Escape the snow & play Sanctuary Ridge Photo submitted by DAB4par on 12/05/2014
Mountain golf
Love playing this course due to all the elevation changes. Greens were slow but putted true. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Always fun to play
Sanctuary ridge is just a fun course, greens were not very fast but this could be a time of year issue.
They should cut down some if the rough.
Course is very hilly and pretty but like a cow pasture.
This course is challenging but the shape it is in, is pitiful. Obviously, it has been neglected for a long time and way over priced. Currently $5.00 would be a fair price for the terrible conditions. The staff are quite friendly especially the waitress named "Vickie". Good service in the restaurant.
Rough
Rough was way too think and unmanaged. Greens need mowing badly. Never putted anything near as hard as had to at Sanctuary
We are sorry to hear about your experience, we have just recently become under new management due to the condition of the golf course, they are working very hard everyday to improve the course and it is looking better every day so we would love to see you come back and give us a try!
Pleasant Round
Course was in pretty rough condition. Easy to lose balls just off the fairway. BUT...amazing views and unique layout due to topography changes! Very fun to see in Florida
We are glad to hear you enjoyed the views and topography of the course! We are now under new management and the golf course is their number one priority. Please come back and see us the course is improving everyday!
New favorite
I recently moved to the area and this was the first course I've played in Clermont. It was so great it's probably going to be my home course. The layout is unlike anything I've seen in Florida with lots of hills. The view from the bar is awesome so were staff. Nice lift from the fairways and greens were on the slow side but once I got a feel for the spped I good to go all day.
We are glad to hear you enjoyed your experience! We always love to become a players home course so please stop by in the pro shop and ask about our discounts and memberships!
Nice layout - Iffy conditions
One of the few courses in Florida that actually has hills - the major elevation changes are awesome but the course isn't in great shape which is about on par for golf courses during the summer. Greens had been recently punched and were still recovering which made putting a bit frustrating at times. Staff was very nice, too.
Disappointed
Have played this course a number of times and conditions were always great , this time have never seen course in such bad condition. We were lied to about aerification of greens. Greens were terrible, unbelievable amount of weed in fairways and surrounding green perimeters. This is a Billy Casper managed course and doing a terrible job if they handle the maintenance end.
Elevations, as advertized
Greens quick, tees decent. fairways best condition in center. Playing alone so at times will look for balls to refill bag. After driving on 12th hole, noticed a sign that said, "WILD ANIMALS". Thought strange sign. Maybe snakes, raccoons. Went down a couple hundred yards and went on right side of hole to look in woods for balls. Saw one. Walked into woods and stepped down into thicker brush. Had the scare of my life when I spooked about a 200lb bear about 12 feet from me. Luckily, he ran the other way. Left ball!
This course is ran by the Casper golf management team. The course is in terrible condition. Bunkers appear to be severely neglected with weeds growing in and around them. Most of the cart path exits into the fairway are so bumpy with holes that it makes for a very rough ride. The course layout is nice and if the maintenance was kept up to par would be a lot of fun to play.
Rating and slope understated
IMO the rating and slope for this course are understated. Although I scored well, I feel these stats are not indicative of this courses difficulty. Hole #2 flag was not visible, and it's a par 3!! We played with 2 members who helped us with shots, but even so, my wife (who is a good player) said "Take a good look around because we won't be back here....EVER". I would try it again but only with the guys. If you are a single digit handicapper you will be challenged. The 10th is in the middle of the layout so bring your own water and snacks. Slightly below average playing conditions and similar elevation changes to a New Hampshire course.
Poor rating.
The general layout out is poor at best. I was told by a friend that this course was hilly but I can't explain how uniquely awful this course is. Washout areas in the fairways, hardpan greens and bunkers with rocks mixed with sand made for a terrible round. The round took over 5 hours and not a single course drove by. The extreme condition and slopes made for a lot of searching for your ball even though it was hit in the middle of the fairway. One comfort station on the whole course without a club house turn.
I will never play this course again and will be glad to share my experience with all of my golfer friends. Please consider updating the 4 star rating from Golfnow. I depend on the rating for selection of courses to play. I would rate this course two stars. Course condition, pace of play and lack of comfort stations are reflected in my rating.
Fun, challenging courae
Sanctuary Ridge is a fun course after playing so many flat, Orlando courses for years on end. Some of the views are awesome. The elevation changes and lies make you rethink shots that Orlando courses don't. Fun, fun, fun course to play. Only thing I can complain about is that the few times I've played this course, I've never been visited by a beverage cart and there's no good opportunity to hit the snack bar at the turn.
No course marshall
Pace of play extremely slow, player etiquette lacking, balls being driven into foursome from behind after waiting to approach greens, slow players would not allow faster players to play through. Course in poor shape with sand traps poorly maintained.
Hills
I like this course for its hills so I can practice before going north to
Mickey Mouse course
First 9 was ok. On the second 9, you cannot see the flag ever. It slows the pace considerably. The fairways are good. The lay out is awfull and the green are hard to put.
