Tributary at River Strand Golf and Country Club

About
Arthur Hills designed the 27 holes at River Strand Golf & Country Club in Bradenton. The holes are intertwined with a series of waterways, incorporating water on almost every hole. It is by far the most predominant feature of the landscape and inspired the names for the nines that the holes are divided into: the Estuary, Tributary, and Sanctuary. The golf courses all provide a different set of challenges, despite sharing the same aquatic landscape. Whether you play one or all of them, no matter what skill level you will find a favorite. The Tributary Course is the shortest and most player friendly, but there are still some challenges in store. Located between Tampa and Sarasota, River Strand makes a nice getaway but it is also popular with locals.

Very friendly and welcoming course
The course consisted of three nines. Only the Estuary and Tributary were open. Estuary was in great condition, good greens of medium pace and as a 10 handicapper I found it quite challenging from the White tees. Not so the Tributary. The greens are still healing from piercing and most of the greens were ringed with sods of turf which were starting to dry out and so you had to take a lift and drop if your ball landed on them. It was too short for me off the whites so suggest you move back a tee. I'm sure in another couple of weeks this nine will rise to the standard of Estuary. Did I enjoy my day out? Well the sun shone and I played well, so you bet I did!
Great golf course at a great price
I had heard for a while that River Stand was an exceptional golf course but hadn't had the opportunity to play it. Through Golf Now is was able to book a tee time and was very impressed with everything about the place. The staff was great, the course was in beautiful condition and the layout was fantastic. I can't wait to go back!
excellent course
Very nice course, kept in very nice shape. A private course where you are made to feel comfortable by a friendly, helpful staff. A bunch or holes that invite you to cut a corner, or go for it or else. We had a great time. A very reasonable price too.
It takes every club in your bag to play this course and I loved it.
Played it before and I'll play it again. The course is always in terrific condition. The staff can not do enough for you.
Wet but OK
The course was in good shape save for the downpour it received the day before, and the day before and the day before and while we were out playing. Greens ran very well but the staff has no control over the weather. Staff very friendly and even met one of the members while waiting for the rain to stop and we had a very nice chat
First-class course at great rate.
Well-maintained track that will challenge all levels of players. Water on just about every hole. Undulating greens. Closely mowed fairways. Tough rough. Well worth the green fees, which are very reasonable. Only drawback is the range, which are platforms floating in a lake. Other than that, superior golf exprience.
River Strand
Course is in great shape after all the rain. The weekend was dry and the greens were speeding up.
Played Santucary & Tributary. Couse held up well with all the rain.
Played this course for the first time. Will definitely be back. It rained on us quite a bit, but the course held up..The greens did not puddle up. :) ... Since we get a lot of rain down here, they may consider putting additional coverings on the cart or provide rain shelters. Course was challenging but not overwhelming for this SR.Fairways were wide enough and greens were true and speed was within my skills. Looking forward to coming back.
Treated like a member
3 nines, played Sanctuary/Tributary. Both in great condition. Sanctuary looks like newest of the nines with new development under construction nearby but that did not hinder our experience. We were treated like members by a very buttoned-up staff from the moment we were met at the bag drop. Starter was on the ball, got us out in a spot where we did not have to wait for a shot. Design was great and required a lot of different shot shapes. Very female friendly design, ladies tees were generous. Told my wife that this was the kind of club I could be a member of. Just made another starting time there for this week.
Overall course was very nice - there were spotty greens issues that keep me from rating it pristine
Great track that we play Sanctuary and Tributary. The back tees were not available for play on the Sanctuary which was a bit dissapointing. Correct the issues with some of the greens and this will for sure be a must play!!
We love this place!!!
We come back to Riverstrand EVERY year on vacation. Great course, excellent layout, always in great condition.
Excellent condition
This course you must think about what shot you are going to hit or you will pay the price.Driver is not always the option. I love the course setup.
Best Public course in Sarasota/Bradenton
River Strand is always very well maintained and when aerating their greens they close that nine and use the other 18 holes. You never have to call ahead to see if the greens are punched. Awesome course and very fun to play.
Great course!
3 9s that play totally different. you will enjoy this course. Great people.
A bit disappointed.
We played on Sunday and the first 9 holes (Tributary) were terrific. The course was in great shape. However, when we got to our second nine (Sanctuary) we were all very disappointed on the aerified greens. They certainly were not up to even "good" playing conditions. They needed about another week, a few more cuts an definately needed to be rolled again. The putting was near impossible due to all the imperfections in the greens in the state they were in. Had we known that these were the conditions which we would have been playing on we would have NEVER payed the greens fees we did. Very, very, very disappointing.
Very nice course
Staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous. The course is well maintained and very nice layout.
the course was challenging
the course was maintained except for grass around greens very patchy or no grass at all.
Great Value
We took a group of 8 guys on our buddies trip to 4 local courses. This one stood out above the rest. Pace of play was excellent, the course was in great condition, which was impressive given the amount of rain we had the day before. The outside tiki bar was a riot after our round. I hope to return to play all 27 in a few weeks. We played sanctuary and tributary, long but fair. You can score if you keep the ball in the fairway, water hazards on multiple holes.
Wet but pretty nice
It has rained a lot the last few days so it was expected that the course would be soaked. But I was told that it was a 90 degree rule when I booked the round and found out it was cart path only when we got there. I had high expectations from things that I had heard from others about the course, and they were mostly correct. There were some dead spots throughout the course that could be cleaned up but not too bad. Tight approaches on most holes, greens in pretty good shape. I look forward to playing again when the rain isn't around.
Great value.
Scenic, challenging, excellent greens. Would play again.
Dang spelled Course incorrectly... Course is still great..
