About
Empire Ranch Golf Course, situated in the picturesque Carson Valley, features 27 holes of golf that overlook the Carson River. Located just minutes from downtown Carson City, Empire Ranch's three individual nines offer three different 18-hole combinations that have a convenient location but still provide a challenging golf getaway. The Comstock/River layout features lakes and wetlands coming into play throughout. The fairways are also well guarded by strategically placed bunkers. It provides a fair test, but the golf course is forgiving enough for beginning and intermediate players. In addition to the three courses, Empire Ranch also offers extensive practice facilities and a staff of PGA Professionals who can provide golf instruction.

Beautiful and Fun
This course was fun to play. Challenges were expected and delivered, but not so hard that the fun was taken away. Employees were friendly and helpful. Was able to start play an hour earlier than scheduled. Will definitely be back. Only uncomfortable part to the whole play was the smell of a dead animal near hole 6. Other than that, a perfect day at the course. Thanks to the board and course management for doing your best to make the course it's best.

Conditions not great
For value it’s good to just get out and golf, however lots of dry dead patches all over course

Needs a lot of work, fairways need filled,tee boxes need replaced and half the greens need repaired including the practice green.You should always have practice balls available.

Bad condition.
Several fairways and greens were pretty bad. I could move the ball on fairway but green is different story. But many greens I have to move the ball some distance to putt because in line grass has died that makes very bumpy and turned direction. It's not worth to pay and drive.

Good value
Found hot deals for 18/cart, used some credit I had and had a good round. Course was wide open, got thru front in an hour and a quarter, great time. Local muni course, nothing much more special

Good Value
Course was in fair condition. Greens were slow and winter damaged. Restaurant closed early. The insects were pretty bad.

Empire golfing
I recently signed up for membership here. I want to play more and it made financial sense over paying for each outing. The club manager made me a good pro-rated deal for the rest of the year.
I like the layout and the challenge of the course, although I have played tougher courses. The scenery and convenience for me is great.
The course conditions could be better. but not a game changer. The practice greens need to be groomed, and some of the course fairways need cleaning up. But I know the club has plans, so I am satisfied.

Greens in rough shape
Played on a cool, windy day. Got stuck behind a foursome who never bothered to look behind and see our twosome. At the turn, we skipped hole #10 and went right by them to #11 tee. They never noticed. Played #10 after competing back nine. Not a big deal, but it sure would be nice if some form of etiquette was followed. See this same kind of thing all the time at lots of courses. Overall, course was acceptable. Having played Empire Ranch a number of times, it's clear that they lack the resources and/or the initiative to maintain the course. The greens were quite poor coming out of winter. All in all, the price matches the expected conditions.

Good value for the money
The course is undergoing a lot of renovations so it is not in the best of shape right now. But all in all it was a nice course to play early in the year to get a little practice in. A good value for the money.
