About
Empire Ranch Golf Course, situated in the picturesque Carson Valley, features 27 holes of golf that overlook the Carson River. Located just minutes from downtown Carson City, Empire Ranch's three individual nines offer three different 18-hole combinations that have a convenient location but still provide a challenging golf getaway. The Comstock/River layout features lakes and wetlands coming into play throughout. The fairways are also well guarded by strategically placed bunkers. It provides a fair test, but the golf course is forgiving enough for beginning and intermediate players. In addition to the three courses, Empire Ranch also offers extensive practice facilities and a staff of PGA Professionals who can provide golf instruction.

Greens terrible
The course was ok for February but the greens were terrible. Of course we did play in February so not much could be expected for this time of year.
Course could use some work.
This is a great little course. However, it needs some work especially since they raised their rates.

Ads everywhere and poor layout.
There are tacky advertisements on every hole and bench at this course. The layout was terrible and it was very easy to get lost. The tee markers are flat on the ground and impossible to see unless you're standing right over it. The guy at the pro shop wasn't rude but he wasn't very friendly either. He wanted carts back by 4:15pm, the earliest I've ever heard. I will not be returning.

Great value for a new golfer
We love coming here because it is cheap and not usually too crowded. In fact they’ve often allowed us to tee off early if we are ready.
The greens are in questionable shape and there is a bit of an issue with standing water on a couple of fairways, but you just can’t beat the $20-30 cost if you’re a new golfer and just trying to get some rounds in.

This time of year it is expected to be a little rough - some of the greens had significant damage and bumpy.

Worse than ever
Sorry, it's worse than after the floods of a couple years ago, Greens are in the worst shape I've ever seen, even had holes of one or two inches in some areas, like something is digging, bunkers are just wet dirt, it was such a nice course just 4 years ago....sorry... I can't come back.

Empire strikes back
First time at Empire. Overall I was impressed with the layout of the course. Greens are being worked currently. It appears that grounds crew is working hard to get it in better shape. There are times in the fairway there is no grass where there should be. A few areas where water is leaking under ground can make it mushy. Greens are looking better but still not in great condition. Sand trAps have sand, but hard packed from watering. I will definitely play it again.

Shes rough around the edges but I like playing here. Cheap and open during the week.

Could be worse
I love this course regardless of how janky it can be. Old guy in the pro shop is pretty salty but literally every other employee including the head pro and maintenance have been super friendly. Greens are a little rough but they have gotten considerably better over the last few months. Lots of drive-able par 4s if the wind is right. Great place to come for a quick and affordable 18 if you time it right.

Do not waste your money
Did not play after paying. Starter and pro shop not on same page guess stater wanted. to prove a point Would not let me walk after pro shop said ok. Waited till my tee time asked if it was my turn he told me that I could try to catch up with the two some up by the green if I wanted. I had been waiting by the tee box for over 15 minutes.

Not worth it at any price
Every bit of the course was in bad shape accept he driving range was in OK shape but every other part
of the course was terrible, tee boxes, fairways, greens = all terrible. I've never seen greens in this bad of shape, you had to keep moving your ball to try to avoid the bare spots.
