Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was purpose-built to host the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, and it has done so since 1987. Designed with high drama in mind, the venue is well known as one of the most exciting and fan-friendly in all of golf, which includes a thrilling finishing stretch that begins with the risk-reward 15th hole. The course plays to over 7,200 yards from the tournament tees, but golfers who play the course during their Arizona golf vacation will find the layout has more forgiving fairways than many other area desert courses. The TPC experience includes one of the most encompassing practice areas in the destination, as well as grand clubhouse that includes the Toro Restaurant and Rum Bar. TPC Scottsdale is also home to the Champions Course, which plays out of a separate facility nearby.

Nice layout

Enjoyed playing. Greens had been punched but it did not affect the speed or the roll. Good job.

First class golf experience.

I loved the course and overall experience. The only negative was that we were pressured by the marshall when we fell behind a little. He warned us to speed up. We did speed up and eventually caught up to to the group in front of us, but he continued to follow us for several holes, and threatened to make us pick up and move even though there was no one behind us. One warning would have sufficed.

Yeah, being pressured by a marshall/ranger is not cool in those conditions!!!

High price for a just okay course

Not any great golf holes one this course . Every hole just average looking no memorable holes. For the price you should receive a fare number of range balls to hit not a small bag. The course looks better when they have the spectator stands in place. I consider TPC Scottsdale a high priced tourist trap. I live and play at Reynolds plantation in Ga. Much nicer place.

Really enjoyed the course

Greens were excellent and the course was in great shape. Fair but challenging course.
The only bad thing was the airplanes landing and the fact we only saw the F & B cart on 1, 10 and 18 as they only had one cart out that day.

Terrible pace of play, longest round EVER!

After a wonderful 5 1/2 hour + round, yes that is right 5.5 hours, was officially the longest round I have ever personally played. The course itself is ok, decent layout, maintained okay, but I would expect a lot better at a TPC course and this certainly did not live up to it's name. The staff seemed friendly. But overall, I don't think I would play this course again, too many other better courses in the area at much better prices and value. Please also note, if you book on golfnow it says the tee times that includes practice balls, well make sure you tell them because they charged both my playing partner and I for practice balls.

Dear Annonymous,
We sincerely apologize for your 5 1/2 hour round. That our normal pace of play. I won't make any excuses for your experience except to say we sincerely apologize. Our policy is 4 hours and 15 minutes and we do use our course advisors to make sure we stay right around this time frame. Sunday was a packed day even with our starter times, but somehow it went south. Our GM will be contacting you personally, but please know we do not accept 5 1/2 hour rounds.
Sincerely,
TPC Scottsdale

Awesomeness

Perfect conditioning, especially the greens. Forgettable front 9 design, but the back 9 was one of the best I've played. Pretty easy off the tee, but 2nd shots and chipping required good touch and distance control. There were lots of false fronts and shaved edges on the greens. Pretty awesome to play a tour track for $99

There's a reason this course hosts a PGA tournament.

Yes, this was the nicest course I have ever played. Yes, conditions were near perfect. And yes, I could never afford to play here without a great Golfnow deal. Thank you.

But it was loads of fun.

Amazing and very challenging.

For someone that appreciates the game, they will love the TPC culture. The wind makes the course very difficult, greens are fast, and it's important to evaluate decisions. The cost is well worth the course, cart, and balls. I believe that Golf Now made a course tht is known to be expensive very affordable. Thank you much.

Now I can say I played it!

If you like to golf many different courses, you must play TPC Stadium.
Excellent shape with tricky greens and tightly mowed fairways.
Be sure to practice your short game before heading on the course.

Great value

Beautiful course, well maintained and a great value at $79. Pace of play was a little slow for mid-week but not too bad. Staff was very friendly and attentive to any player needs. TPC knows how to manage golf courses. Definitely worth playing if visiting the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

good bang for the buck at this time of year in Phoenix

Marshalls should do more to move people along instead of shooting the breeze with the cart girl or just sitting still in an off course type area.

Great course, OK value

I've played TPC for years - mostly the "Champions" course, before it was the "Champions". The difference is night and day, they've done a great job with the course, and continue to make improvements. Some of the bunkering is pretty aweome. The greens are in great shape (April) and would be better if everyone fixed their pitch marks. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The greens fees seem a little high to me, I think you can do better for the money, but it's a fun track.

The Hot dog is gone! They used to have the best grilled Hot Dog in down. That's gone, replaced by something similar to every other golf course. Used to be our treat at the end of a round.

Fun & challenging

While the actual pace of play was not bad, we spent a lot of time waiting both on the tees and in the fairways. Other than that annoyance, it was a nice course with plenty of challenge. Greens were plenty fast and true but apparently no one fixes ball marks. Would definitely play again.

compares very favorably to the TPC stadium

Most of the staff agreed that the TPC champions course was at least as difficult, if not more difficult. At $99 vs. $299, the Champions course was a great deal. The course is maintained by the same staff and was in excellent shape. Greens were challenging but fair.

Great 1 time experience.

Bit the bullet and played a round at the Stadium. Shop and bag staff were good. Was a little disappointed to have to show my "ticket" from the shop to the starter like I was at my local muni. Really there isn't a better way to monitor this at a $200+ course? Was given a small bag of balls - would expect to see pyramids on the range at a facility like this. Starter was nice, but gave the speech about taking extra clubs, etc... like this is the first time I have ever been on a course. Again - not at a facility like this. Forecaddie - Brenndan - amazing, kept us at pace knows the course, told stories of history, etc... great way to enjoy the experience and really made the day an event.

Beautiful course but not worth the money they charge to play

We loved the course and would play again, but it is not worth the fees charged. Luckily we did not have to pay those this time to play. It is a course that you need to play twice to get the feel of it. The staff were very friendly and the course in great condition. However, we have played other courses that we like better for reasonable fees. We thought the Champions course was more challenging than the Stadium course.
