Good and Bad

Loved the layout. Fairways were wide and it was easy to avoid the water. Conditions were very good and, considering the amount of rain they received the 2 days prior, the course was not very wet. Only complaint was the pace of play. There was a fivesome, yes a fivesome, two groups in front of my twosome and there was a threesome in front of us. We caught the threesome on hole 5 and had to wait on every shot the rest of the round. We played the front in 1.5 hours and the back in 2.5 hours, which is unacceptable in my book. The fivesome made no attempt at letting the threesome (or us) play thru and there weren't any Rangers policing pace of play. Highly unlikely I will go back due to pace of play, which is sad since I really liked the course.

Excellent all around

Played this course with our normal golf trip foursome and all loved this course. Conditions were excellent, staff was friendly and great layout. A lot of water but more for scenario than true trouble until the closing holes on the back. 5 stars and would have conditions up there with any course we have played in Myrtle. Great rate, lunch and 2 beers included and can bring your own cooler.

Overrated, Over Priced, Underwhelming

I booked online for 2 players and that included lunch and 2 drinks for each person. The lunch was a soaking wet tuna bap that was inedible. The golf course itself is a nice course but not worth the $101 per person. We played the previous day at Springfield GC just south of Charlotte and the whole experience was top grade. From the welcome, to the Starter, the golf course and the expectations they have of the players was superb and the experience was magic. Man O War is only interested the money. There were a number of 6 Balls out there, (yes 6 players in a group) and they had music pumping out that could be heard across fairways. We were a 4 ball and our round was 5.5 hours. No Marshall looking after pace of play and no decorum on the golf course. The club thinks more about the money than the patrons. I won’t be returning.

Challenging for average Joe

Man o War at the Wizard is one of 2 courses on the same grounds. The topography is flat, however, there are ponds, sand traps, and trees positioned to distract your swing and give you fits.

Man O' War

Fun layout, friendly staff and green fees even came with lunch and 2 drinks. Overall great value for the money. If there was only one complaint, it would be the understandably necessary, but annoyingly inconvenient watering of the greens during our round. It just lenes itslef to inconsistent putting conditions, chipping and approach shots from green to green. Would still recommend to anyone visiting Myrtle Beach.

Not worth it

It was wet and I can understand some grooming delays, but the greens were terrible. Extremely slow which can be expected with Myrtle getting a lot of rain, but some were also in poor condition. I expect better for $77 which you can get at Azalea or Beachwood for cheaper. The round did come with free lunch and 2 drinks but that is a basic sandwich or two hot dogs and 2 generic beers or regular beverages. Although the twosome we got paired with were fun it was a terrible experience and I won’t be back. Can’t go wrong with Thistle, Rivers Edge, TPC MB, or the Dye course at barefoot.

Thank you for playing but we had over 6 inches of rain in the 4 days that week before you played on Saturday. There is only 1 green that is in bad shape and the pin was in a good area. Please do not bash us and compare us to low tier courses when we can not control Mother Nature. If you will come back anytime of the year other than August you will be more than pleased with the course

Course was ok, staff good.

Course was average, staff was friendly and gave good instructions.

Maintenance crew was working during the round. They often did not pause equipment while we were taking shots, which was very distracting.

The Man-O-War

Good value. Greens were hairy and very slow with temps near 100 had to water many times thru the round. Fairways were crisp and good condition and scoreable. Nice time and birdied last hole to always bring you back!
