On the Classic Club's scenic landscape, golfers will find a wide variety of trees including olive trees, towering pines, and California pepper, but unlike the many other golf courses in Palm Springs, there isn't a single palm tree. The Classic Club opened in 2006 to much acclaim and has since garnered a following amongst locals and visitors. Formerly a host site for the Bob Hope Classic, the challenging layout has an interesting mix of tour-worthy holes including intimidating par 3s balanced by reachable par-5s and short par-4s. Water hazards come into play on 13 holes. The back nine begins with a memorable stretch of holes. The par-4 10th is a tight driving hole with an elevated green and the 11th hole requires a shot over water. The stretch ends with the par-3 12th, which also plays over water to a well protected green.

Classic time

Pick your day, cause you don't want it windy at the Classic Club! Was stupendous when I was there. The greens/fairways are lovely and fast.

Only complaint, (first world problem) the sand traps had very little sand. Like concrete trying to exit. BUt if I was a better player, I shouldn't be in them in the first place. DIfficlut not to be on a lot of holes as there are an abundance of traps.

Can't wait to go back.

PS. Great selection of women's clothing in the pro shop.

Fantastic course and facilities

This place is great from start to finish! Cost a little more but includes free towel and food voucher for 15$. Course is in incredible condition although there was a tournament on the same day so we were held up on the back 9 when we caught them up. Cartpaths are wide, tees and greens are immaculate and clubhouse food and service was one of the best we've experienced...

Great course ruined by pace of play

Beautiful course -- a little out of character for Palm Springs, but great nonetheless. Almost a Carolina-course kind of feel to it. Course was in immaculate condition. Greens were slightly slow, but true. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Downside is that our round took 5+ hours! For this price, completely unacceptable to pack players on -- and even more unacceptable for the rangers not to keep things moving. Rangers were nice when we complained, but didn't seem to do much. They made excuses about having several bachelor parties earlier in the day. I get it, but letting bachelor parties degrade the experience for your other paying customers is not good business.

By comparison, we played Desert Willow the next day (on a busy Saturday at the resort). Got the round done in a little over 4 hours. Had much more fun! We will go back to Desert Willow, very unlikely to return to Classic Club given all the other great options in Palm Springs...

Great Experience

This course is unusual for the desert, with pine trees everywhere. Looks more like Colorado in some ways than Palm Springs. The 360 views are terrific, the course is in great shape, everyone treats you very well. All in all one our best experiences in the desert.

Beautiful Course

Although the course was extremely challenging for our ability, we thought it was outstanding. The conditions of the greens and fairways were suberb. It was a special circumstance to afford to play on this course otherwise it is too expensive for us. Most enjoyable experience.

Beautiful course. Course conditions pretty good. Views and layout make it worth it. Staff a bit rude to my wife when she arrived to pick me up....said it was closed and she was not allowed in...said she could not get a drink...but the drink had already been ordered and I was waiting to enjoy a few moments with her.

Will consider other course choices in the future.

Amazing

We booked this course same day. Conditions were phenomenal. The fairways were like carpet, greens rolled true, and I thought it was one of the better courses I have ever played. Golf towel was included for free as well as a food and average voucher for $15.. Teed off before 3. Seemed like we had the course to ourselves and the slight breeze kept us cool. We will be back for sure. The only negative we're the bunkers were very hard packed below the top inch or so. It took me a bit to get used to. Pretty forgiving tee shots but they did seem to lead your shots to fairway bunkers.

Great layout, inconsistent greens

We liked the course. Unlike any other course we've played in P Springs -- lots of water, some hills and grass rough. My one complaint was that the greens did not roll consistently from hole to hole - some fast and some slow. I'm not sure I've played a course in this area with inconsistent greens before.

Fantastic experience

Played this course last in 2012 so it's been awhile, what was I waiting for? As I remembered it and reconfirmed - fantastic layout, always in great shape, fast greens, excellent warm up facilities and locker room and challenging. This is one of the best in Palm Springs. It seems a bit pricey but includes a $15 food voucher to their world class restaurant and compared to the other top courses in the area is actually a bargain. Word of caution in the afternoon of its windy this course plays tough.

Best course in the valley

We played classic club for the first time and were very happy with everything! The course layout is tough but fair so it works for mid to low handicappers. They even have a forward orange tee for beginners. The conditions were great and the scenery is beautiful. We played in just over four hours which was awesome. No waiting on any tees which can happen on some of the public courses. Staff were friendly everywhere and the lunch afterwards was delicious.

We loved it and are going back today!

A course in the top echelon near Palm Springs

The Classic is always a treat to play. It's in great condition and the layout is magnificent. Nobody expects a course like this in this area east of Highway 10. It has a beautiful clubhouse and was built for the Bob Hope Classic Tournament. Play it when it's not too windy. We make a point of playing here every time we come down and are never disappointed. Each hole is a great challenge in a beautiful setting. Watch out for greens with false fronts and fairways which slope towards water or traps. The greens are as quick as any in the area, but they run true. Spend some time on the practice green before your game.

A Great Experience!

Everything was great. We rated staff friendliness lower because of the Starter, who was uncommunicative and grouchy. However, this was dramatically offset by Gina, the waitress in Bellatrix, who was outstanding; and by the rest of the staff, all of whom were wonderful.

Course experience was excellent, and we would definitely play there again. Cost was a bit steep given the "deals" that one can find in the area.
