Westchase Golf Club
About
Designed by Lloyd Clifton, Westchase winds through acres of lakes, conservation areas and forest. It offers manicured greens surrounded by natural wetlands, wooden bridges and bulkheads. With its 9,500 sq. ft. clubhouse, full-service dining room, and fully stocked pro shop, Westchase offers a country club atmosphere along with first-class service. The golf club has established itself as one of Tampa Bay's best upscale golf facilities. The front nine meander through an impressive pine forest. The back nine -- which is demanding on the tee shot -- features lakes, wetlands and cypress. Strategically placed bunkers, more sparkling lakes and stands of cypress, oak, palmetto and pine frame the fairways and greens. Signature Hole No. 3, at 212 yards from the back tee, is all you can handle -- It's a Par 3 all-carry over water from the back tee!

Excellent course, great shape,
Course was in great condition. Nice layout, very challenging. Greens were pretty fast.
Shaky Greens
Great course greens were shaky at best fairways were in great shape
Why?
I went to play 4 days after hurricane Ian crossed Florida. The course was in poor shape, all the fairways and roughs needed mowing and weeding I get it. You just had a storm that crippled some of the state and the course was not in condition to tolerate mowing and care. Why charge full rate $74? It’s not right and as a member I was somewhat embarrassed
Worth playing
Have been trying different courses in the Tampa area. Staff is super nice and helpful. Tee boxes were good condition. Fairways were ok in general. Greens didn’t hold a ball but putted well. Overall I’d recommend Westchase.
Great greens
Course was soaked, cart part only, fairways haven’t been mowed in days long patches of grass middle of fairways. Greens were firm and true.
Beautiful but HARD
Before I chose to play here, I checked out some reviews and saw that the course was on the more difficult scale but I was up to the challenge. The course delivered completely. The fairways were in great shape, green recently aerated but still rolled true, but the bunkers were sadly hard from rain the previous day so that was a downfall. The range is quite small, however it is an aqua-range which was a cool touch. The greens are quick, but predictable to an extent. Be prepared to be challenged by this course and do yourself a favor by using a GPS app like 18Birdies so you can know where to miss. Overall very pleased with the course and will be back again, just next time not the first time playing with new irons.
Nice course
Greens have a decent amount of unfixed divots which makes for some aggravating putting. Other than that the course is in pretty good shape
Great course
Westchase is a great course. The water and blind holes make it a fun challenge balanced by most holes you can hit in regulation.
Challenging Track
Start by saying, I will definitely be back.
Pretty tough course, with a mix of challenges and protections. Greens were super hard and tough to stick, coupled with a lot of front pins that were a bit over the top for approach shots over 120 yards or so. It also leads to those weird pitch marks, which are really bruises that you can’t see to repair but end up going black down the road.
Greens rolled true but for those spots, which were limited on most greens. Fast but super nice, zero real complaints on the putting surfaces.
Fairways were all lovely, rough was punitive but fair— fluffy but not overgrown. Most tee boxes were in very good shape, but a few were crabby and had very nasty ripples and slopes. We played the blues, so very few divots.
To be fair to the conditions, it’s summer and these are all nitpicks.
Great course
Cart attendant Russ was very informative course was in great shape would recommend this playing again
Lots of water
First time playing. A lot of water. Greens were hard. Nice layout. Staff was great.
Well maintained track!
Staff very friendly- course in great shape! Fair course with some tight holes and some bomb away holes! All and all good day - pace of play under 4 hours. Only drawback (minor) was no beverage cart during the round however plenty water on course . I will be back
Great maintenance work
I have played Westchase many times. This is one of my favorites in Tampa Bay area for several reasons. First the course design is beautiful, some holes can be challenging, water is sometimes in play but not too much. The course is also very well maintained, one of the best in Tampa Bay, even if they should do some improvements on some bunkers.
Second the fauna and the nature. We see a lot of animals at Westchase: deer, gators, plenty of birds, and we have a lot of nature, trees, mangroves, etc.
Third the quality of the welcoming. For example, early this morning, following 2.5 inches of rain last night, knowing that we had a mid-morning tee time, the pro contacted me to inform me that there was a lot of debris on the course and that it was car path only. It was totally normal to be car path only today, because we could feel the wetness of the fairways, even if they drained well. But the maintenance crew put a great effort to clean the course, and there was no more debris when we played. They did an excellent job.
Fourth and final, the management is very supportive of the US military and the veterans.
Russ is the best!
When I pull up Russ welcomes me and makes me want to be a part of this golf club. Not surprisingly when I am leaving Russ is driving off and slams his truck to a stop and asked how did I enjoy the course and invites me to come back! I will for sure, the course is well maintained and challenging but Russ is what in my mind sets places apart and I was thankful for the friendly welcome and send off!
All about the Greens
I have played here many years ago. So before going back I looked at recent reviews. The most prevalent obstacle I kept seeing was people complaining about nobody fixing ball marks on the greens. I found out why. They were what I call peppered with ball marks. When walking onto the greens, look around the inside of the flag cups, or watch your ball hit the greens with high towering shot and bounce off. You will feel it under your feet. The greens are rock hard. If my ball even made a pitch mark, I couldn't get the tool to penetrate the green surface to fix the ball mark. Strangely enough the greens were very puttable. A few occasions the ball marks weren't deep but could throw a put offline a little. With all the rain they got before we arrived, very surprised at how hard the greens were. Overall, it's a tough, challenging layout. With blind shots off the tee to narrow fairways with bottle necks in some places maybe 20 yards wide. We played cart path only, so that made it even tougher. With casual water everywhere by cart paths greens sides, and bunkers. I'm still bewildered by the hardness of the greens. I would go back, in the hopes my game is in better shape and to get to know the course better. Other than that, bring your A game and someone else's in your bag, its not easy.
Played on a Monday @1:45. Got stuck behind multiple groups of 4 by the 6th hole. Had to wait almost 15-20+ minutes on each hole thereafter. I wish there was a ranger there to speed up pace of play. And then the clubhouse didn’t have any food and the bartender was on her phone while taking our order. Aside from all that the course was in pretty good condition. Greens were fast just had a lot of divot marks.
