Westchase Golf Club
About
Designed by Lloyd Clifton, Westchase winds through acres of lakes, conservation areas and forest. It offers manicured greens surrounded by natural wetlands, wooden bridges and bulkheads. With its 9,500 sq. ft. clubhouse, full-service dining room, and fully stocked pro shop, Westchase offers a country club atmosphere along with first-class service. The golf club has established itself as one of Tampa Bay's best upscale golf facilities. The front nine meander through an impressive pine forest. The back nine -- which is demanding on the tee shot -- features lakes, wetlands and cypress. Strategically placed bunkers, more sparkling lakes and stands of cypress, oak, palmetto and pine frame the fairways and greens. Signature Hole No. 3, at 212 yards from the back tee, is all you can handle -- It's a Par 3 all-carry over water from the back tee!

Steve
Course conditions have been better, but still better than most courses in the area.
Nice course, I've played it several times. Greens roll true could be a little faster. Great bar and pro shop. Plan on playing a few more times this season.
Glad we found this
This is a very nice course, we are really glad we found it. The course conditions were very good for February. Peace of play was fine, the layout was very interesting, and unique. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The driving range is cool, hitting the ball into a big pond! Two things keep this from being a five star review. First, there is no beverage cart on the course. Second, the bathroom on the front nine was substandard at best. The toilet didn’t flush and the water didn’t work, it was kind of nasty. Aside from that, this is a fun course, and we will be back to play it again.
Overrated Course
I found this course overpriced for the condition its in. Very little fairway grass. It’s more sand and dirt. The bunkers are not trimmed. The greens are horrible. The greens look good until you try to putt. The speeds are inconsistent. This is a 40.00 dollar course at best. The neighborhood is fantastic. On a positive note, the girls at the bar make fantastic mix drinks.
Plus, they allow 5 and 6-somes which were ahead of us. This created a very long day. Obviously, there is not a golf marshall to stop this kind of play. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE.
Water
I was very disappointed with the amenities at the course. There was no water on or off the course to drink. No one could get me even a bottle of water because there was no staff to cover the bar area. It was 85 degrees on the day I played and I only had o e bottle of water that I brought from my car. The cart person came once in 4 hours and even then she was very under supplied with drinks. It was just disappointing because I love the course. The guy running the desk was very polite and did the best he could. He is the reason I will go back along with the awesome layout. The course is challenging but fun. It was very wet but still a good track!
Great track
Great course in great shape in February. Maybe not the longest course you’ll see, but a golfers course for sure. Would recommend
Bad Sportsmanship, lack of attention to details
An entitled D%$# picked up my ball, because it was hit too close to them by accident. Then, the cart girl takes my Visa to the club house, which they closed at 6pm with many groups still on course......Brutal!!!!
Great Way to End a Short Golf Trip
Played on a Sunday morning before catching a late afternoon flight home. Spent a three day weekend in the Tampa Area with Westchase being my third of three courses played. My group was beat down quite frankly after the previous two days with each round pushing 5 hours. We came into Sunday expecting more of the same, but could not have been more pleasantly surprised. This is not a typo; we played in just over three hours teeing off at 10am. Thank you Westchase for saving the weekend! We all played so much better at the quicker pace and were able to truly enjoy ourselves; imagine that paying for a round of golf. Same couldn’t be said for two other “high profile” public access courses we played that Friday and Saturday.
Best course I have played in the area
I was in the area for 14 days. I played 7 different courses with green fees from $25 to $90. Sorry I found this one the day before I left. I like the layout, the facilities and the staff. The greens were FIRM & fast but were a bit bumpy. I expect they will be awesome in the next few weeks. I will definitely play this course again when I am back.
One of the Best
One of the best courses in the Tampa area, never disappoints !
Needs help
For the $ you would expect more. Tee boxes were beat up. Water in sand traps…not because of rain, and none raked on front nine. Over watered in areas creating muddy lies. Course layout is fair, although too many holes where you had to lay up for my liking. Greens were in good shape and rolled consistently at a 10. Driving range was the type you hit into the water with no markers.
Poorly marked yardage. Unraked bunkers some with standing water
Not my favorite track
Some of the holes were a bit quirky and not well designed. Course conditions were definitely average, with greens that were rock hard and had very low grass coverage on them, it was almost as if the course skipped the winter overseeding process, although the greens did roll just fine and weren't overly slow. Very narrow off the tee so bring lots of golf balls.
