Stallion Mountain Golf Club is conveniently situated just minutes from the Strip, but this Las Vegas golf course feels much further away thanks to a scenic landscape of towering, mature pines and six sparkling lakes. Over the years the course has hosted several major events including Frank Sinatra's Celebrity Classic and Las Vegas Invitational. It has a versatile layout that offers plenty of variety and shot values, which makes it appealing for a range of different skill levels. The par 4s and par 5s require long, accurate drives but the approach shots will test your iron game. The golf course also features undulating fairways lined with bunkers and water hazards come into play on 10 holes. In addition to the golf course, Stallion Mountain boasts a comprehensive practice facility that includes a 16-acre driving range with 40 tees, five practice putting greens, two chipping greens, and two practice bunkers.

Improved Conditions

Course is much improved since last time I played. Greens were in excellent condition and very fast. Seems like mgt. is trying to upgrade course conditions which is a welcome change. Bunkers are currently being renovated.

Course was in terrible condition

We have played stallion mountain a couple of times in the last few years and we were super disappointed yesterday. Course was almost unplayable with the amount of construction going on. There is no way we should have paid what we did for that round. Unacceptable guys. Also where was the drinks lady. We didn’t have anyone come around the whole 18 holes.

The entire course is “Under Repair” and should be CLOSED!

The bunkers are empty and sand is on site so they are free relief however it’s dangerous if you have to retrieve a ball from them. The course is in awful shape, even the new sod laid is not flat and dead. The fairways are so low and bare your ball bounces multiple times and disappears no matter how good the shot is. The fairways are narrow and the rough is ROUGH!!!!! Our Group lost so many balls that dropped in the high thick grass and it’s impossible to see it. If you did find it, be prepared to fight the grass for your club head and ball. Dead trees everywhere, low hanging trees over cart path to smack you in the face and the course bathrooms are unusable. The course should be closed!!! Wait for everyone else to finish overseed.

Positive- friendly staff!!

Tee 2 Green 9/10

First time playing Stallion Mountain in 4 years. After hearing about course construction limited to just the bunkers, I thought I’d give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised to find the tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The starter was upfront on honest regarding the condition of the bunkers (some had zero sand, some, mounds of dirt and some being reshaped) and to play them as GUR. We only had a few holes (13&14) to navigate around some dirt piles and workers. Even though the course is on the other side of town for me, I’ll be coming back for sure. Love the layout, course conditions (minus the bunkers), green fees and staffing are worth putting this course back into my rotation of courses to play.

Golf Stallion Mountain

Stallion Mountain is a good course for those who have been playing for at least two years or more. Layout is not bad; a few areas need some improvements. They have a great practice area. The chipping area also has a bunker the work on your bunker shots,

Course unplayable

We arrive and no carts were available. 2 minutes to tee time we received our cart. No time to warm up. The traps were under repair and unplayable. Pin positions

M we’re in spots were you had to shoot over construction equipment. No water on the course. The sewers need attention as the bathroom smelled so bad you couldn’t even use them. The price for this round was $99.00 which was unfortunate do to conditions. No PCC rating available. Very sad this course may be ok in a couple of years but when we played it was unplayable.

Money is being invested…expect the course to be a great track when complete.

We arrived in Las Vegas during overseeding season so tee times were tight *everywhere*. Stallion Mountain was available and while older reviews showed it was probably not a good pick, recent reviews suggested that the course was investing money, aiming higher and worth a look.

When we arrived, we were told that all of the bunkers were to be played as ground under repair which was a bit off putting but I only had to drop once so ultimately, a non-issue. (It’s amazing how much it changes the drive mentality when you know you are not going to pay a penalty for driving into a bunker…to wit, there were clearly times when I was not worried about driving into or at a bunker whereas when complete, I would play the holes differently) From what I was able to observe, the work on repairing the bunkers is well under way and they are being well shaped, additional drainage is being added and for the few that had piles of sand in them, they will look great. I suspect they will be finished in a month or so…but its worth checking when you book your time. Kudos to the greens staff for working their arses off in the hot sun to get this done…we saw at least 4 crews out working during our round. (Stallion Mountain, please pass along our praise for their efforts…they usually work in the background and are appreciated!)

The practice area had a driving range, chipping area and putting green. Putting and chipping areas were in good shape, the driving range tee area was a shade under good. The practice balls themselves ranged from fresh to near bald but it was fine for loosening up.

The layout is a bit quirky as it weaves in and out of the homes and the signage is a bit light…while we were never lost, we did question if we were heading in the right direction a few times.

Fairways were tight with few if any bad spots although the 10th had a lot of GUR patches in place but that was really the only fairway not 99% “in play”. Rough was generally consistent but ultimately, not penal. Layout was intriguing and certainly would have been more intimidating if the bunkers were in play. I had one drive carry into a lake that in retrospect, I should have paid more attention to my yardage app (and not hit what was clearly my only 300+ drive of the day). If you are a first timer, reviewing the hole will pay off if you have any length on your drives.

Greens played well, slower than my home course but perfectly acceptable for this time of year.

We only had drink service 2 times in 18 holes on a 97 degree day so plan your water carry or purchases accordingly. There is no other water on the course for you or cleaning a ball/wetting a towel. This seems like something that would be a relatively easy fix and I would encourage the course to figure something out here.

All in all, I think the price of the course was a touch high for the current condition but will be a fair price once the renovations are complete. I do plan on playing here again when the renovations are complete as I expect the course will look and play great. Once complete, I would expect the course conditions to increase 2 to 3 stars (to good/excellent) and value to increase 1 star (to good) from my round today.

Staff at the front desk, in the bar and at the carts was great.

The back 9 they were repairing the fairway and repairing the bunkers

The back 9 was a kind of a waste of money. The bunkers were all being rebuilt and the fairway was under repair. The crew was out there most holes. We should have gotten a discount.

Course in bad shape for that amount of $$

A good portion of holes under constructions, all bunkers are covered and out of play. Maintenance crews I too many holes. More upset that I payed what I did for this. No discount offered by staff for their product.

Very bad course conditions

There was weeds growing in sand traps. Sad traps had standing water. Ponds/lakes were green with algae and the smell was awful. The course would not provide any water( we asked for some) in 111 deg heat. They charged $2.50 per bottle. Tee boxes were not clearly marked. Large rusted equipment was all over the course. It had been there so long, unused, it had sunk into the dirt. There was large dirt areas all over every fairway. Putting greens were like putting on a hay field- very unkept. I have pictures. Will NEVER play there agsin. Charged us $130 on GN- we would like our money back.

GROUNDS KEEPERS RUINED THE FUN

I hope every female golfer reads this review!!! The grounds keepers that were driving around in their trucks b/c the whole course is in terrible shape dismisses me. I was paired with 3 men. On the first issue… a par 5 …. A truck drove right into the fairway and sat while we were ALL about to hit. He didn’t move and didn’t turn his red tractor off.

The bigger issue were two other holes. We were on a par 3 and the keeper let my partners tee off . Then he started his engine and started before I hit my tee shot. I looked at him and he ignored me. Then I stared at him and he still ignored me. It happened later to me ONLY again. The lack of respect ruined the round for me and I will never go back. The management was not around for me to have a conversation about the issue.. women… don’t allow this behavior!!! Stay Respected
