Rams Hill Golf Club
About
Located at the heart of the immense Anza Borrego State Park, Rams Hill Golf Club sits perched on a hillside overlooking the desert floor. Tom Fazio designed the course, fully utilizing the existing features of the terrain from the natural slopes and undulations to the many lakes and streams. The layout features rolling fairways and elevated greens framed by carefully sculpted bunkers. Each hole has a different character, as well as a different set of challenges, thanks to the natural elevation changes. The final hole is considered a classic Fazio finishing hole and one of the most memorable on the golf course. This par 5 begins with a downhill tee shot to a wide fairway that slopes towards a large lake on the right, then you'll face an uphill third shot to a green protected by an array of threatening bunkers and a large waterfall.

Pace of play
As usual "they" said it was real busy that day and a function went out earlier in the day. More a complaint about people that feel they paid their money and no one is going to rush them. Course was awesome and I would definitely return. Overall it's real nice
Great Golf Day
Thoroughly enjoyed our round at Rams Hill. Course was in perfect condition. Weather was perfect. It's a drive to get there but is well worth it. I'll be returning soon.
Fabulous experience!
Couldn't ask for a more helpful golf staff! Lots of info in the course. It's beautifully manicured, repaired every night. This course was so fun! Can't wait to return. The excellent reviews are well deserved.
The restaurant was also terrific! Food was fresh, well presented and delicious. The chef went the extra mile for a gluten free request. Wait staff and bartender all exceeded expectations! Thank you!
RamsHill
It was an excellent course. Best condition of any course I have played. It was windy but otherwise a Great course, huge greens , lots of sand but lots of room to avoid most of them.
Great views.
Outstanding course. Lots of elevated tee boxes with great views. Fairways and greens in great shape. 5 hour round but worth the wait to play this course. Also gave you time to get to know the people I was matched up with. Starter was outstanding. Meets you at the first tee box to go over stuff. Head golf pro was also excellent. Would definitely play this course again when in the area. The restaurant and club house is also first class. When playing this course show up early so you can enjoy all the amenities this place offers.
Hidden Gem
Since Rams Hill is really the only show in town in Borrego Springs, one is a captive audience. But it's like being captured by a tribe of beautiful amazons. You don't mind a bit.
Tom Fazio did the redesign from the original Ted Robinson track. It's memorable, playable, and all in all worth travelling to the remote location.
El Perfecto!!!
Rams Hill is a perfect example of how a golf course should be managed. And it all starts with the staff. This was our first time to Rams Hill in Borrego Springs and we could not have been more delighted with how our day at the golf course went. Every staff person we met seemed to be at the top of their game. From the greeting we received when we first stepped out of our vehicle at the bag drop through to the final farewell as we departed from the restaurant after our round, the staff at the golf course went above and beyond to make us feel appreciated and valued as a customer. There is no question that playing conditions at Rams Hill are absolutely outstanding but on top of it all it was the staff that really stood out on this day.
Yep....5 stars is right
Not much to add to the glowing accolades for Rams Hill.
My first time out there - it was all you can hope for in a golf course. Perfect conditions. Great layout, tough but not too punishing. Staff was great, and the facilities are top-notch.
I did read one comment about how this could be #1 in a land with Bandon Dunes. Having played Bandon last year, I'll say these are two very different sites. Bandon is an amazing piece of land with great courses - the WOW factor is off the charts. Rams Hill's wow factor is lower, but still wow. Rams Hill gets the A+ for a great course design and immaculate conditions everywhere that grass exists.
If you ever get the chance, do it.
Beautiful day and course
This is a very nice course. Great shape. Sun, No wind and 75f. Could not have been better. The course oveebooked as a large group of players came out from San Diego and the course squeezed them in. Good for the course but slowed play down. They were also short of carts so my daughter offered to walk (3 of us) so we could get out on course. Seemed to be a novelty that she wanted to walk!
Staff very friendly.
Beautifully groomed challenging course
Rams hill is a beautifully groomed course with breathtaking views on every single hole. The staff were very friendly and helpful. While vacationing in Southern California I read that they were the #1 rated golf course in the country. I had to see for myself, I was not disappointed. The course was beautiful, the staff was friendly, the food was great, and the prices very reasonable
Rams Hill excellent course!
The course was recommended to us, and did not disappoint! The course is in excellent condition, and the mountain views spectacular! We will definitely play here again. After our round, we enjoyed an excellent dinner in the clubhouse restaurant. All in all, a wonderful overall experience!
A top notch course
The layout and conditions were perfect. It was a very windy day which affected our results but I'd go back in a flash. We saw a pelican on the hole number 3. They have several interesting holes. Be sure to stay left on the 18th.
Incredible
Second time playing Rams Hill, it doesn't disappoint. The course is in such good condition, it is like playing a very high end private club. Pace of play is good, and the staff is extremely helpful. If I still lived in San Diego I would try to get out there a couple times a month. It is way easier to get to than I first anticipated, it is a fun drive. We drove out and played 36 holes, which I would recommend to anyone as the course is so good.
Very nice course. We waited on almost every hole. The greens were very slow and very difficult. Nice weather for the first 11 holes then got very windy but . we will be back.
Excellent, highly recommend
Everything was perfect. The best tip is to remember that every putt breaks to the Salton Sea. The only reason to not play Rams Hill is the drive to get there. Course seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Requires some white knuckle driving for long stretches on severely winding and narrow mountain roads. The drive is so unpleasant that it will make me think twice about playing it again, especially if leaving after the sun goes down.
Amazing golf destination
Rams Hill is by far one of the great unheard of golf gems in the California desert. Extremely friendly staff starting with Mike S. the head pro. No questions or requests go unheard. The course I believe rivals the Madison club in La Quinta and with over 100 courses in the Coachella valley this beats them all. The beauty, pace of play and the food are far and above anything in the desert.Try the shrimp cocktail. you won't find a better one on this continent! This is golf thirty years ago, only with all the new equipment. Thank you all for making my play unforgettable.
Beautiful course --worth the drive from Palm Desert
This is truly a magnificent course but can play long from the blue tees on a windy day.
Every thing about this golf experience is first class and we play it each year on vacation.
Highly recommended
Beautiful course in excellent condition. Greens and traps were consistent, and well maintained.
Rams Hill!
Played today at 12:40 and as usual the course was in incredible shape! Always a treat to travel down south and play here! Weather was perfect and the pace of play was fantiastic, it felt like we were the only foursome on the course. Rams hill is absolutely worth the travel time as no one would be disappointed playing this hidden gem in the Middle of the desert. Can't Wait to get back out and play it again.
