Southern Ridge Golf Club
About
Southern Ridge Golf Club, formerly known as Bougainvillea Golf Club, offers some of the most stunning views anywhere in the valley. The South and Estrella Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the golf course. Southern Ridge is known for more than its views though, it has a unique layout that combines six par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The championship course plays to 6,751 yards. It offers a good amount of length for long hitters but it is still player-friendly enough for beginners thanks to generous fairways and large, undulating greens. Although the fairways are wide, don't be lulled into a sense of security. They are flanked with more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are enough challenges for an interesting round but it's not an overly difficult golf course.

The bunkers were awesome
The course has been overseeded but the bermuda is still very apparent thru out the fairways and tee boxes. The area (open space) between the fairways and the homes, walls, and open agricultural fields is not maintained and rather unsightly. The greens were rough and rather slow. The sand in the bunkers was awesome.
Not much of a dress code. It was a pretty cold and windy day, maybe the reason for the lax dress code.
ACCURACY AT A PREMIUM, WHICH WILL REWARD WITH LOWER SCORES!!!
I had a great time golfing at Southern Ridge GC. Accuracy is indeed needed for this course. The dirt patches are difficult to hit from. The greens were in good condition and the staff was nice as well, very kind and friendly staff at the restaurant. I will return to play this course one day!
fun course, only issue was the amount of standing water.
play this course at least once a month, would be more if it were closer. awesome folks make it feel homey!
challenging with 6 3's 6 4's & 6 5's
Downloaded on sky caddie. Came up as Bouganvilla and #10 was actually #1. So original back nine is now front nine.
Enjoy this course! Greens and fairways very nice.
Very challanging course for all levels, enjoy the many par 5's
Course is making substantial improvements from previous owners
Needs Greenskeeper
Course has potential but probably due to financial situation. They have a greens keeper who doesn't know what they are doing. Their are several holes that have standing water around greens and fairways and also several patches in fairways where grass isn't growing or their are weeds. Greens are in poor condition. If the current owner needs to hire somebody that knows what they are doing or they will run the course into the ground like the prior owners. Also, the driving range looks like the range from Tin Cup. I hope that this course could reach it's potential but the current owner seems to be like all the prior owners. The philosophy seems to be put no money into course and don't put any profits back into the course.
really good price
was running late and guy at counter was a little upset, but still got us out. cant beat the price. and not a bad course, just not great
southern ridge on the windiest day in history
course was pretty much nondescript although the six holes of each 3, 4 and par 5's was cool. greens were in good shape and bunkers at greens were nice, but bunkers in fairways were horrible. not a bad round of golf for the price considering they give you lunch (yummy chicken salad sandwish I chose from options). Place was almost empty and I walked and did not get held up by any groups. All in all worth the price of 25 bucks.
good value for what we paid
course needs attention to their signs; water problem was huge the day we were there, otherwise I liked the course a lot.
wide open fairways; good visability as to where the ball went.
THE COURSE IS WORTH THE VALUE
THE COURSE HAS PLENTY OF PAR HOLES ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE ARE SIX PAR THREES, SIX PAR FOURS AND SIX PAR FIVES. FUN COURSE TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS. COURSE STILL NEEDS SOME WORK AROUND FARWAYS AND CART PATHS BUT COMING ALONG NICELY. SINCE NEW OWNERSHIP.
Tfhe course has always been to play
I have nothing but good things to say about this course. It is always in great shape and fun to play. The greens are in great shape and the fairways as well.
Well watered and green!
The course was in great shape. This was my first time playing since they switched owners. My only complaint was that they swapped the front nine with the back nine, and they had temp hole markers, some of which were missing. It also seemed like some of the holes were incorrect on the score card, where the score card said par 4, it was really a par three. Overall not bad!!!
A work in progress
Understand the course is under new ownership. Can see some progress and potential, but the course needs the work that is being done to it. Fun round; friendly staff. Good place to play with my young son. Look forward to playing it again to see the progress.
this course is a great value
the play on this course was at a pace that there was little wait on all the holes. the fairways were in very good shape but the greens could use a little work. the big problem still seems to be the standing water around the cart paths but it seems that this problem is being addressed. The staff was great and starting on the back nine now seems to relieve the backup at the start
Not great for peak season
Great value at $17 in December...but, course conditions were less than stellar. Aeration marks on tiny greens; wet condtions made several areas even tighter than usuual.
A fun course with 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s & 6 par 5s.
New owners seem to be trying to do the improvements the course needs to be an enjoyable golf experience. They have a ways to go but the effort is evident.
Uniqueness of layout makes this a must play.
The new ownership is making a serious effort to upgrade the course. New traps are coming in, the pro shop looks very professional and the staff is excellent. Improvements must be made to the driving range and there were lots of wet spots from watering, but overall, I will definitely play this course many more times. The 6 par 3's, 4's and 5's make Southern Ridge unique and lots of fun.
An "open" course that is fairly flat. Good for walkers.
This is an enjoyable course that will require you to use most of the clubs in your bag. It is well maintained, the greens being medium speed and true, and with a couple of spots that need attention on the fairways.
Formerly known as Bougainvillea
Under new ownership, the staff at Southern Ridge appear to be making some positive changes to this course. I found it to be pretty well maintained, and the price point is extremely good. During the winter months, when golf in the valley balloons in price, Southern Ridge is becoming one of my regular courses because it is inexpensive to play there. I recommend giving it a try. And if you don't like the facilities, there are some nice mountain views to take in.
Great track, soer greens
Played this Nov. 30th and in great shape after overseed. A super value for the $$s. Without a doubt a staff that cares about it's customers. We will be back for sure.
The Fairways of Fountain Hills Package
The Fairways of Fountain Hills Package
I know for a fact the new owner of this course has put in over a half million dollars on the course alone. The driving range is owned not by the golf course. The only charge for balls in $5 and the only reason there is that charge is to pay the people to pick up the balls. The owner of this golf course owns Las Colinas and Apache Creek. The course was taken over in October by new ownership. The course had to bermuda base at all. So from where the course was in October to where it is now is a 200% improvement. So the course has a good superintendent he can only do what he has to work with. if you can do it better please come in and show them how. Otherwise be realistic.
