King and Bear Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
The King & Bear Course at World Golf Village is named for its designers, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. It is the first and only collaboration between the two legendary golfers. Combining the contrasting styles of the two designers created a challenging course that incorporates features from both traditional Scottish-links courses and new traditions in American golf. The course is known for the numerous lakes bordered by large coquina rock that come into play throughout. The front nine is dotted with loblolly pines while decades-old oak trees provide shade for the back nine. In addition to King & Bear, World Golf Village also offers another excellent 18-hole course, Slammer & Squire.

Overall - just a great track to play
We played through Golf Now ... they had a "deal" for around $100 vs the $169 through the course. Yes, it is a good course BUT a lot better considering it's about a $100 course. The greens were in good shape after a tough winter, fairways good for that time of year and location. YES, I'd play it again ... and enjoyed the experience ...
Nice layout
Start time @ 3:30 twilight discount, free balls @ driving range but nobody came to tell us when it is our time to start, web site mentionned GPS on every cart, there were no GPS on any cart we would have appreciate at least a yardage book to help us for a first time on the course.
King & Bear is a very nice course but for the money spent we would have expected a bit more.
Good shape
First time in WGV, and it was very beautiful and challenging course. Love the layout and apple!
The King & Bear did a great job
Staff very professional courtious made you feel comfortable
World golf village is a great place for golf activities
more difficult than slammer & squire golf course . More challenging. Arnold palmer signature through high quality bunkers. Great course
A Challenging Course
Played Feb. 2013 and the conditions were superb for this time of year. Greens rolled true and the overall layout was very challenging. Nice assortment of holes. Cannot beat the service and the whole experience. Playing Arnie and Jack's combo is well-worth the visit. Also, clubhouse has nice amenities and staff was very attentive.
Beautiful facilities. Make time to visit the Golf Hall of Fame.
The course was in superb shape. It is beautiful, challenging, but fair. The facilities are magnificent from the practice areas to the restaurants. Make sure you visit the Golf Hall of Fame. It is a must do.
good value
I played this course on a very cold and windy day. It is a good test of your golf skills, especially during harse conditions. This course appears to get more play than the other, so the conditions are not quite to the same level. That said, it is still in very good shape for this time of year.
Great Course & Value
Played this course on a Friday and then again on a Monday. I made my tee time on GolfNow 30 minutes before showing up at the course, but despite my quick reservation, the staff had my reservation, was super friendly and went out of their way to make my experience wonderful!
excellent
was unable to get any discount golfnow due to time constraints ( catching flight that afternoon.) played 2 other courses in 3 days this was best . Slammer & squire (very close to this course as far as review ) also 1/2 price since had flexability as far as time. also amelia island which is nothing more then muny course plus very crowded and slow
GolfNow - Great Value
GolfNow got me great pricing for this course and even in early Feb the course was in excellent shape! GolfNow is an awesome tool for booking out of state tee times.
Resort Golf I understand price to high for residents lower it to 50 and you would have much more business
Great course nice fairways, greens are quick but fair
Beautiful, historic course
Amazing golf experience. Great deal for the chance to play on a challenging, pro designed course. Complimentary range balls, tees, towels, and apples. Very nice pro shop. Lots of large, deep bunkers, but overall an amazing golf experience. I would love to come back to play and see more of the property.
Challenging course with pristine fairways and excellent greens.
This course, which is part of the World Golf Village, is a must play. It is a couple miles from the resort but WGV offers shuttles to and from course. It is a bit more challenging than their sister course, Slammer & the Squire. Included in the greens fees is unlimited range balls, and a nice practice green for putting and chipping. The tee boxes are in mint condition and the greens were fairly quick. It is a course that is relatively open off the tee but can be punishing if you are on the wrong side of the hole. The one dissappointment that I can think of is the lack of GPS. I would recommend getting to the course early for a nice breakfast and then taking an hour or so to hit the range. If you are in the St. Augustine area and looking for a couple of rounds of golf, I would suggest playing the King and the Bear.
Challenging course in avg/good condition.
The course was nice but not worth $170/round. Just because you can command that price during the holidays doesn't make it affordable for most. The young lady at check-in acted like she didn't want to be there and didn't even make eye contact with me and my playing partners.
This is the way a golf course is supposed to be designed.
Booked via Golfnow @ $90; best deal available; at this price the course is a fair deal, Oustanding condition, fairways, greeens, tees, rough....all perfect. The landing areas are generous, and the course is very enjoyable to play. Excellent range. Arnie & Jack did an excellent job of designing a great course for all; just pick the tee that suits your game...you will love it. Would play again and again.....
Everything about this course is fantastic. It definately lives up to its name, and the apples on the 1st and 10th tees are definatley a plus.
Played this course with a couple of Army buddies that were visiting for the weekend. Very impressive layout. Long but fair. Good landing areas and a course that requires a little thinking and timely ball striking. Tee selection is key. Traps and hazards are there for taking. Water never seem to cause us any issues. If you hit into it, its not because of the layout.
very nice challenging course...would recommend
windy conditions due to storm Sandy..challenging well kept excellent and true greens..free range balls.. all in all I would recommend this course even though a bit pricey
Very good course and value (at$89).
Conditioning of course and facilties was excellent. Very helpful and friendly staff. Course facilities are very good (practice range/trap/green; restaurant/bar). Course has many good golf holes and is aesthetically pleasing, though is inside a home development (upscale), which does not appeal to some people. Average level of difficulty from mid tees; played with a novice player and it was enjoyable for them too (no forced carries or unusually difficult water hazard positioning). At the normal rate of 189, the course is overpriced, though thru GolfNow we got an 89 rate, which is an excellent value for a very good course/facility.
king and bear always great to play and in excellent condition
only negative thing was they were out of apples when teeing off on the back nine
