About
On the Classic Club's scenic landscape, golfers will find a wide variety of trees including olive trees, towering pines, and California pepper, but unlike the many other golf courses in Palm Springs, there isn't a single palm tree. The Classic Club opened in 2006 to much acclaim and has since garnered a following amongst locals and visitors. Formerly a host site for the Bob Hope Classic, the challenging layout has an interesting mix of tour-worthy holes including intimidating par 3s balanced by reachable par-5s and short par-4s. Water hazards come into play on 13 holes. The back nine begins with a memorable stretch of holes. The par-4 10th is a tight driving hole with an elevated green and the 11th hole requires a shot over water. The stretch ends with the par-3 12th, which also plays over water to a well protected green.

Golfer Reviews
One of the best in the valley
We played on Dec 24, so it was not overly busy. We finished in just under 4 hours and enjoyed a great blackened mahi, mahi, in the resturant where the food is always good,
Greens, teeboxes, traps were all in excellent condition. Some of the fairways were a little sparse. The classic club remains one of the best courses in Palm Spings which makes it very difficult to get tee times.
Classic is class
I played this course for the first time and found it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We started on the back nine which, I'm told, is the harder of the 9's. There are a number of holes where water comes into play and all the greens are well bunkered. The front 9 is definitely the gentler side with more room for your drives. The course was in great shape and the greens, well the greens were the fastest I've ever played. But if you master the speed they roll true. The facilities and staff are first rate. A definite must play if you want a public course with all the amenities of a private course .
pristine golf
This course was amazing. At first iit was a challenge but once I figured out that every hole has a "safe" side it was way more manageable.Deep bunkers and fast greens with water in play on most holes can make your score rise fast.Overall beautiful course and great round!
Dec. 6th
This is a truly excellent golf course and a lot of fun for all levels of play. However, in December, don't start after noonish, because the pace was a little slow and we had to finish #18 in the dark.
Beautiful course on a beautiful day
Recommended to me by a guy I played with the day before. The course is a great challenge, imperative to avoid the numerous water hazards, which I didn't do very well. The course was in great shape, pace of play was solid at just over 4 hours. Would definitely play here again!
Classic Club is a Cut Above
The Classic Club is the best golf course I've ever played by a wide margin. The practice facilities are awesome. I felt like Tin Cup when I got on the driving range... "Look at these brand new Titleist's... sneak a few in the bag when you get a chance." But the experience on the course is second to none. Tee to green - everything on the course is immaculate. The greens are PERFECT right now! The views are insane, and it doesn't hurt that I was playing really well after a week of golf in Palm Springs. Beverage cart ladies came around every second hole, comfort stations were beautiful and provided free water. I could go on and on - but book this course if you can and it's in your price range (or even if it's now).
Beautiful course the best we played all week.
Challenging especially with the windy day we had. But enjoyed the course.
Great track
This place rocks. Even in the wind it plays great. In would highly recommend to any level of golfer. Immaculate park like shape, well done Troon Golf.
great course for women of all abilities
My group loved everything about the course. 6 sets of tees make a challenge for all abilities. It is a beautiful course in great shape
Wow, wonderful but too hot
Excellent beautiful course. Challenging too.
Too hot to enjoy. Don't recommend if over 94 degrees
Good,...but not great
Hard to believe that this was once a PGA tour course -- or maybe why it isn't any longer. Don't mean to be too negative as it was a good course in good to excellent condition,...but,,... not memorable.
My favorite course in Palm Springs area
Have played 30 + courses in area over the last 15 years and Classic Club is # 1 without question. Every hole is memorable . Views amazing as well as service by staff at course and in restaurant . Love holes 9 thru 12 the best
Classic Club
The sand traps need more sand. Pin positions were tournament positions on some holes. Overall course in good shape.
Best Course in Palm Springs area
We arrived at the course and were greeted by two guys at the bag-stand, they did everything right. The place is luxury. Undoubtedly the finest golf course I have played in 20 years. You had to search to find a spot that was not perfect on the course, and the user friendly first cut was 20 yards wide.
Our Golfnow tee time was @ 10:48 AM. We checked in, went to the range and the starter approached us. Since we were a twosome and lots of people were already on the course he asked if we would like to start on #8, close to the clubhouse, and we would be out in front of everyone. Of course we would. The Golf course is incredible, there are lakes all over the place, massive waterfalls, many, many sand traps and very nice elevated greens. When we got off the green @ 18, a guy was there to escort us to the 1st tee to finish our front 7.
We finished our round in just over 3 hours and I looked at my brother and said, "If they offer a decent replay fee, would you like to play a second round". He said "you must be reading my mind" We asked the cart guys and Marshal. Yes, a very reasonable $25 and the first tee is open.
We paid the fee and finished the second round in just over 3 hours. The cart guy cleaned up our clubs, jumped on the back and invited us to drive the cart to our car.
A great day at a magnificent golf layout, what more could you ask for. This place knows how to treat their customers, something that is truly appreciated.
Should be a top choice while in Palm Springs
Excellent course conditions. Wide open play. Wife with 25 handicap had a good time from purple T at 5300 yds. Blue at 6700 fair challenge for me. We both played while virtually wide open in front and behind us. Locker rooms very nice, we showered after the round. Food (salmon sandwich) and beverage service great. Nice staff.
GREAT round and lunch
Round included GPS cart, unlimited water bottles on ice every few holes, range balls, $15 lunch coupon. Course in fantastic condition. Best round this week in Palm Springs. Salmon sandwich cooked perfectly. Cold beer and cocktails in club house complemented the good food. Oh, and I played with my wife who is a 25 handicap and the course was very fair from forward tees. Good time for both.
The best of Palm Springs
Absolutely a must play in Palm Springs. The place oozes class - from the welcome to the little gifts to the 5 star golf course. You know you're on a class course when the first tee grass looks better than most of the greens you have played on ! Fairways immaculate - you could stick a flag in them anywhere and they'd be better than most of the greens elsewhere ! Sure - it's not cheap but class usually costs !
Fun Course from the Right Tees
I had heard great things about the course, and I wasn't disappointed. The course is in good shape for summer, though some of the fairways were soaked to the point of having mud balls in 100 degree weather. I wouldn't want any part of this course from the tips, especially on a windy day. I played the white tees and it was fun. I had trouble with the speed of the greens, but I'm not used to Bermuda greens. I don't think it's my favorite course in the desert, but it's a good one.
