TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
About
Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was purpose-built to host the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, and it has done so since 1987. Designed with high drama in mind, the venue is well known as one of the most exciting and fan-friendly in all of golf, which includes a thrilling finishing stretch that begins with the risk-reward 15th hole. The course plays to over 7,200 yards from the tournament tees, but golfers who play the course during their Arizona golf vacation will find the layout has more forgiving fairways than many other area desert courses. The TPC experience includes one of the most encompassing practice areas in the destination, as well as grand clubhouse that includes the Toro Restaurant and Rum Bar. TPC Scottsdale is also home to the Champions Course, which plays out of a separate facility nearby.

good bang for the buck at this time of year in Phoenix
Marshalls should do more to move people along instead of shooting the breeze with the cart girl or just sitting still in an off course type area.
Great course, OK value
I've played TPC for years - mostly the "Champions" course, before it was the "Champions". The difference is night and day, they've done a great job with the course, and continue to make improvements. Some of the bunkering is pretty aweome. The greens are in great shape (April) and would be better if everyone fixed their pitch marks. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The greens fees seem a little high to me, I think you can do better for the money, but it's a fun track.
The Hot dog is gone! They used to have the best grilled Hot Dog in down. That's gone, replaced by something similar to every other golf course. Used to be our treat at the end of a round.
Fun & challenging
While the actual pace of play was not bad, we spent a lot of time waiting both on the tees and in the fairways. Other than that annoyance, it was a nice course with plenty of challenge. Greens were plenty fast and true but apparently no one fixes ball marks. Would definitely play again.
compares very favorably to the TPC stadium
Most of the staff agreed that the TPC champions course was at least as difficult, if not more difficult. At $99 vs. $299, the Champions course was a great deal. The course is maintained by the same staff and was in excellent shape. Greens were challenging but fair.
Great 1 time experience.
Bit the bullet and played a round at the Stadium. Shop and bag staff were good. Was a little disappointed to have to show my "ticket" from the shop to the starter like I was at my local muni. Really there isn't a better way to monitor this at a $200+ course? Was given a small bag of balls - would expect to see pyramids on the range at a facility like this. Starter was nice, but gave the speech about taking extra clubs, etc... like this is the first time I have ever been on a course. Again - not at a facility like this. Forecaddie - Brenndan - amazing, kept us at pace knows the course, told stories of history, etc... great way to enjoy the experience and really made the day an event.
Great condition with good golf values for all player levels. Very lady friendly.
Good marshalling, together with a course where playing is a challenge and pleasure.
Beautiful course but not worth the money they charge to play
We loved the course and would play again, but it is not worth the fees charged. Luckily we did not have to pay those this time to play. It is a course that you need to play twice to get the feel of it. The staff were very friendly and the course in great condition. However, we have played other courses that we like better for reasonable fees. We thought the Champions course was more challenging than the Stadium course.
Course was in great condition.
Would play again and recommend this course to all my friends.
Average
In a nutshell, not worth it. Had a nice time, and I'm glad I played it once, but I will never play it again for anywhere close to that kind of money. The caddie was nice, but I think the only reason they give you a caddie was to keep up the pace of play so they could get more rounds in (revenue). Kind of felt like a meat grinder atmosphere.
Great course but took forever to play
We had to wait everyhole. They allow people to go and jump on and play holes that are open. People just jump in front of you and it takes forever. I called during the play and was told this is TPC we allow people to jump around.
Fun but expensive
Second time playing TPC Scottsdale, I would say the first time was more fun and memorable, second time just seemed okay. Our caddy was helpful and made the round enjoyable. It seemed to be over priced, while it's fun playing a course the pro's play, there are other courses that are way better for much less money.
You feel like a pro from the first tee.
The staff was great, there was not one hole that was not groom to profection.
Would like to see the pace of play no more than 4.5hrs
The course is good shape considering the amount of play it gets. The pace is usually good and the price is reasonable for the caliber of the course.
Great Location/Views Undone by Poor Quality of Carts and Start/Play Delays
Pro Shop staff were excellent. But... Tee time was delayed nearly 30 minutes and the only apparent reason given was "availability of carts." The carts finally provided were of poor quality, one had significant brake issue that was simply shrugged off by staff and starter. Due to significant dealy in start, we did not finish the round as the last 3 holes were stacked up 2-3 deep on the tees. My prior experiences with this course were all favorable - this one was a disaster with new guests questioning the venue. Something has now gone wrong with this location -
The Stadium Course was in excellent condition even tho they had equipment dismantling the stands.
The Stadium Course rates right at the top of professional courses. Tyler, our forecaddy gave us good advise on shot placement and targets. Wide fairways and great greens. Would definitely play again.
Not worth it
For a $360 golf outing after green fees and caddy tip, you can find much better courses to play and for $100 less. I've played courses in Maui and California for about $170 less that were a much more memorable experience and had more spectacular scenery. The greens were mowed nearly bald so that you could see dirt and the ball was sailing off every one unless you happen to hit your highest degree lob wedge in front of the pin. Fairways and tee boxes were well maintained, but that's expected for a pro course. They were taking down the bleachers in the middle of the day on Hole 16, so getting a decent photo was a strategic endeavor. Unless I just missed them, the only bathrooms on the course itself were portables that hadn't been emptied in a while. If your goal is taking in a pro experience and history, go play Torrey Pines, Pebble Beach or just about any pro course in Hawaii. I'm sure there are other courses in Arizona that are just as good without the price tag. Caddy was average, and I could have bought a distance scope for the tip I paid, which was pretty much all that he helped with anyway other than the few times he was able to successfully point out where my ball went. The greens even baffled him since he guessed those wrong too.
Great experience well worth the price
The staff was knowledgable and did an outstanding job and my caddie was a big help and very nice and easy to get along with
Playing the 16th.; Wicked!!
Thru Rain,Sleet & Snow we got 15 holes in. Fortunately, we teed off Back 9 1st. so able to play 16th.Using Fore Caddy was positive as Scott was a big help & kept play moving. Staff very professional & friendly. Wife did comment that Pro Shop was very Male driven & Women`s section understated.
Amazing course, weather and conditions.
It was amazing but remember I visit the course two to three weeks after the Phoenix Open and it was end of February.
Will play it again. Awesome...
Fantastic condition great course
