Park Ridge Golf Course
About
Park Ridge Golf Course transformed what was formerly the site of the Lantana Landfill into a popular municipal course. Construction began on this unique undertaking in 2004 and the end result was certified by Audubon International as a Cooperative Sanctuary. The course climbs up to 85 feet, making it one of the highest golf courses in the county. It has a links-style layout that rolls across a variety of elevation changes, offering plenty of stunning views along the way. Such a contoured and hilly course is a rare occurrence in Florida. The golf course provides a challenge with some very tricky par 3s, several blind shots due to the rolling terrain, and strategically placed traps throughout but there are no water hazards except for one lateral hazard. There is also thick rough framing many of the holes.

Florida's highest elevation
Built on top of an old garbage dump, Park Ridge is one of the most unique public courses you will find in South Florida. There are several holes with lots of elevation - it is one of the few locations in South Florida above sea level.
On this particular day, we were warned that the pace of play could be slow, but in reality it was the best pace I've seen all peak season.
Park Ridge is one of the best values you can find during peak season. My one criticism would be that tee boxed could be in better shape.
Very Interesting course
One of the most interesting courses I have ever played. Each hole was very unique with many challenges. Greens were in great shape, and fairways were clean, I got stuck with all no shows in my foursome and because I didn't want to go out alone, Phil the manager worked out a deal where i could start out on the back nine alone, and then after my second hole, he brought someone to play with me, and then after we finished the back nine, Phil had 2 more players to join us, and we git to play the front nine almost immediately. It worked out great, PLUS, Phil comped my game. You can't beat that! REALLY great people working there. Can't wait to play again!
So glad to hear we could help make your day special, Larry. We can't wait to see you again for your next round. Thanks for sharing your story publicly, we really appreciate it.
Nice
Excellent course with multiple elevations, so challenging but still fun.
Built on an old landfill, Park Ridge truly does offer an out of Florida experience when it comes to elevation changes. Thank you very much for the review!
Friday at Park Ridge
Noon tee time on a Friday took almost 5 hours to play. Course conditions better than at many courses in the area. Staff very friendly.
We're glad to hear that you found the course in such great shape but are saddened to hear it took you so long to get around. We will look into the day you played and will review your comment with our staff. Thanks again for coming out!
Forgiving fairways and unusual elevation changes
Elevation changes like these are rare in this area. The course is less challenging than Osprey Point but well worth playing.
The elevation changes are what help make Park Ridge so special. We appreciate you coming out and we also appreciate you supporting the other Palm Beach County golf courses, like Osprey Point.
snow bird having fun
The course is fun to play, but difficult if you are not familiar with it.
We appreciate you checking us out! The golf course definitely becomes a bit easier during your second round with us when you better know where to miss it. That just means another round is in your future.
A unique golf course that is really fun to play!!
I have played this course several times and it has never been in such great shape.
Great conditions from tee to green.
We also played in 4 hours being a foursome which on Sunday is great.
Truly enjoyable and very unique.
Thank you so much for taking the trip up from Pompano! The golf course really is in amazing shape and we appreciate you helping to spread the word. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Park Ridge is a great golf course!
I have played Park Ridge several times recently and I really enjoy it every time. It is very challenging but very fair with a great layout that is completely different from any other golf course in the region. The course is much drier since they did a renovation on their drainage system last year. They have recently cut back much of the thick vegetation along side the fairways which makes finding miss hit shots easier. If I have any complaints it would be the Course was extremely slow that day and no ranger was there but it was extremely windy which likely caused the slow pace.
We can't tell you how much we appreciate the continued support and we are thrilled to hear that you have noticed the improvements we have been making to the golf course. The golf course is in amazing shape and is awaiting your next round.
As a last resort
4 of us played and had trouble right from the start with the guys who take your bags for the cart. The people I was playing with arrived before us and they were rude to themas well. The front nine lacks any imagination and is just back and forth golf with the other fairway hitting into you and vise versa. The 8th hole is a disaster. We had 16 people on the hole or waiting to play it. It took about 40 minutes to play that one hole. The woman who was supposed to be moving things along did nothing to help.
The back nine was much better. The layout was interesting and was fun to play.. They need to train their help not to be rude as we had trouble with another helper outback. The back nine is the only reason I would consider this course again.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience. Being greeted by friendly staff at the bag drop is of the utmost importance and this is our goal with each guest. We are sorry our staff did not meet your expectations in this regard and it has been addressed with not only the staff you encountered but with all staff. We hope to see you again soon.
Good Experience
First time playing this course in two years. Drainage has been added, but still would not play it in wet weather based on past history.
Management has tamed the tiger. The Bush is getting trimmed back, hills have been planted with grass instead of the wild growth of yesterday. I am sure that this facilitated smoother play and less ball hawking. The greens were very fast, but true, fairways were well trimmed and the sand well stocked.
All in all a great experience. Being surrounded by hills is a unique experience in South Florida. Do not miss this course.
First and foremost, welcome back. We're glad to hear that our hard work on the course conditions was noticed - our super has done a fantastic job. The only thing that we ask is that you don't wait another two years to come back!
Can’t go wrong with this course
I play here often and never once have I wished I played elsewhere. Wide open fairways where you feel comfortable getting after it a little more Jan usual. Great staff and cart service. Course is always in great condition with fantastic greens.
And we've never wished that you played elsewhere either! Thank you for the continued support, Chris!
Park Ridge is a great golf course
I have played this course several times in the last few weeks. It is just a great layout with terrain and elevation unlike any other course in the area. There are several holes with picturesque views you would not expect in south Florida. The driving range is excellent with thick grass similar to the fairways. Being a county run course they do a great job with course maintenance. The staff is friendly and professional. I highly recommend playing this golf course.
Thank you so much for the five-star review! Be sure to check out the other golf courses owned and operated by the Palm Beach County Parks & Rec department at PBCGolf.com.
We prefer to use "landfill" rather than "garbage dump" but we're thrilled to hear you enjoyed yourself so much. Come back and see us again soon!
