About
Nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Toiyabe Golf Club (formerly known as Thunder Canyon Country Club and Lightning "W" Ranch Golf Course.) has a picturesque landscape of shimmering lakes, meandering streams, and towering pines. This course has a traditional layout that features contoured fairways and fast, generous greens. There are nearly 50 bunkers strategically placed throughout and water comes into play on 14 holes. Elevated tees provide spectacular views of Mt. Rose and Slide Mountain. The golf course is challenging but still player-friendly with seven sets of tees. In addition to the course, Toiyabe Golf Club also offers practice facilities that include chipping and sand practice areas along with an expansive putting green.

Beautiful Views
It was early and the snow had just melted off. A little rough but will be excellent as the weather warms.
Best in town
By far the best public course experience in town. Scenic views, well groomed, open spaces. Couldn’t ask for a better day of golf
Booking but closed
I booked through golf now got a confirmation. Showed up and we’re closed No one answering the phone. I’d like my 5$ back.
Worth the drive
For 20 years I've been going to Reno to play golf and all the times I drove to Carson CIty to play, I always passed by this course and wondered how it played. Well, last year it went public and it is phenomenal. So much fun, so challenging and so pristine. I'd tell you don't play this course because I don't want it t get too popular, but if you play in Reno or Carson City, this track is worth the drive. Staff is great, conditions are always great, even when it's freakin' cold. I love this course. I play now every time I come to town, summers and holidays. And the price is very reasonable. You won't be disappointed. And a really nice clubhouse.
First day of Winter
Had a frost delay. The starter let us know where we were in the schedule for teeing off.
As can be expected, the greens were a little beat up. Matched us with another twosome. Very nice guys and fast players. 3 1/2 hours for 18 holes.
Fantastic Course
First time playing, very friendly layout. Wish I didn’t wait until December to play.
Great value for your money.
This place is in Washoe Valley and nestled against the Sierras. The views are magnificent and it winds its way through homes, but they rarely come into play. It is a challenging course for average golfers, but it plays well and fast for all levels.
