Rams Hill Golf Club

Rams Hill is an incredible course and should be on everyone's bucket list. If you go to Rams Hill's website, it says "The Middle of Nowhere. Exactly Where You Need to Be.", and I can't think of a better way to describe the course. The view in my photo is from the tee of the par 4 hole #7, and I think is the highest elevation of the course. It wasn't a particularly clear day, with some dust in the air, but you can see the view of the valley floor and the mountains. It is truly something special, and you really feel like you are playing on an incredible course "in the middle of nowhere". It is special and I highly recommend it.

I have been playing Rams Hill 3 or 4 times a year for about the last 10 years. It is a special course and make a point of playing it every time I visit Borrego Springs.

There are still several places in the fairway that need some attention. I will say that it is better than it was last year, but there are several holes that still need a little attention. I would have probably marked the "Value for the Money" a little worse, but I was able to book a Golf Now "Hot Deal" and apply a 20% discount. This made it a fairly reasonable price for the course conditions. Still, a very special course and one that every golfer should play at least once.

Bit of a trek, worth it to check out, especially if you get a deal time. Very forgiving course, 2 free tacos, amd great scenery.

Definitely some patchy areas, but in that environment in the middle of nowhere hard to keep it pristine all season.

Amazing course, had a deal time and promo code for $93 and well worth it, but bit of a trek to make it out there. For anyone on the fence, suggest going out before they shut down for the summer

I got there early with my group. We had an amazing lunch with a great view. The staff was amazing. The course also was amazing beautiful views great weather would definitely recommend this course.

We had an amazing day! Absolutely perfect weather, and the course was in great condition overall. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were some patchy areas but most of the fairways and greens were in great condition. It’s a desert jewel, and we just happen to be there on a perfect day in regard to weather and wind. The wind was picking when we were on the 18th hole at about 3:00p. It’s pricey, but worth the trip and fee for a special outing.

Course conditions were fabulous greens were perfect and quick for the great amount of undulations. Played with a resident which really helps with reading the breaks.

Fazio design which means deep fairway and green side bunkers. Wind can be a factor and makes 18 really tough into the wind. Great shot values and very scenic course.

As nice as the course is the clubhouse, restaurant and bar were fabulous! The entire staff from the greeters and car attendants up to head Pro and COO were on point!

Long drive from LA and San Diego but close to Palm Springs.

We vacation for 6-8 weeks in the Palm Springs area every year and often drive down to Borrego Springs to try to catch the wildflowers in bloom. Often we will combine that with a round of golf at Rams Hill, the last time in 2018. This year we arrived in time to have a wonderful lunch overlooking the beautiful 1st and 18th holes. We teed off at 12:20pm.

We were disappointed to find the fairways that we remembered as green and lush to be very thin and patchy. We had to resort to winter rules to find mediocre patches of grass to set the ball on. Tee boxes were fine, greens were good although they would not hold approach shots. There were also a couple pin placements that were ridiculous and unfair for public golf where shots were hit into the green near the pin but rolled several feet down severe slopes nearly ending up off the green 60-80 feet from the hole.

But by far the worst part of the day was the pace of play. We were behind a group of poor golfers that clearly did not understand the need to play at a decent pace nor the etiquette of letting faster players play through. We never saw a Marshall on the course that we could refer the problem to and this group in front of us ended up several holes (5-6) behind the group ahead of them. We ended up finishing in a couple minutes over five hours!!

A real shame to spend that much money to play a marvelous layout with spectacular views and great features, only to have it tainted by the conditions of the fairways and the pace of play. On this day Rams Hill was not worthy of the top 100 rating that it is so fond of touting.

Really enjoyed our round at Rams Hill on a very windy day, mostly 2-club wind with 3-club wind on the last 6 holes. The wind didn’t matter, it was still a glorious day on a gorgeous course. The course conditions have improved a lot since last year when the fairways were subpar. Way mo better this year.

The 3 opening holes are tough, with the triple whammy of long, uphill and into the wind.

But the course opens up after that, …offering a nice mix of long and short par-4s, and enjoyable par-3s and par-5s.

The layout is engaging and the service by the staff is outstanding as usual. We’ll be back.

Second time there and great staff, practice facility, and Tacos on the turn!!

They still have a few fairways that are struggling in patches with the fungal issue. But much better then last year. I wish it was perfect but it’s not enough to miss this track!!

Rams Hill has the best layout in the area, and that includes all the way to Palm Springs. In the past , course conditions were not ideal. They made a concerted effort to improve this, and it shows. Not quite at 100%, but greens are good and fairways are also, except for a few holes. It is always enjoyable, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out why more people don’t make the drive down to play. But every time we come to the desert, we always include Rams Hill in our course rotation.

I have played this course since the mid-1980's but this is the first time since the new ownership/ new layout. It is impressive! The course is in great shape and very challenging. I really enjoyed playing here

Rams Hill is one of our favourite courses down here. This year in spite of having put a lot of money into improvement they are having problems with some parts of the fairways. The layout is awesome. The views are impressive. The badlands on the way down to Borrego Springs are really something to be seen. We will definitely return.
