About
Empire Ranch Golf Course, situated in the picturesque Carson Valley, features 27 holes of golf that overlook the Carson River. Located just minutes from downtown Carson City, Empire Ranch's three individual nines offer three different 18-hole combinations that have a convenient location but still provide a challenging golf getaway. The Comstock/River layout features lakes and wetlands coming into play throughout. The fairways are also well guarded by strategically placed bunkers. It provides a fair test, but the golf course is forgiving enough for beginning and intermediate players. In addition to the three courses, Empire Ranch also offers extensive practice facilities and a staff of PGA Professionals who can provide golf instruction.

Pretty Rough!! (Pun intended)
Can’t say that I’d ever play here again. The course isn’t cut at all. Everyone is losing balls in the dang fairway. Rough is like 6 inches. Absolute neglect. Greens were better than the rest of the course if you could find your ball. First and last.
solo golf
The greens are 100% better that the last time I played there. Tee boxs are still some what ragged. Now to the rough,it was like US Open rough maybe worse. If you weren't in the fairway or on the green you were in deep trouble. They really have do do something about cutting their rough, very penalizing to be in it.

Best kept secret in Tahoe area Golf
Over the last several years the owner and staff have done a great deal to improve the quality of the course , the driving range, putting green and chip area. The restaurant is also great, Did I mention dog friendly?! The course is great for walking. There is little wait time and the pace of play is usually good. I love to stop into the restaurant for lunch between nines, which is hard to do on most courses, so you should take advantage of that. The staff is great all around and I have even heard great things about the coaching skills of the pro - Dave.

Great Condition
I avoided this course due to prior poor playing conditions. It has been 3 years since I played but last Sunday the course was in excellent condition. Looking forward to my next round.

Family fun
Good times with family. Difficult to get family together but rare occasion today. Course in better shapes than last time played about one month ago. Irrigation plentiful now.

Loud Drink Cart Person
Second time playing this course. It’s a fun course and not too difficult. Some fairways and greens are beat up but for the money with a cart is totally worth it. I’ll definitely be back.
My only complaint would be that the drink cart person was driving around on their cell phone and you could hear them from 3 holes away..

Great course for beginners!
My golf buddy and I took out two friends and had a blast! One guy, his first time on a golf course really enjoyed it. We picked up a few times to keep pace but had no issues and had a great time!! Course was not perfect but it was good enough and a great value. I would recommend this course for anyone wanting to take up the game. It’s got a few challenges and a few easy holes and the ideal place to get started! Grab your buddies and go out and play!

My thoughts on Empire Ranch
The course was enjoyable and quite challenging. I would recommend marking the course better so golfers can tell the line of play tee to green. GPS on the carts or centered poles starting within 200 yards of the tees so they can be seen from the tee box. Also water on the course. There was no drinking water. Also needed are sand bottles to repair divots.

Cheapest Golf in Nevada
Love this course, super cheap for a cart and a round.
Not sure if they are understaffed or what, but areas near the greens and even the rough haven’t been cut for a while. Just stay on fairways and greens or your ball will end up in 6 inches of clover haha.

Enjoyed a round at Empire Ranch. Course was in good shape. A few greens needed attention but overall in good shape. Staff was very friendly as usual. Will return soon.
