King and Bear Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
The King & Bear Course at World Golf Village is named for its designers, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. It is the first and only collaboration between the two legendary golfers. Combining the contrasting styles of the two designers created a challenging course that incorporates features from both traditional Scottish-links courses and new traditions in American golf. The course is known for the numerous lakes bordered by large coquina rock that come into play throughout. The front nine is dotted with loblolly pines while decades-old oak trees provide shade for the back nine. In addition to King & Bear, World Golf Village also offers another excellent 18-hole course, Slammer & Squire.

This course lives up to its name
Great day, great weather, greens were true, fairways in great shape, a little tighter than its sister course, loved the layout, would not hesitate to play it again. Staff, club house and overall facilities the best. Got a decent rate off list price from golf now what more could you ask for.
This course was well designed
The course was ok but the greens had just been sanded and no one said anything. Was some of the worse greens I have played in a long time. Would not play this course again.
Very Enjoyable
Came down from Augusta. Course condition was very good. Staff was very friendly. Apples on 1 and 10 were outstanding. Joined up with two very nice gents. Will try Squire and Slammer next visit, but wouldn't hesitate
to play King and Bear again.
Poor pace of play
For a premium course in great shape, one should expect a better pace. We were told pace was averaging 4 Hrs 10 Min. We walked off the 14th green at that mark. Don't know how long the round would have been due to having to leave after 16 to catch a flight. But it would have been about 5:20.
Luxury at it's best
Beautiful course designed and operated as "something special". It lived up to it's billing!
Facility & staff were equally impressive. We thank GolfNow rewards program for making it possible for us to play such a fine course!
Also enjoyed the Golf Hall of Fame very much.
K&B has a great layout .
Hi,
I truly enjoyed this course... a real treat because I got a great hot deal from GolfNow !!!
I probably would not have played if I had to pay full price. My only regret is that I wasn't in the area long enough to play the Slammer & Squire course.
Thanks,
Leftylouis
Questionable value for it's high price
The course is very nice but not close to 3X nicer than other courses in the area- not even close.
The range was free but busy and no one was collection golf balls (supply nearly depleted). We expected a high end golf course to have GPS in the carts and they did not. There are houses on many of the fairways and more being built (but houses are well out of play) but still this is a distraction not a plus for expensive golf. I live in the area and have played most courses. The K&B course has many pretty holes but so do many other courses at 1/3 the price and many include GPS. It was in good condition, and loved they supplied apples on ice but the apples don't make-up the difference in price.
Great Capoff to my vacation
Knocked off another course off my bucket list. The proshop has lots of goodies to offer.
Great Course
Played this course with two friends who came down from Ohio. The course was in excellent shape and the staff was second to none. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to play a challenging course in pristine conditions.
beautiful course. bad service
I've played here several times and this was the worst experience yet. I am going to chalk this up as a random bad experience here. They were solid packed On a perfect Florida day. I waited one and half hours for a golf cart, 20 minutes for a bartender/server to arrive and serve, the cart girl skipped our group a couple times, and was told by a Marshall we were behind the pace and needed to hurry while we were waiting on the green to clear. Overall this trip was absolutely crazy, especially with a triple digit green fee....the course itself was perfect as always. The human interaction ruined it.
better value elsewhere
played both slammer and squire and king and bear. much perfer s and s for value, course condition and staff assistance. we had to wait for range balls therefor almost eliminating our warm up time.
Great course, not so great experience
Course had no record of our Tee Time. Booked us 30 minutes later behind a FIVEsome and finished the last two holes in the dark.
I would play this again but will confirm tee times via phone and that we don't follow a handful of guys playing for a quarter a skin.
Great Design
Very good layout, nice use of the natural setting.
Nice but not Great
Nice course in good condition, especially greens. Most fairways lined with houses which was not very appealing. I showed up as a single about 30 minutes before my tee time and the starter insisted I go out immediately with a two-some who were already on the tee. Otherwise I would have to wait until 45 minutes past my tee time. So I didn't get to warm up. I thought the course was overpriced compared with similar courses in the area.
Great experience
We had several days of rain. It stopped when we got to the course. Had the course almost totally to ourselves.
The course is immaculate and would love to play it in dry conditions.
In wet conditions it played extremely long.
Great Day
Arrived an hour early. The range facilities are excellent and there is no additional charges for
the balls. The 3 of us played as part of the Golf
Now rewards program and could not have made
a better choice. Course is impeccable!!
Long course, great layout, greens top dressed and slow.
Good time. Was disappointed that the greens condition was not divulged, but other than that, this is the WGV course you want to play. Challenging, nice layout, good elevation changes.
Condition
Awesome golf course. We enjoyed the hospitality, conditions and speed of greens. Did not appreciate the amount of visits from the " player assistants" keeping up with our pace of play.
Fantastic alternative to TPC Sawgrass
If you're in the Jacksonville area but can't get on TPC, King & Bear is a fabulous (and far more affordable) alternative. While a championship-caliber design by Nicklaus & Palmer, it's certainly far more forgiving than the Stadium. The course makes nice use of waste areas and water hazards and is beautified with loads of fountain grass and rock walls along the water. I suppose if I had to nitpick on design, I found that if you missed a green you almost always ended up in a bunker, but maybe I just had bad luck that day. I'd prefer to see a few more run-off areas around greens, which seems to be the trend recently. Having said that, fairways are very forgiving and while the course is part of a residential community, homes are well off the playing corridors.
Conditions and facilities are about as good as it gets in the area, with a gorgeous clubhouse with a full dining room and bar.
first out of state course played
This was the first time ever golfing out of the state of Kansas. And boy did I get spoiled! The play of the course was great for a golfer with a long drive. I would love to go back. And when I do I'm gonna visit the world golf hall of fame and its sister course Slammer and Squire.
