The Classic Club
About
On the Classic Club's scenic landscape, golfers will find a wide variety of trees including olive trees, towering pines, and California pepper, but unlike the many other golf courses in Palm Springs, there isn't a single palm tree. The Classic Club opened in 2006 to much acclaim and has since garnered a following amongst locals and visitors. Formerly a host site for the Bob Hope Classic, the challenging layout has an interesting mix of tour-worthy holes including intimidating par 3s balanced by reachable par-5s and short par-4s. Water hazards come into play on 13 holes. The back nine begins with a memorable stretch of holes. The par-4 10th is a tight driving hole with an elevated green and the 11th hole requires a shot over water. The stretch ends with the par-3 12th, which also plays over water to a well protected green.

What a difference a couple years make
First the positives, the staff and clubhouse are very nice. In years past, the course was always immaculate. Today, however, the course was a real disappointment. Poor conditioning, slow pace of play and rangers that just drove around. Set back from of the holes we’re camping spots. Maybe an indication that the Classic Club is facing tough times. No water is available on the course save 4 bottles of water on the course. Not enough when playing in warmer weather. This had been an annual favorite. This course will dropped from our rotation unless we hear that it’s restored to its prior lushness.
As good as it gets
Great layout with water everywhere. Not for the faint of heart. I have played all the public courses in the valley and this is clearly the hardest and best.
Not sure what I was expecting but this course exceeded it. Beautiful views, great layout, and I was matched up with another single and a couple that had played the course before. Played on a holiday, which apparently means that they run a shotgun start so the staff can enjoy at least half a day off. Kind of tells you a lot about the management here. They care about their staff and they treat their guests very well. There are outstanding views on every hole, and as long as you pick the correct tees, this course will be challenging to all levels of golfer. Greens can be tricky to read, but run true..... don't get above the hole or it will be a long day. Will definitely be back
Stunning Tough but Forgiving
This course is a must play, the fairways and greens were flawless. The pictures of the course on the net do not do it justice. Its filled with perfect sand traps filled with YES, perfect sand!. The greens were a 12 the day i played and smooth, The tee boxes were lush and flat. My only regret was that the round was over.
A Palm Springs Classic!
There was a reason this course was in the rotation for the Bob Hope Classic. It is a great track and can be very challenging when there is wind. It has great shot values, is in superb condition and the Troon staff model is in full force, they are top tier!
Wide Open, great views, challenging back 9
The course was wide open off the tee allowing an aggressive golfer to let loose. The greens were large and rolled true. And the mountains in the distance provided a nice distraction when my swing wasn’t cooperating. The back nine was much prettier than the front as water really came into play on the majority of the holes. For $160 per round, the price is high in comparison to others nearby. I would play again if I found a deal pushing the green fees closer to $80-100.
I am a 10 index who travels to the desert a few times per year for golf weekends. My favorite tracks in the desert are Escena, Mountain Course, Stadium, both Indian Wells courses and Firecliff at Desert Willow.
Meh
Friendly staff.
Marshall’s should be more vigilant on pace of play.
Course is nothing special. Better value elsewhere.
A Classic indeed!
First time playing Classic Club which came recommended from others both before and during my trip. I am thankful for these recommendations because Classic Club was my favorite Palm Springs course. I played.
The Golfweek, Golf Digest, Golf Magazine ratings for this course will certainly be returning to the top 10 in California now that they've installed their outstanding new bunkers.

This course is so solid from start to end. I cannot recall a boring or throwaway hole, with #1 being the weakest and the holes only getting better from there. The layout is just fantastic with a perfect balance of fun/challenge/visual appeal.
I played this course last and it really made me appreciate just how balanced the layout is and how superb the conditions were. It was the only course I played that truly felt like a destination course with no houses, condos, facilities or other eyesores to distract from the beautiful views.
I can recommend Classic Club without reservations to anyone.
Immaculate
This is a must!!! I live in Coachella Valley, in the city of Palm Springs, California. This course offers the best in a golf experience. The staff is helpful and professional. I played the course it was to close for seeding and bunker repair and I still loved it. I anticipate the next round I play there. The membership for Valley residents is amazing and well worth it. I highly recommend this course for people visiting this area. Thank you, Fellow Hacker, Henry Hernandez
Great facility and Course
Staff in all areas were excellent. Service in the Grill a bit slow but attentive.
Course was in good shape, greens a bit slow but understand why. Bunker renovation was very good, nice to play out of. T boxes and fairways were excellent. The rough was thin.
Fairways are very wide on most holes although water does narrow a few down. Par threes were interesting and challenging.
Finished in under 4 hours, will be back
Classic Club
Rode the Blues (6711/72.9/135) in less than 3H as a single using Troon Rewards. The weather was around 90, overcast and actually sprinkled during parts of the round.
Classic Club was closed for 2 months this summer for a full bunker renovation and only recently reopened. They utilized the closure time to also resod weak areas of tees, fairways, rough and numerous greens. Most of the resodded areas are still not ready for prime time, but should be great by the time they reopen after fall over seeding. I did not expect great conditions considering they were only going to be open for a month sandwiched between long closure periods. However, was pleasantly surprised at how lush and green the place is.
The Bermuda tees were level and lush with great coverage. Par 3's were pretty chewed up, but the other 14 were excellent.
The Bermuda fairways were lush, mowed close and firm.
The Bermuda rough was lush. Nice to chip from as the ball usually set up.
The sand traps looked the part of a full bunker renovation. Do not play here if you do not like to play out of soft white marble sand that is thick and deep. They look and played great with all their borders resodded Bermuda.
The Bermuda greens were mostly smooth but medium slow. The original greens are mowed lower and are firmer. The places that have been resodded seemed to be mowed higher and were softer. Overall, currently mediocre, but I suspect they will putt excellent after fall over seeding.
The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered. Drink cart out making the rounds. Nice GPS on the carts. Complementary water and range balls on a 1st class grass practice facility. Everything about this place is top notch. Definitely recommended.
Course Conditon
Many spots on the fairway and greens were in poor condition. For the area this course is top price but course conditions did not command the value.
A home run!
outstanding course especially for the money, their all inclusive style club is fantastic from the bag drop through the office and onto the first tee we came in contact with friendly, helpful staff and enjoyed a 4:15 pace starting at 7:00 on a Saturday morning... I’ll be back for sure... 5 stars across the board!
