Crescent Pointe Golf Club
About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Better condition
Course conditions have improved greatly since last year.
A good course for the money
The course was well maintained and very playable. I enjoyed it and compared to other courses near it, a good bargain.
Improved
The course has shown much improvement since we played in 2023.
Fairways need some grass
This is not an easy course made even more difficult by lack of grass in the fairways. We had the first tee time and were making great time. When we made the turn, there was a 4-some in front of us. They were probably members. They did let us play through, but very uncool they were allowed to cut in front.
Friendly tees, tuff approaches
Play was slow once we caught up to players out front. No refreshments cart. No one tending the bar at our turn. Enjoyed the course though.
Great Course Layout, Poor Course Conditions
Crescent Pointe was recommended to me by a relative who played there about a month ago and found it in good shape. However, there were a number of holes when I played that were in need of repair, or had repairs underway. Cart paths, in particular, were rough! Several greens were molted (some being repaired), sand traps were packed near solid, and two fairways had substantial sinkholes on them. The layout is very nice, and course was tough for a duffer like me, but the conditions didn't help. I'd go back, but only at a good price.
Friendly staff but severely understaffed
Poor staffing choices impact overall day, when check in takes forever and should have been staffed by two staff members, to the staff worrying about having enough golf carts, to the bar restaurant being at least three people short all impacted course play. We would go back if they improve staffing shortages, a manager should have stepped up and assisted as they were very busy.
Affordable Course
I enjoyed the course very much and rebooked it for next week!
Enjoyable day
Exceeded expectations. A few greens under repair. For our level it was challenging but not overly callenging.
Great/friendly staff and really cool layout
My son (scratch) and I (7.1) played and loved the course layout. Lots of interesting holes and hazards. Both golf shop and restaurant/bar stall were really friendly - golf shop manager came to see us at the turn to see how we were enjoying the course. There are some slightly scruffy areas of the course and the cart paths are a little bumpy but for $57 including cart we weren’t expecting Augusta!. 4 groups waved us through and we finished in under 3 hours.
Fantastic Value for the Money
Paid $57 for a hot deal on a Saturday morning, which considering it was perfect weather is unbelievable. Fun course to play, conditions were above average. Loved the layout of the course and the strategy of some of the holes. Only complaint was some of the pin positions were a little silly. Would 10/10 recommend this place since most of the other courses I saw were $100+.
Good Layout/Gone Downhill
Once upon a time this was a very good layout. Over time the course has deteriorated. The cart paths are bad, the fairways are OK but the areas off the fairways are weedy and there is considerable erosion. It is a target golf course and the price to play reflects its in need of a major facelift.
Great course with lots of elevation changes for a near coastal location
lots of elevation changes for course with some tidal wetlands included. Arnold has done a great job sculpting this layout for a visually interesting course. Some forced carry holes with wetlands in the way.
A course we always include in trips to Hilton Head area.
Great Layout, Mediocre Condition
Having been told by a relative that I should really see about playing this Arnold Palmer designed course while in HHI area, I made it a point to do so. Getting the "Hot Deal" to play/ride for about $55 made it all the more attractive. While the layout was great, and most holes were in reasonably good shape, a number of the fairways has substantial ground under repair, and several greens were being patched up, too. Traps were largely wet-pack sand, not the customary fluffy white sand seen elsewhere locally. Service at the grill was very slow, and we had to let two other foursomes play through before getting our hot dogs and chips served.
always enjoy this course
Arnold did a great job laying out this course plenty of challenges offered.
