for the price. Nice pitching and putting practice areas, but driving range neeeds work. Restaurant was closed, and no cart service, leaving only a drink cooler in the pro shop as the only refreshment option. A good number of water coolers out on the course; although one had water and no cups, another had cups but no water. Ball washers are out of service.
Great value for the price.
Played a par 72 course for less than 15 dollars.
The fairways could use some attention to grow new
grass.
Can't beat the price.
The course still has a lot of play although there are a few dead spots. The greens were in good shape. For the price this course was great !!
Good easy course
Overall nice slow greens, fairways in good shape, but just don't miss them or your going to be in the rocky sandy desert landscape. Lots of par 5's and par 3's which I like cause too many par 4's gets boring to me. The only thing I really didn't like was the landscape outside of the fairways and greens but it is Phoenix and that's just something you have to deal with here at certain courses. Good overall value for the money cause I got a hot deal for $14 including cart and 18 holes!!
Value for the money
Course is under new mgmt, and while I was disappointed that the driving range was not available (under re-construction), the course itself was in very nice shape. Greens were particularly nice. When finished, this will be a very nice golf course.
Good value!
A nice course, it is wide open no trees lining the fairways, your only obstacles are houses if you are wild, some small trees that do provide shade, overall an easy course, greens are nice. Play was quick but keep in mind it was Mothers day, although everytime I have played out there the pace was fine.
course was a very good value
We played the course in3hours no hold ups at all. Course is in good condition the greens are very good.
OKAY FOR THE MONEY
THE GENTLEMAN AT THE PRO SHOP WAS NOT TOO FRIENDLY, BUT MAYBE HAVING A ROUGH DAY.
Good value
This course is a lot like me, short & wide! Really good value for the money, 30 bucks for a round includes a sandwich & a beverage. Southern Ridge would be good for an early season tune-up, or to boost your ego if you're in a mid-season slump. The staff, and other patrons, were all super friendly. I'll definitely return.
Course has potential but is pretty neglected at the moment. Only saving grace was the greens were in great shape for the most part
Staff is friendly and they had $1 draft beer specials. Course needs some work, standing water at certain parts of the course, fairways are decent but if you dont hit it on the fairway its dirt n hardpan or weeds you will be hitting out of. Had some good par 3s, rest of course kinda boring. Some nice mountain views were a highlight and offset the notsogood conditions. I live in Chandler and passed many better courses driving out to Southern Ridge. Wont be making the drive out there again any time soon.
Good greens
Greens were true, fairways pretty good. Some areas seem to collect too much water, but overall great value.
Enjoyed the quit atmosphere
For the first time in a long time I felt like I was playing golf and not chip, chip away…
This course has very forgiving fairways and nice greens. The putting greens are very fast but each course has its challenges. Enjoyed the very friendly service and all the other golfers were not stressed out and had a fantastic time. Cannot wait to play this course again, had a very relaxing game of golf.
Like the layout.
I enjoy the six par 3, 4 ,5 layout. The course is very forgiving, yet challenging. Beginning to dry out.
I LIKE THE 6 par 5's and 6 par 3 concept
course was fun to play and in great condition. the only thing lacking was the driving range needs some improvement
The course is challenging but fair to the average player.
I liked the course so much I booked another round the next day. The par 3's are the most difficult as they are long and we'll protected by deep greenside bunkers. All the greens were in excellent condition.
Solid entry-level course
Super-friendly staff. Greens, tees, and fways in decent shape. Well-maintained bunkers. No water unfortunately. Wide open for bombers. Cool view of the mountains. Nice little course to shake the winter rust off when visiting from the great white north.
