Finishing up on Man O War Photo submitted by mdPzD0qY6289lECn8Hqg on 12/18/2019
Fun, fun, fun!
Had an amazing time playing this course on a recent guys trip to Myrtle Beach. Pace of play was surprisingly good for a Saturday morning, which was a bonus.
A Wonderful Challenge
The Man-O-War course can be a stern test, but its always one of our favorite courses when my golf groups takes its annual trip to Myrtle Beach. You might want to try "warming up" on one of its sister courses before tackling this one, but you'll be pleasantly rewarded. Really fun layout, wonderful conditioning and great staff. Enjoy!
Solid, fun and unique
One of the best values in Myrtle Beach, Man O' War is a well-kept fun test of golf that seems more intimidating than it really is. Many of the holes are almost completely surrounded by water, but there's really plenty of room on the fairways and the greens are certainly large enough (too large in some cases) to put myriad pin placements. Back-to-back island greens highlight the experience and the 9th has an island fairway.
Great Track!!!
Great Course, in Great Condition.
Water makes you think, but doesn't make the round dreadful.
Greens rolled Great!!!
Play Man-O-War, and get the Chili Dogs!!!
Best course ever
Best golf course I've ever played. Beautiful course. First 9 holes are all about bunkers. The back 9 are all water holes.
Early Fall Fun...
Had a great time. Course saw beautiful and greens were pure. Play was on the slower side but we didn't mind as the eye had plenty to look at. The staff are great and very helpful.
Excellent
Love this course...always challenging and very well maintained!
Good course, not so good staff.
We found the course to be very fair, though if you are a senior the senior tees have some some pretty stout holes (2 par 4's over 370 and 2 par 5's around 500). Pace of play was terrible. We waited on every hole on the front, We had a group cut in front of us at the turn. We tried to flag down a ranger to find out the policy on cutting in, the ranger ignored us and just kept on going. The group that we thought was slow on the front, was a hole and a half ahead of the the cut in group. No effort by the staff to increase the pace of play. When we arrived we were not permitted to put any equipment in the cart until our starting time. So instead of getting ready to play, we were standing around holding coffee cups.
The course layout is very nice a deserves a higher rating but the pace of play and lack of professionalism of the staff cause it to be down graded.
nice conditions and a fair challenges
Nice track where there is alot of water but its fair....no surprises...use the yardage book which is very helpful to pull the right club.
Value for the money not good!!
My husband and I live in Wilmington, NC and have a 2nd home in Myrtle Beach and let staff know. We are at Myrtle Beach every weekend. They said local rates were 55.00. The man at the counter was just about ready to honor local rates but changed his mind stating they don't honor 2nd homes as local rates. We had to pay 75.00 to play. We stayed and played but we will not again. All the courses we play honor our 2nd home in Myrtle Beach with local rate charges. (This was one of the great things about buying a condo in Myrtle Beach)
"Meh"
Frankly, this is a boring course. It's a series of boring, straight holes with few hazards, hills, doglegs or bunkers. There are few trains so it's wide open with little privacy between holes. As well, the course was really busy (they were running 20 minutes behind on tee times) and the staff seemed overwhelmed.
Great place to play.
Course condition was very good. Lush fairways and ruff. The greens were a bit slower than other courses we played.
Great course
the bent grass greens were in great shape...had fun from the whites, the back tees would be all you want...course was in fantastic shape...
Lots of water
I like courses with lots of water and this one had it. I actually liked the layout and the course was in decent shape. That said the conditions were between a mid-level course and a locals course. But I paid a mid-level price. The course did not honor the Golf Now price and the employee at the counter said see it was written here how much to charge you. Regardless that my receipt provided a different number. So my review is definitely lowered by this and I will never return to this course.
course was in great shape
Fairways were in super shape ball set up nice we played the afternoon good pace never held up. would have loved to play 36 there. Staff very nice & helpful. Greens smooth & fast
Good value for the money!
We found the course to be in excellent shape. It was a cold windy day and the big greens were challenging. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The first bunker could use more sand - the others were fine.
There was a frost delay so we were cart path only for the first couple of holes. It was unclear when that rule was lifted. So we just followed the lead of the group in front of us.
Overall, a positive experience despite the challenging conditions.
Good conditions for Late March
Fairways, greens, and rough were green unlike a lot of places in Myrtle during the winter (rough burnt out at most places). Rates were decent and staff was friendly.
Course was in excellent condition.
Fairways, greens all in pristine condition for the end of January.
Played 36 holes enjoyed every minute of it.
better courses for the cost
We played this course on the weekend but was in the afternoon and it was pretty well open. The pace of play was good until we got to the back nine and caught up to groups. It was locals at this time of year on there home course. The greens were not in very good shape as we played other courses in the area that were much better. You could pick between many other courses for the same $40 to $45 greens fee
