About
Empire Ranch Golf Course, situated in the picturesque Carson Valley, features 27 holes of golf that overlook the Carson River. Located just minutes from downtown Carson City, Empire Ranch's three individual nines offer three different 18-hole combinations that have a convenient location but still provide a challenging golf getaway. The Comstock/River layout features lakes and wetlands coming into play throughout. The fairways are also well guarded by strategically placed bunkers. It provides a fair test, but the golf course is forgiving enough for beginning and intermediate players. In addition to the three courses, Empire Ranch also offers extensive practice facilities and a staff of PGA Professionals who can provide golf instruction.

The course wasn't in the best condition but again it was early on the season. Also, we weren't able to finish our round as they needed the carts back at the club house by 5:00 pm. When we booked our round this info wasn't provided to us. We weren't to upset though as we did get a great rate.

Empire Ranch
Course is in very poor shape. Almost every hole could be considered 'under repair'. It is early spring and the grass cannot be watered, but I would expect there to be dormant grass on the fairways which would green up once it is watered regularly, but on many holes there were great swaths of bare dirt. Going to need a lot of work.

Course
They punched the greens we could only play the front nine twice. For $28 we could have gone somewhere else. Waste of money

Greens terrible
The course was ok for February but the greens were terrible. Of course we did play in February so not much could be expected for this time of year.

Course could use some work.
This is a great little course. However, it needs some work especially since they raised their rates.

Ads everywhere and poor layout.
There are tacky advertisements on every hole and bench at this course. The layout was terrible and it was very easy to get lost. The tee markers are flat on the ground and impossible to see unless you're standing right over it. The guy at the pro shop wasn't rude but he wasn't very friendly either. He wanted carts back by 4:15pm, the earliest I've ever heard. I will not be returning.

Great value for a new golfer
We love coming here because it is cheap and not usually too crowded. In fact they’ve often allowed us to tee off early if we are ready.
The greens are in questionable shape and there is a bit of an issue with standing water on a couple of fairways, but you just can’t beat the $20-30 cost if you’re a new golfer and just trying to get some rounds in.

Worse than ever
Sorry, it's worse than after the floods of a couple years ago, Greens are in the worst shape I've ever seen, even had holes of one or two inches in some areas, like something is digging, bunkers are just wet dirt, it was such a nice course just 4 years ago....sorry... I can't come back.

Empire strikes back
First time at Empire. Overall I was impressed with the layout of the course. Greens are being worked currently. It appears that grounds crew is working hard to get it in better shape. There are times in the fairway there is no grass where there should be. A few areas where water is leaking under ground can make it mushy. Greens are looking better but still not in great condition. Sand trAps have sand, but hard packed from watering. I will definitely play it again.
