Tributary at River Strand Golf and Country Club
About
Arthur Hills designed the 27 holes at River Strand Golf & Country Club in Bradenton. The holes are intertwined with a series of waterways, incorporating water on almost every hole. It is by far the most predominant feature of the landscape and inspired the names for the nines that the holes are divided into: the Estuary, Tributary, and Sanctuary. The golf courses all provide a different set of challenges, despite sharing the same aquatic landscape. Whether you play one or all of them, no matter what skill level you will find a favorite. The Tributary Course is the shortest and most player friendly, but there are still some challenges in store. Located between Tampa and Sarasota, River Strand makes a nice getaway but it is also popular with locals.

Resort style golf experience from a semi-private course.
River Strand is one of the better conditioned courses in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. Generous fairways, greens that actually hold a shot (plus 10.6 on the stimpmeter), and played right at 4 hours on the Sunday before Christmas made the experience truly wonderful. I couldn't get the slider to work properly, so the ratings are not really reflective of the course and it's conditions. The range and practice area are much better than the average course, too.
Great day
Your slider doesn't work well for me. I wanted somthing right of center but all i could get is full right
Very fun
I don't think there was a hole without water!! This is a great course. Very challenging but fair. We had a great time and will be back.
Course has great playability while being tough.
The course is in fantastic shape. Greens running 10.8 with no flaws.
Challenging course, great value
This course has a number of features which make it a great challenge. The greens are smallish, undulating and well protected. In most instances they are either elevated, bunkered or nested. The bunkers are mid depth with the leading edge steep and high. Where the holes are shorter (350-390 par 4's) they tend to be sharp doglegs that require layup placements. Very few holes are gimmes, making this a nice well rounded challenge.
Go before noon
Lovely course in great condition.
$35 with cart thru Golf Now was great value for money.
Semi private so waited 10 extra minutes due to crowds to t-off at 13:44.
Also, try to go no later than noon in November because shadows play a big part after 16:00.
Fairways very forgiving, Greens well protected - its the approach shot that gets you par. Greens are large, fast and undulating
Top public course in the area
Played sanctuary/estuary. Greens were in private course condition. Posted sign read greens running 10.6. Fairways are generous and forgiving. Back tees were not open which makes the course play much easier. I find legacy to be a more challenging course but the trade off are the Velcro greens.
Well maintained and a pleasure to play
Really enjoyed playing Strand. Course was in exceptional condition and is well laid out. Greens were perfect.
Nice well maintained course
A nice course that was enjoyable to play. Well maintained and interesting lay out. from the blue tees it is fun to play. The black tees would be much more challenging.
Good course design
The course had heavy rain for a couple days and on the day we played. It was CPO, so it's hard to give a true review. I liked the layout and the course was in good shape. Even with two rain delays we were able to play in a decent amount of time.
The food in the restaurant was very good and the staff was friendly.
Course was very challenging on a breezy day. Not a grip-it and rip-it kind of course. You must think through each shot and place it carefully.
We enjoyed the course and would play it again. I hadn't played this course in a way and forgot the layout. Looking forward to playing it again when I know it a little better. Hit a great second shot on a par 5 and realized too late that there was water there. There is no course map on the score card. Good course though, well maintained.
Beautiful, well maintained course.
There are no GPS' on the carts, and there is some construction going on adjacent to many of the holes.
We really enjoyed this course
Everything at River Strand was good, from the friendly staff, the practise lake to the course itself. Excellent condition, wide fairways, challenging holes and well manicured greens.
Fantastic!
Great course. Fair, but super challenging from every set of tees. Big landing areas, but if you miss them, the party is over. Several strategically placed, well-maintained bunkers and large undulating greens.
Really quite nice.
The three 9's let them work on one while the other two are played. Even when they sand and aerate, play is unaffected.
Pretty challenging from the tips. Sweeping dogs beg for you to cut the corner to get a makeable second shot. Sand or water if you don't execute.
Very wirey grass on the greens. Fast down-grain, slow going against. And scarey going across.
Overall, one of the best I've played in the area, especially considering the price.
Me and my Saturday threesome play a lot of different courses and this one ranks at the top of the list as "the place" to play
Me and my Saturday threesome play a lot of different courses and this one ranks at the top of the list as "the place" to play, the course is kept in great shape, even the off course areas around the tees and hazard areas. Plenty of cart service and a top notch friendly staff that makes you feel like you are a true guest in their home, don't find that much anymore. The course is difficult if you are off but fair. really enjoy the variety of three different Nines to play although Tributary is my least favorite but could play sanctuary and estuary every week. You cant go wrong in choosing River Strand as the place to play.
Good track nice conditions
Ive played river strand a half dozen times. Always good conditions. They have 27 holes and use the extra nine to their advantage when scheduling maintenance They will take nine holes down for a couple weeks at a time and let the course recover before putting it back in the rota. Sanctuary is my favorite nine Estuary is most difficult and longer than the other two by a few hundred yards or more. Great staff very friendly. Good deals in the off season played in september for $25.
Outstanding course to play!
Have played this course many times and always impressed with the layout and playability. Extremely well maintained. The greens are near perfect and the fairways look like greens. Play from the correct tees for your handicap and you'll have an enjoyable round. Very friendly staff. My favorite course to play!
User Friendly
Despite not being the most difficult course in the area, it is a lot of fun to play. It has excellent greens and is very well maintained in all areas. Most of the course is wide open making scoring well a definite possibility.
Great golf course!!!
River strand is a wonderful 27 hole layout. During the summer and fall months, they always close one 9 to aerify. That insures the course is always in great shape when we play there. Very challenging. I play from the tips and the estuary 9 will give you all you can handle. Add in the clubhouse has great sandwiches and it makes for a nice day.
