The Classic Club

I enjoy each and every time I’m able to get out at the classic club. I think the course layout is one of the best in the desert and the off course amenities, driving range, putting green, restaurant, and Grill are all excellent. The last time I played, however, there were a couple of small issues with employees that I had not experienced in the past. Not sure if they were having a bad day or if they really just aren’t that interested in their job but outside of that it was once again a great experience.

This was my first time playing this course. It is certainly a premier course that everyone should experience. I enjoyed the scenery and the golf course was fun.

My only disappointment was that the course played very slow. The amenities are wonderful and my wife and I enjoyed dinner at the restaurant that evening.

I certainly would play here again, however the price is a bit higher than other comparable courses!

Great experience, loved it, will come back again. A lot of challenging holes. Not a typical Desert course. Quick 4+ hour round in the heat. Very Creative layout.

Classic Club was in fine form for June conditions, the greens were perfect, as were the fairways. The bunkers were a bit thin, so chip your shots out of them. The wind was up from 8 to10 and played havoc with my score, but laid down for the back side. I always check the Weather Channel before booking the desert, I play here not only because it's a great course, but because of GN tee times here. Can't go wrong playing here!

Course was absolutely great and Staff was amazing was our first time here and we definitely will be back unfortunately we got some wind course was very challenging but we still had a great strongly recommend playing here if you haven’t yet

Excellent course, beautiful condition. Think twice playing this course in windy conditions.

My last review was all about unreasonable course marshals, today, Classic Club was perfect! I played as my usual single and was paired with a nice husband and wife team and another senior who hadn't played the course before. Luckily, the wind was down, so it was easier for our group to stay on time, the marshal only asked us to speed up twice. The temp was mild at 92° when we finished at 12:15, after a 4:15 round. Conditions were great except for a couple thin bunker lies, including a big flat rock that led to a triple bogey. Everything else was perfect! Better than PGA West public courses, I'm A Torrey Pines member and if the Classic had the ocean, it would be a Top 5 course in the State.

Love the course. Great test of golf. Course was in great shape. Staff was excellent as usual.

Caveat: This is the first time this happened... I love this course, but for over a hundred dollars, there is zero reasons for the course marshals ruining my round. I joined two nice guys to tee off at 7:10am. The wind was howling over 15 mph with gusts over 25. I'd played here in these conditions a few times before and knew it was going to be a rough day. The group ahead of us was over a hole ahead when we teed off, but I still kept an eye on the GPS time. My group was 11 minutes behind for a brief period and we were about 5 minutes behind the cart time the whole round. Yet, we were chastened by three different course marshals 7 times! More importantly, we were over a hole ahead of the group behind us nearly the entire round. We finished 3 minutes behind on a day that was extremely difficult, on a day that I shot 90 from the whites, 8 strokes higher than my average score from the blues at Classic Club. I've been employed in nearly every aspect of the Golf industry, including Club Pro, and this should never have happened, whether playing a dirt track Muni or one of the best courses in So Call!

Only bad was the pace of play wasn’t enforced.

I love this course, but the sanctimonious behavior of the course marshals ruined my day. I was paired with two nice guys who'd never played the course before, nor were they strong players. The wind howling 15-20 mph with gusts over 25. The course is extremely difficult in these conditions, made worse by the fact that the course marshals hounded us to keep up with the group in front of us. The fact was we finished 5 minutes off of the pace of the cart GPS, the group behind us was over one hole behind most of the day and the worst time we were behind was 11 minutes. Hardly a good enough reason for the marshals to harangue us seven times, especially on such a difficult day!

I really enjoy coming back. Always expect good course conditions. Got it. Love the clubhouse and the views. I managed to get a deal on that day we golfed. All the other days I looked were at around 150.00-160 US. For us Canucks, too expensive for 3rd week of May. I think some of these courses are trying to make their money back from Covid.
