About
Grand Canyon University Golf Course (formerly known as Maryvale Municipal Golf Course) offers an 18-hole track designed by Ted Robinson, Sr. and built in 1961. The par-71 golf course measures 7,269 yards from the championship tees and is open year-round.
The Bermuda grass Grand Canyon University Golf Course gets plenty of shade during the summer, thanks to several onsite trees, and features flat and wide fairways.
The fourth hole, for one example, is a 160-yard par-3 where you'll have to shoot over the water - and past the brick wall that separates the green from the water.

4 1/2 hour Root Canal
Horrible layout
Most greens raised and bunkers severely overdone ( size of semi trailers.)
Very convoluted hole layouts.
Holes passing each other on both sides.
Balls coming from all directions.
Should have quit early.
slow play
I don't mind walkers, regardless of age, but a marshal should step in when they get a couple holes behind and don't give a crap about people behind them
Excellent Course for the Money
We are on vacation from Minnesota, and ended up here because the price was right and we were intrigued by the fact that it was GCU's home course. We were a twosome, and played in 3.5 hours on a Tuesday. Excellent, true greens and the whole course was in great shape. Yes, there are a lot of traps, but the sand was consistent. Highly recommend it for value and experience
Great course. Deep bunkers
Classic design. Fast greens. You can score if you stay out of the deep traps. Good pace of play. Friendly staff. Great course for the money.
5 hr rd is way to slow for me but other than that the course was fun with well bunkered greens. Staff was great

Good course in good condition. Always play it a couple of times a year. One of the very best in Phoenix for the price. Suitable for the plus handicapper to your average 90s player
A Very Difficult Course!
This course has hazards galore. It has trees, water, roadways just bend the trees and more sand traps than Ak-Chin Southern Dunes. Our 2-some suffered 17 sand shots, 8 penalties with 5 lost balls and thanks to the fast sloping greens more than 80 putts.
Great value & experience
First time playing this course. Great conditions, wonderful staff, and practice facilities.
Greens were different than we're used to playing, but still true and smooth.
Great surprise!
Loved the layout and the playing conditions of the challenging green complexes.
Staff was friendly giving off a positive image for GCU.

Great conditions- Tough course
The course was in great condition. Fairways and greens were great. This is a tough course that’s definitely set up for college golf. The greens were rock hard. Didn’t put a mark on one all day. I usually have to fix a ball mark especially with wedges but not here. The rolled true. Overall a must recommend.
