Park Ridge Golf Course
About
Park Ridge Golf Course transformed what was formerly the site of the Lantana Landfill into a popular municipal course. Construction began on this unique undertaking in 2004 and the end result was certified by Audubon International as a Cooperative Sanctuary. The course climbs up to 85 feet, making it one of the highest golf courses in the county. It has a links-style layout that rolls across a variety of elevation changes, offering plenty of stunning views along the way. Such a contoured and hilly course is a rare occurrence in Florida. The golf course provides a challenge with some very tricky par 3s, several blind shots due to the rolling terrain, and strategically placed traps throughout but there are no water hazards except for one lateral hazard. There is also thick rough framing many of the holes.

This course is unique and fun to play
This course is a real gem and I have had the opportunity to play the course many times and it never disappoints. The unique this about this course is of course the spectacular elevations it has to offer and with links like layout it always gives me a memorable challenge. The other unique thing about this course is that is a muni course that is always well maintained and the management and staff run it like true professionals even with all the unusual amount of rain we have been having the course is in great thanks to the staff decision to make it cart path only making it challenging but preserving the course is the right decision. Like any muni course the lack of funding I can imagine can be difficult to make it pristine but I would highly recommend it for a player of any level you have fun and it wont take a big bite out of your wallet.
Hilly course from reclaimed landfill by Palm Beach County.
I purchased a HotDeal for a great price- late in the afternoon. Hoped to get in at least 15 holes. I arrived early and checked in, to a courteous pro shop, and was greeted warmly. My reservation was waiting and I purchased a small bucket to warm up while waiting for my tee time. The starter was friendly and I told him if he had an opening earlier I would happily accept that as I headed to the range. The wind was blowing at @16mph and I thought this was going to be a nightmare round- unfamiliar, hilly, hidden risks? Cold and windy on the nice driving range. The started kept his word and sent a cart guy to fetch myself and a younger gentleman, Mike, I had struck up a conversation with on the range and would now have as a guide to this hilly course. We were also paired with an older couple playing 9 holes. The course was in nice shape, cart path only 1 - 4 and 17. Rangers were present and extremely polite and helpful. Very hilly for Florida (nice elevation changes), and interesting layout that was fair. We finished all 18 holes. After a bad start at another PBC course, this course is a blessing- the county should run all courses like this and John Prince. Vey happy and impressed.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your round of golf and that our golf met your expectations in regards to customer service. We hope to see you again soon.
Good day to golf...but slow.
Course was in good condition. Some greens were rough. Fairways were good. Pace of play was "wait on every hole" and we were told to speed up play on one hole when the ranger came by and saw us approaching hole number 6. We looked at him and asked if he was out of his mind??? If you want to speed up pace of play, go to the group ahead of everyone that is waiting and tell them to speed up play, not one of the groups waiting behind them on every hole to tee off. We liked this course a lot but they need to understand that when you have a sign in the carts that says "cart path only today holes 1-18" that older slower people will hold up the rest of us that can get out to our ball more quickly than they can.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge Golf Course. Our rangers are trained to check a group's actual time on the course as well as what the situation is ahead of them, before speaking with our golfers about their pace of play. It sounds as if this did not happen on the day that you played with us and we thank you for bringing it to our attention. We will review our policy with the rangers that were on duty during your round to ensure proper procedures are being followed.
Park ridge on a wet day
We were the first group out. Front nine was wet but playable. Temps cold at 50 degrees. Back nine was closed so we played front again. The group in front of us for the second nine was very slow and we waited every hole. Rangers were out but did not speed play. Course was cart path only. Front nine in just under 2 hrs, the second nine in 2:45. Greens were true and quick for a wet day.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge Golf Course. The day that you played our facility was a very strange day for sure. Due to the high amount of rain from the previous day, which had closed most of the courses around us, our back nine was unplayable in the morning, so we opened the front nine only. We felt the play would be light and we could turn people back to #1, easily blending them back in with golfers that may come out later in the morning. However, with the closure of the courses closest to our facility, we had an influx of golfers during the morning as they heard our facility was indeed open. This increase in golfers created a problem for some of our earlier groups that were attempting to finish their round and for that, we apologize. Our manager, Phil Henry, would love to learn more about your experience so that we can remedy the problem going forward. Please contact him (561) 629-8755 or via email at phreny@pbcgov.org at your earliest convenience.
Fine course
This is a Palm Beach County Course that is friendly, well laid out to be a fine challenge and offers a number of practice options. There are a variety of tees for all age golfer. Greens are fast. There are hazards along many holes that will get you. Bring a few extra balls to be safe. The course recommends a playing time of 4:15. When we played in the afternoon, we were exactly on time.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are happy to hear that you found our staff to be friendly and the course to be a challenge. We are also pleased to find out that our pace of play education process worked so well and that you were able to have an enjoyable round. We hope you will come visit us again soon.
Wet and smelly
This is a unique layout for Florida and worth playing, but conditions were quite wet, and when this course is wet, it smells.
Also, we were moving along okay, and then came to the 8th hole to find 2 groups on the tee. A ranger was there and indicated this was normal...that doesn't make it acceptable and they need to do something about that.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are glad you enjoyed the layout and appreciate the fact that you are so willing to recommend our course to others.
We are aware that number 8 can be a bottleneck at times, but is also a signature hole for the course and one of the reasons why many people love this course. To help alleviate the slow down on the course at this hole, we have posted instructions on how to play the hole at the tee box and erected a target at the green that can be seen from the fairway. We will continue to study ways in which to increase the pace of play on the hole to better serve our golfers.
Again, thank you for your review and we look forward to seeing you at the course again soon.
Drainage was terrible
We played 2 days after rain, but the course was very soggy. Cart path only rules which impacted pace of play. They shouldn't charge you for 18 holes when there is no way you can finish before it gets dark when the course is so slow!
Thank you for providing us a review with your recent round at Park Ridge. As the course is built on an old landfill and has a plastic liner under the top layer of soil, there are certainly some challenges present after it rains, especially this time of the year when the days are shorter and we receive less sun to help dry the course out. However, we are constantly adding drainage to help with this problem.
We are sorry to hear you had trouble finishing your round. Our goal is a 4 hours and 15 minutes pace of play and due to cart path only rules on the day that you played, we were about 15 minutes behind that pace. We are always happy to offer a rain-check for uncompleted holes in an abnormal situation like this.
Interesting Layout for Palm Beach
Notbad course, some difficult holes, just stays wet days after a rain...had many plugged balls on fairway and greens, which made it play harder and longer than it actually is...(played from Blues)
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. Mother Nature has definitely thrown us a curve this year with the wet weather during both December and January, which has made the course wetter than normal for this time of year.
As the course is built on an old landfill and has a plastic liner under the top layer of soil, which slows efforts to dry the course, we are constantly adding drainage on the course to speed the process of removing rain water from the facility.
Interesting course, glad I had a "regular" with us.
Several blind shots so I am glad I was matched with someone that played the course before. You really need to know where to aim for and when to lay up. I enjoyed the course, the elevation changes and the scenery. Would play again and recommend it to friends.
Thank you for reviewing Park Ridge. Our course is certainly unique with its elevation changes and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed it so much. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Too many blind shots with no information
No grass to hit of off. Wet and can't get through the rough. Did not think that Florida courses should be in such poor shape.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your round with us. Our manager, Phil Henry, would like to speak with you to learn more about your experience. When you have the opportunity, please reach out to him at (561) 629-8755 or via email at phenry@pbcgov.org.
The course is unique with elevations unseen in south Florida.
Great course! We really enjoyed the scenery. Some of the holes are difficult to see. Pace of play was very good (compared to other courses we play at). The golf course marshals do a great job of keeping everything moving.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are happy to hear your enjoyed our scenic course and that you found the pace of play to be very good. We hope to see you again soon.
No In Between
I've been playing golf since I was 16 years old (I'm now 63) and in all my years I don't think I've ever played a course with a "goofier" layout. A myriad of blind shots, never quite knowing what club to select or what lied ahead. To complicate matters, many of the tee boxes hadn't been mowed for quite sometime; pace of play, just horrible....waited on every shot from first tee to final approach on the 18th. There is no in between here. You will either love this course or hate it. I hated it but my wife loved it and shot her best round ever........go figure!
Thank yo for your review of Park Ridge. We are sorry to hear that you did not fully enjoy your round in the same way that your wife did. There is no question that our course includes some blind shots, which is one of the reasons our loyal guests find the course so interesting to play. In regards to tee boxes, we strive to mow the tee boxes every other day and our records indicate that they were mowed on December 26, the day before you visited us.We will check to ensure that our staff is following the necessary protocols in course maintenance so that the facility is being properly maintained.
As you probably know, pace of play is an issue that affects golf courses nationwide and is one that we continually keep watch on. Our goal is to keep a four hours and 15 minutes pace for 18 holes. We will review your comments with our rangers to make sure they are encouraging this pace among our golfers.
Need a map
I think I would like this course after I've played it 2 or 3 times.
First time out is impossible. Many blind shots and no help as to the direction of the hole.
Thank you for playing at Park Ridge and for leaving this review. We know the course can be a challenge for those playing for the first time, or the 100th time, due to the elevation changes of the course. To help alleviate this difficulty, each granite monument by the tee boxes includes a detailed map of the hole while the scorecard also includes a map. Additionally, course guides are available in the golf shop. We thank you again for playing at Park Ridge and hope you will come back for that second, third and maybe more trip in the near future.
Price and course
Golf now price was very good and course was in very good shape . All in all, it was a very enjoyable round

If you want an experience like nothing else in Florida, play Park Ridge
I've been playing Park Ridge for several years now, and I have introduced so many playing partners to this course, who've played it for the first time, and they all leave there saying, "Wow, this course was so much fun, like nothing you can play anywhere else in Florida, and I will definitely be back." This course is a blast. It is literally a dump, that was converted into a great track! It's got lots of elevation changes, hitting down to greens from hilltops, hitting up to greens on hilltops, challenging with just enough water, sand and hazards, but not too ridiculous. The grass on the fairways is nice and the greens, the last two times I played there, were in excellent condition and very challenging to read. If you want a great course, with a lot of value and a lot of fun, play Park Ridge. You won't be disappointed.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are happy to hear that you enjoy the course so much and that you continue to introduce friends to our "out of Florida" experience. We strive to provide the best possible golfing conditions at all times and are happy to hear that you find the course to be in good condition.
We know you have a lot of options on where to golf in Palm Beach County and are pleased to know you find us a great value for your golfing dollar. We look forward to seeing you at the course again soon.
Starter
Starter was ok at first with his jokes and address; however, after telling we were next on tee, he decided to let a foursome go before us. His explanation that Joe Case booked with us was late and we had to wait. According to him Joe Case was the original course designer? When my wife asked him about the delay he responded rudely saying "you have to wait, so wait." Quite honestly we felt he was treating us like dummies and should have told us the truth that he was waiting to see if he could join another twosome with us. The starter changed from welcoming and joking to being very unpleasant. To top it off the fursome he let go before us was exceptionally SLOW and I'm not saying because we were only two. They were slow sometimes hiting more than one ball, looking for lost balls and forgetting clubs on holes which we picked up and gave to them.
Thank you for the review. We always appreciate hearing about the experience of our golfers when they visit our courses. Feedback is always welcome and helps us to identify areas that we need to improve upon.
We have discussed your comments with our staff and used your feedback to re-enforce with them our customer service expectations.
Hi jdmancan, I would just like to inform you that the starter was wrong about the course architect. The designer is Roy Case, who has designed all the PBC courses. I also understand the rude starters, as it happens to me at Okeeheelee GC as well. Thank you for reading, have a great day.

Palm Beach Gem
Great experience playing here! Conditions were excellent and the pace was great. Got teamed up with some nice guys and we couldn't believe we were playing golf in S FL. The elevation changes and layout were a pleasant surprise. I will return again for sure! Great value.

We are also happy to hear that you found the course to be in such great condition. We know you have a lot of options on where to golf in South Florida and are happy to hear you plan on visiting us again soon. We look forward to your return to Park Ridge.
Not a flat lie
It's a fun course with many elevation changes and good greens

Fun time
The elevation changes are awesome. Many holes you cannot see the green at all due to elevation changes. I like to play Park Ridge.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are happy to hear that you enjoy the course so much and enjoy the different perspective that our elevation changes provide. We look forward to seeing you at Park Ridge again soon.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are happy to hear that you enjoy our facility so much. We have certainly had our fair share of rain this year, with January being the wettest January in recorded history, and have tried to work through the problems that can arise from this amount of water on the course. While cart-path only isn't the ideal situation to play under, we are happy to know our golfers are so understanding as we try to maintain the course during these wet times.
