Formerly home to a turpentine plantation, the site now offers one of the most environmentally sensitive courses in northwest Florida, Kelly Plantation. The golf course sits along the shores of the Choctawhatchee Bay, sprawling across a waterfront landscape of towering trees and swampy bayous. The course features large, contoured greens and wide, manicured fairways that are in excellent condition but can also be tricky to navigate. The strategically placed hazards also require some careful maneuvering. In addition to being a challenging round, the golf course is also known for its stunning scenic appeal. Throughout the layout, golfers can enjoy panoramic views across the bay to the abundant magnolias and palmettos that are native to Florida's northwest region. For these reasons, Kelly Plantation has received high praise from publications such as Golf Digest and Golf Magazine.

Too crowded

Course management was terrible. There were no rangers to enforce pace of play and the course was overbooked.

We had a tee time that would have been fine if the pace of play was 4 hr. 15 min. But they let out a group of 12 for a replay round ahead of us and we had to wait on every shot. We had to quit after 16 holes and even the last hole was basically unplayable.

The course is actually very nice. The conditions were excellent and the greens were fantastic. Too bad we didn’t get to play them all.

The course was excellent. However, the foursome in front of us was extremely slow. We contacted the pro shop while on the course to have the ranger speak to them. I don't know if that happened but nothing changed. We were unable to finish 18 holes based on this situation.

Course is in tremendous shape

Kudos to the grounds guys for keeping this course in superb shape. Fast greens, great fairways, beautiful bunkers. The only downfall is the price. After playing this course I realized I’m not good enough to enjoy spending $140 to play a course no matter how nice it is. That’s on me not the course. If you are a decent golfer and don’t mind spending the money, I highly recommend this wonderfully cared for course

When I began playing golf I really enjoyed the beauty of playing a well manicured golf course. Just like you I enjoy fast greens, great fairways, and beautiful white sand bunker's. From check in to check out a fabulous day . Great practice facility and great staff. Best conditions for the area at this time of year.

One recommendation would be to educate players on where to enter and exit the greens. Group in front of us were parking there carts in front of the greens instead of the back or exot to the next hole. Certainly slowed up play and backed up the course.

Awesome Greens!

I played 18 rounds of golf in the Orlando, Sarasota and Destin areas over a 3 week period, many of which were high end courses. Kelly Plantation had the best greens of any of the courses I played. Will definitely be back again.
