Chariot Run
Best shape for a course in southern Indiana. Course will test you and make you hit your target. Great facility!
d71
Great place to play challenging course keep the ball in the fairways or pay the price
Worth Finding
The staff was very courteous and friendly and the course was in excellent shape. The greens were as fast faster as any I've played on, but very fair.
Worth the drive!
Off the beaten path, but a unique and challenging layout. Excellent course with challenging and fast greens.
Little gem off the beaten path.
It's a little bit out of the way but once you arrive you will be greeted by a very friendly staff. The links style course is in great condition with 5 sets of tees for golfers of all levels. The greens roll true with subtle undulations. The bunkers are maintained well and strategically placed. Lots of native grass that is played as a lateral hazard which keeps the pace of play up. The bar and grill has a relatively limited menu but the food is good and the staff is friendly and helpful. Our food was going to take a litte longer to prepare than our time allowed so the staff delivered our food out to us on the course. Overall a great experience !
Awesome course
Great course tee to green, they just don't get any better than this. I've played this course a few times a year for the last 5 years and it is in the best shape that I have ever seen it. Greens are awesome, fairways are like playing off carpet. I love the links look of the bunkers and the stack sod bunker on #6 is a nice touch. It's nice to play a championship golf course for less than $50 thru the week. I WILL be back and highly recommend this course to anyone that enjoys playing a challenging golf course.
Best I've played
I've played a lot of courses all over the country and while it may sound strange this course is my favorite of all. It's challenging for sure but playable by anyone of any level. Have to keep it in the fairway for sure there is no hitting it out of the rough. There aren't any holes the same like other courses where you might find 3 or 4 holes simply straight and long. The up and down play and twists and turns plus excellent bunker locations make it tough but fun. Few trees come in to play by that's good considering the difficulty the course provides. I wholeheartedly re come d it. Could use some "shade shelters" along the way. There certainly is no shade to stand under while waiting on the tee.
Great course
fantastic course, beautiful layout, great long grass surrounds bunkers and borders rough. Greens always PERFECT, PGA Tour speeds of 12.2 Stimp. Great variety of tee options, challenging for the best and very playable for the not-so-great. Highly recommend.
Excellent Course - needs to take the next step
I played this course on Friday afternoon on my way to the PGA tournament for the weekend.
Overall, the course design was challenging and in pretty decent shape. I feel the overall experience would have been better if the management works on a couple of things:
1) Even though we had a scheduled tee time, the management took it upon themselves to move our tee time back 25 minutes to group us with another twosome. This put us in dangerously close to finishing in the dark and not completing our round and if we had other plans we would have missed them. They did not provide a valid reason except to say that is what they show in their system (even though I had an email from them stating otherwise). That meant we did a lot of waiting early on.
2) The course does not have any type of yardage books in the cart or available to purchase in the pro shop. This makes it more difficut to play the course since you don't know distances to blind locations or bends in the fairway on tee shots. I gladly drop $5 for a yardage book.
3) In reading previous reviews, I was anticipating immaculate greens, unfortunately, when I played, the greens were riddled with ball marks. Very unfortunate. I've been lucky enough to play Forest Dunes in Michigan a few times (#21 Publci Course by Golf Magazine) and was hoping for greens like I encounter there (or at least somewhat close). Please everyone - fix your ball marks (and one additional) and learn the proper way. Pull towards the center, do not lift up.
4) When we arrived there was no one working the bag drop - don't know if they sent the people home (because it was raining earlier in the day or it's always like that.
As I stated earlier, the course itself was enjoyable and if the management takes some of the next steps to "up the game", it would could be one of the better courses in the state.
Hidden Gem; Super Value
What a great course! Not so hidden I guess, since it was so busy and slow. That was the only issue. Wonderful conditions and fast greens. Nice variety of hole designs. Lovely!
Best Course in Area
Great course, from blue tees #1 and #9 are monster par 4's. Fast, Fast greens I love that!
Great value for your golfing dollars
This is a really nice course and I'd love an opportunity to play there again. The staff was AWESOME and really makes you feel your welcome there. I just can't say enough about how nice they are there!
The only complaint I have and it's pretty petty is, the group in front of us was very novice, at best and for some reason they played from the back tee's. Needless to say, we were held up all day long! I think they should had a course ranger monitoring the course to insure no one gets held up. Slow players, TEE IT FORWARD!
fast greens
the course has a reputation for fast greens and fast they are. great layout very pleasing to the eye. For the price best deal in Indiana. To score you will need to play it a few times to understand how to attack the greens. A joy to play.
Great Course despite all the rain from the previous night
This course is always in excellent shape but we had a lot of rain the night before and it was very wet playing but the conditions were still in excellent shape despite it being wet. If this course were closer to civilization I would play it more than what I do now.
Chariot run
Let's start with the rangers, well I guess the term would just be starter. Other than sometimes stalking certain groups with players under 40 years of age, they are very rude and not very helpful. Secondly, the course used to get the correct amount of play but now the greens look like mine fields because of the next issue. Chariot has turned into a RETIREMENT COMMUNITY, look I get the older generation just wants to play golf but terribly sorry, but chariot run is not the place for old men who can't hit the ball straight or over a 100 yards. With wind blowing you can expect 3-4 groups a hole of these baby boomers that absolutely ruin a great golf experience. Furthering the problem is that the rangers are all 70 years old or older and favor the older groups of the course, hence the pace of play issue. Please old men, you can't break 100 from the ladies tees, you three putt from 20 feet on the fast immaculate greens, and the rip the greens up trying to bend over and get your ball, so please old men, stop playing chariot run and overrunning an otherwise phenomenal golf course!
nice place
Tough course well worth the money. I will definitely be back. Only one thing price for food and beer are high.
Fast Undulating Greens
I enjoy playing this course due to the layout and the greens.
I am disappointed with my fellow golfers for not doing their part to keep up the course. They are failing to repair ball marks and rake the traps. I was repairing 8-10 fresh ball marks per green.
Best greens around
Greens are fast and true. It's a little drive out there but well worth it.
A Tough But Enjoyable Challenge
Chariot's Run is a first class facility. You pay for your bad shots. Think before you even try to play out of the heather. The greens are fast but true. Study #6 and #13 before you tee off, both are a bit quirky. The only thing missing here (with the sole exception of #16) is trees. If the sun is out in force, take precautions, as there is no place to hide.
Fast greens...
Fast greens. Challenging course. Makes you pay for bad shots. Really tests your game.
