King and Bear Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
The King & Bear Course at World Golf Village is named for its designers, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. It is the first and only collaboration between the two legendary golfers. Combining the contrasting styles of the two designers created a challenging course that incorporates features from both traditional Scottish-links courses and new traditions in American golf. The course is known for the numerous lakes bordered by large coquina rock that come into play throughout. The front nine is dotted with loblolly pines while decades-old oak trees provide shade for the back nine. In addition to King & Bear, World Golf Village also offers another excellent 18-hole course, Slammer & Squire.

Golfer Reviews
I battled the bear!
I love this course. I paid only 8$ with my 75$ voucher how sweet is that? course is well maintained and in excellent shape. challenging for any level golfer because it has multiple tee boxes.
Pricy but worth it.
The course is designed by Arnold and jack so it is very amazing to play. Mostly challenging with some water but the layout does include some easier holes.
King & bear
Great course. fairways needed cut and bunkers needed work. A little pricey but worth the afternoon deal on "golf now" $89 after 1:00. Would not advise paying full price.
Great Condition!
I've played King-Bear many years ago and jumped at the golfnow rate. Fairways were great and greens were FAST and true. Reminds you of his good the WGV courses are....wish they were regularly cheaper.
Outstanding Course
Always a great experience. Challenging but fair. Immaculate condition. Greens fast but true. Designed to make you think, enjoyable for handicaps of all ranges. They've finally upgraded the menu variety and quality appropriate to a facility of this stature. Taking 3 friends to play in February, everyone's looking forward to a great experience.
Nice Course
I thought it would be more than it was...very nice staff!
Beautifully immaculate Resort course in high end subdivision setting.
11:24 tee time w/ buddy. $109/ea - $200 Golf now reward. Similar to Club @ Eaglebrooke, Julliette Falls GC, & Bella Collina CC. Fun & fair layout. Visually appealing course. Huge well stocked proshop. Great driving range & short game practice area. Tee boxes & fairways plush as carpet. Bunkers well sanded. Huge elevated greens rolling true & fast. Front nine wider open (Links) than back nine (tree lined}. Battery powered carts w/ windshield & rain cover in back. Great value w/ Golfnow reward.
What an experience!!
The King and the Bear lives up to the legends the course is named for. The staff made me fell like I was a celebrity. Range balls are included with your round on the well manicured range. The course was pristine and a definite challenge. The greens putt true and are lightning fast. The greens definitely added some strokes to my round as they are much faster than I am used to. I will definitely return.
Nice
We arrived early with plans to visit the hall of fame prior to round but it was not open until 10:00. The course received us well and we were set up at the range in a matter of minutes.
The course was in good shape and we really enjoyed the round.
A Must-Play Course!
I beautiful course that is very well maintained. Wonderful staff, nice pro shop. Played Slammer & Squire the day before but enjoyed King & Bear more... will definitely be back!
The course is nicklaus standard bunkers
Not up to expectations for a resort course. Thought we were getting a great deal at $70.00 early afternoon price, but have played better at half the cost. Staff and all were very friendly. Tees and fairways good but bunkers were not in best of shape. Greens slower than expected. Would recommend for a one time experience, but doubt I will play again
Excellent better than I expected for a resort location
Will play again. Feel of a private club. Staff excellent
Plays pretty long from the blacks no roll in lush fairways but they are great to hit from.
Name says it all
Great course in excellent shape from tee to green on every hole. Great layout, sure to present a challenge for all level of golfers. Weather was terrific, and paired with three others that help make the round even more enjoyable. Thanks GolfNow for this great deal.
First play
great course- will be back...played with the strangest players...like playing by yourself...cart path only due to rains...course over seeded and had not had first post cutting...I had over looked playing this course for 8yrs...will look for good deals on surcharged golfnow in future
save the money
Not worth the money! You would be better off going to one of the other local courses.
Nice Course Golfnow needs to provide better info
Course and staff were great. But got there and course was over seeded and my guest with a handicap flag could not even drive in rough. Made play very difficult and would not have gone had we known. Golfnow should provide that information at time of booking. Also, a junior tournament was happening which made pace of play 2:45 for 9 holes. Quit after 9 and took a rain check which they graciously allowed.
One of the best courses in the JAX Area
The only reason, i didn`t rate 5 Stars: Since the course was overseeded, we could not drive to our balls. And there is construction work along some fairways. The course condition is top, the Greens are fast, close to perfect.
Great layout
This is one of the course's that you have to play. I definitely recommend the surf
Board cart
Overvalued
Beautiful, albeit windy Fall day. Played as single, card/cart/tee box have no diagrams or yardage, although plenty of sprinklers with info in fairways. Generous fairways - more than you think from tee, just aim for/over poles in fairways - it helps if you can work ball both ways. Big greens - they had recently been punched/sanded, and were slow/bumpy. Water really doesn't come into play for good players, but may for shorter/crooked drivers. Due to recent heavy rainfall, fairways somewhat burnt/bare, got little roll with drives, ball picked up mud. Overall, a typical Fla course, but not worth the premium greens fee they charge. If you have choice, play Slammer & Squire - on WGV site, just as challenging, less $$.
King And Bear
Great golf course Very enjoyable. Was paired with a good golfer that had played the course below and that really helped. Course was in great shape. Very well manicured course and greens roll great. I would say this is a must if you are in the St. Augustine area.
