Very fun w/ UK style holes patterned after British Open holes.
Very fun. Links course with history on every hole from specific holes from the UK British Open courses. Rough was difficult but the fairways were in good condition. Greens putted moderate speed. A good time and would repeat.
Fun playing the replica holes...and all those bunkers!
Nice little clubhouse. The staff were very friendly and the starter gave us a very thorough intr/advice session. It was low season so the rate was good. The course was in good condition. No complaints!
Tantalizing
Having Irish/Scottish roots its a dream to go to the home of Golf someday. Getting to see and play holes inspired by the homeland was a great experience. Service was Top Notch. Course and Greens were near perfect.
Well worth green fee
Excellent.....course is challenging yet fair. Excellent condition and staff friendly and helpful
Links in the desert is strange but it works
Booked my tee time early so I could be the 1st one out and as a single I moved around the course with ease and speed, so I can't fairly judge the pace of play.
Staff was great, outside service loaded my bag and told me to leave the keys in my car and I could head to the range after I checked in the with the golf shop (car was parked right up front). In fact, talked to the GM/Pro who was opening after my round and he answered a couple questions I had, even gave me his card said to shoot him an email if I wanted.
As for the course, they were doing some work on the greens, I know if I went 2 or 3 days later they'd be ideal but they were ok that day (I've worked maintenance at some great courses myself so I can be understanding and critical of course conditions at times). The rest of the course was in great shape!
Advice for future players, take advantage of the yardage books! I was lucky to stay out of the fairway bunkers and only got into 1 greenside bunker all day. But they are deep and they'll cost you a shot. You need to think before you hit shots, otherwise it'll be a long day. #10 is the replica of the road hole at St. Andrews and it's very cool (hit it further right off the tee than you think, lots of room).
Links with mountains in the back round, it's different but I'll be back!
great fun
the course was in good condition, staff was great. I thought it was going to be a complete links course, but it was still a wonderful time. the layout was a little odd. All in all I will come back for what i paid.
Tons of fun
Service was outstanding. Course was great. Had a blast and would recommend to anyone.
When it's breezy swing easy!!!!!
Great value course.....played in two and a half hours in the middle of July, condition was great and loved reading about the history of each hole.....only down side is its quite a ways from the strip.
My favorite course in Vegas
After playing here last year I didn't think my experience could get any better. However, this time around I came away even more impressed with this course. The staff here is absolutely amazing. They go the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. The course played real challenging this year. Tough pin placements and the greens ran pretty quick. I enjoyed the challenge. Can't wait to come back and play it again.
Links Style
Every hole at Royal Links was inspired by courses played for the British Open and it was fun to play. No gimmick "target" holes, just straight out links golf complete with hidden pot bunkers in the middle of some fairways. The greens were challenging with many undulations.
The staff at Royal Links was friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this course to the Las Vegas visitor.
Great course, tough bunker placements
Course is in excellent shape, except for #18 (bare and sandy in big patches) the greens were great, rolled very nicely. It was brutally hot even at 10 am, thankfully the cart girl was around every few holes to refresh us. Bunker placements are tough, I hit a few drives in the middle of the fairway that took some bad bounces or rolled out into bunkers, the guy I played with thought they were a bit unfair "if you hit it 250 down the middle you shouldn't be punished like that". Oh well. Definitely take the time to read the course layout book they give you before you tee off on each hole, it will help you plan your shots and hopefully avoid trouble.
What a pleasant surprise
We are familiar with links courses in the British Isles. And if you want to experience that thrill this is the place for you....right down to the castle club house. The course setup is eerily realistic right down to those infuriating deep bunkers in the middle of the fairway. And if you stray into the deep rough forget it. If you want to get a taste of Chambers Bay the site of the U.S. Open this year this is the place for you. Only one differences...the weather...when we played it hovered around 100°. You won't find that in the UK. But a great experience nevertheless.
Very Cool Course
The locals were giving us funny looks and saying that Royal Links was not that great. However, they could not be more wrong. What a fun course to play!!!
It is kind of off the beaten path and in somewhat of an industrial/residential area, but you still get great views and while on the course, you don't see anything but each hole you are on.
They provided a yardage book which gave descriptions of the holes they mimic from the other side of the pond. The staff was amazing. They had just punched the greens and offered to transfer our round to Bali Hai. But we had already played there before and decided to stick with Royal Links. We are so glad we did. We will definitely be hitting this course on the next trip back.
Also, the breakfast burritos were HUGE and tasty. Such a great course for Vegas. You won't find anything else like it. It is in good condition too. The bunkers are in the best condition of any course I have played on in a while. What a treat!!!
Big Boy Course
Very challenging for this high handicapper but well worth the try. Most of the fairways allow for some degree of stray shots. Accuracy onto the greens is the score saver.
Scotland in Las Vegas
True links course, great concept, very enjoyable to play. Great free yardage books to show you the course. Very good condition and I will return.
Best on the strip
Nice course, excellent condition. Was treated like a VIP. Highly recommend. Need a good sand game to excel .
Good course to play
This was my second time playing the course and found it challenging at times with pot hole bunkers around many holes. Stay out of the heather.
This was a great experience
Greens were very impressive. Staff was very friendly. Thx for the chocolate chip cookies! A great course. Great concept. A must play in Vegas.
Great greens
For the middle of winter these were the best greens that I have played on in the Las Vegas. Play was a little slow, no ranger present, but the weather was great and the staff was awesome.
