Swiss Fairways Golf Course

About
Located just west of downtown Orlando in Clermont, Swiss Fairways Golf Course utilizes the wide open and hilly terrain that is typical for that area, but uncommon throughout the rest of the state. Large greens welcome low handicappers while strategic bunkering is incorporated into the layout to add some challenge. There are over a hundred sand traps in total and 10 water hazards come into play. Swiss Fairways Golf Course has a relaxed, casual atmosphere that is far from the typical country club environment. Although it is relatively unknown, the Swiss Fairways Golf Course will most likely grow in popularity due to its affordable rates and interesting layout.

Golf now made a reservation at a course that was closed
Don’t waste your time
Listen, I’ve played this course before and it wasn’t great to begin with. I booked a tee time about a week ago to go out and try and get in a quick 9 with my friend. I’m just getting back into golf and my friend is kind of just starting out so I figured why not go somewhere that I’ve already deemed “not great” from playing previous rounds. It already wasn’t in great condition when I played a year ago but it’s cheap so we figured what the heck? We show up 30 minutes before our tee time to try and hit a few at the range beforehand. The pro shop is locked up and then owner/pro/greenskeeper/whatever else rolls up and tells us they’re closed for renovations and won’t be open for another month.
I understand that it’s mostly GolfNow’s fault for allowing the reservation to go through, but the staff we talked to at the course just kind of shrugged it off and basically made it seem like it wasn’t his problem.
Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time, money, or energy on this place.
Course was Closed - Rude Staff
Course was closed for renovations even though we had a confirmed tee time & payment through GolfNow. “Owner” was extremely rude and blamed us for showing up, then blamed GolfNow and told us to work it out with them. Do not recommend.
Bad
After years of playing this course it has been on a constant decline. The course conditions are so bad we left early. Not a single green is all grass majority roots and dirt. SAVE YOUR MONEY.
What Greens?!?
Crab grass is cut short by the flag but it's so bumpy and most holes have no grass on the green so it's like putting on pavement and then playing plinko while you putt. When the ball hits that crabgrass root it goes left, right... You just watch your ball hop all over the place trying to get to the hole. The fairway is slightly less rough than the rough. They have 9 holes you play twice for 18.
Round was fun…Staff interaction not so much.
Had fun playing the course but after my round, the owner decided to make it clear that he doesn't value the business of people that book their tee times through Golf Now. He was very confrontational about my tee time and pairing. Mind you, there were maybe 4 people on the golf course. I tend to not write reviews, especially negative ones because I recognize that everyone can have a rough day but this was something different. I've been playing golf for many years and never had a negative experience with golf staff or other players but the owner here decided to be inappropriately aggressive towards any complaints. I recognize the course is inexpensive and I'm playing on a budget but to be told my business doesn't matter and that I'm too "poor" to pay regular rates so I shouldn't be welcome is just completely unkind. The course conditions are not good but I could care less about that. It's a fun layout and a cool spot to get in some practice but I won't be returning after the lack of not only Guest service but more so the lack of common person to person courtesy.
Course was fun. Experience not so much.

Did jot get to play
Pro shop was closed at my T time. Did not get to play
Good place to practice
It only cost me $17 to play so no complaints. The people in the golf shop are super friendly and it has a down home vibe. It’s a bummer that they sold the back 9 because it was the better of the 2 nines. The course needs a lot of work but they need to mow the fairways on a regular basis. The layout is solid and if someone came in to invest some money then it could be a very solid course.
