Park Ridge Golf Course
About
Park Ridge Golf Course transformed what was formerly the site of the Lantana Landfill into a popular municipal course. Construction began on this unique undertaking in 2004 and the end result was certified by Audubon International as a Cooperative Sanctuary. The course climbs up to 85 feet, making it one of the highest golf courses in the county. It has a links-style layout that rolls across a variety of elevation changes, offering plenty of stunning views along the way. Such a contoured and hilly course is a rare occurrence in Florida. The golf course provides a challenge with some very tricky par 3s, several blind shots due to the rolling terrain, and strategically placed traps throughout but there are no water hazards except for one lateral hazard. There is also thick rough framing many of the holes.

The Dump
Always a pleasent change from the normal Florida courses. Affectionaly called "The Dump" is in good shape. The greens were a little slow but consistent. Friendly and helpful staff.
Interesting
A rare elevation changing show this course offers almost no water but every shot has a different angle lots of ups and downs. great layout will play again. Rained recently fairways a little moist.
Park ridge
Got the chance to play park ridge yesterday. New to the area and I have played at about 10 courses so far and I would have to say park ridge is the most distinctive track I've played in the area. Fairways are in pretty good shape and the greens were a touch slow but rolled true and in great condition. Lots of elevation change and very scenic. Not the most challenging course but don't be fooled some of the hazards will put you in a tough spot if you are not careful. Overall I really enjoyed the course and would recommend it for anyone.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are happy to hear that you enjoy the course and found it to stand out among the other courses in the area. We know you have a lot of options on where to play in Palm Beach County and are pleased that you choose to play at Park Ridge. We look forward to your return to the course.
Very interesting
The course was interesting. With the par 4 and 5's, there was numerous blind shots (dog legs...) To know the yardage was difficult. They are not marked except stripped post in the fairways showing 150 yd.... They need more yardage markers.
The greens were in great shape but the tee boxes need work.
The only problem with people is the older man who was the started around 12:30pm He's a grouch.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge Golf Course. Each par 4 is marked with a 100 yard, and 200 yard disc in the center of the fairway as well as a striped pole at the 150 yard location. Par 5s are marked in this manner also, but additionally are marked with a striped pole at the 250 yard location. Flag pins are equipped with built in crystals for easy acquisition for distance measuring devices. Park Ridge has 3 dog leg holes which are relatively subtle with the exception of #8 which is our most difficult and unique hole, with a severe elevation drop down to the green.
Good customer service is something we strive for every day with every customer. Your comments concerning our starter or any other member of our staff are taken seriously and are addressed one-on-one, if possible, but at the very least in every staff meeting. If you have any additional information, please contact me, Phil Henry, manager at Park Ridge, at 561-966-8755 or via email at phrenry@pbcgov.org so that customer service shortcomings can be addressed with the staff member(s) concerned.
Great course- Bad foursome
Park Ridge is one of my favorite courses to play in South Florida because of the elevation and challenging layout. It is just a blast to play.
Unfortunately for us this time, we had a foursome in front of us who refused to let our faster playing twosome by them, causing us to have to wait at every shot. Their excuse was that they had already let one twosome go by them. So I guess that;s their limit.
Still, Park Ridge is a Great place to play!!!
Thank you for the nice comments; we’re glad to hear you enjoy our course. If you ever have concerns with pace of play while at Park Ridge, please feel free to speak with one of our on course Player’s Assistants. We look forward to seeing you next time!
Good gone bad
Most disappointing courses are not the overpriced ones but rather the ones where a potentially terrific golf course is marred by apparent lack of effort and/or attention to detail. The course was very wet but that is just golf. Poor schematics, lack of signage, incorrect yardages, and, according to FSGA/GHIN, incorrect CR/Slope & scorecards...*that* was what made the course near unplayable. We didn't even mind gallivanting on foot hundreds of yards due to cart path only, only to be accosted by an extremely abrasive Ranger who no exaggeration, got on us for putting half a tire on already muddy, flattened grass.
One of us plays to a ~8 from the tips, had played the course many times, and *still* we sometimes had no idea where we were going or what the orientation of junk/hazards was. With the huge elevation changes, it was one blind shot after another. It also does not help to post ballwashers and schematics 75 yards past the second set of tees.
This could be a great muni with minimal investment and some effort. It's a real shame.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are sorry to hear that you had a less than pleasant experience during your recent round of play. In regards to the incorrect yardage and hole ratings, the FSGA recently re-rated Park Ridge and we have ordered new scorecards to represent the changes that you encountered. We should have delivery on those cards at any time. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused during your round. We have also recognized the need to move some of our schematics and have in fact already moved the markers for the first and 10th holes. The remaining markers will be moved shortly.
We take customer service very seriously and are disappointed to hear that you found our ranger to be abrasive. We will review your comments with all of our staff and re-enforce with them our expectations concerning customer service.
If you have any additional issues, or would like to provide more insight into the issues you raised above, please do not hesitate to contact Phil Henry, Manager at Park Ridge, at 561-966-8755 or via email at phenry@pbcgov.org.
We thank you again for your review and for playing at Park Ridge. We hope to see you at the course again soon.
Least Favorite PBC Course
Decent course. Great Staff.
The elevation changes on several holes are the only really interesting feature. Fairways and tee boxes in fairly rough condition. Greens solid.
It's... ok. It's certainly my least favorite of the PBC Courses. I believe Osprey Point and Okeeheelee to be Far Superior and Southwinds to be superior to it.
The need to walk up or down to many tee boxes and greens makes this course Non Handicap Friendly.
Thank you for playing all of the Palm Beach County courses. We appreciate our loyal golfers who take the time to visit each of our facilities and to hear feedback from them.
We understand your concern about the fairways and tee boxes at Park Ridge and hope to have you back out soon. Due to the large amount of rain that we have had recently, it has been a challenge to keep the fairways neatly mowed, but we will work to alleviate that problem as the course dries.
Park Ridge, along with all Palm Beach County courses, will issue those golfers who require it, a handicap indicator on their cart, which will allow them to drive their cart closer than usual to greens and tee boxes. Please let us know in the future if you would like to use this indicator.
We know you have a wide range of options on where to golf in Palm Beach County and appreciate you spending your golfing time with us. We look forward to your return.
Poor greens and tee boxes
the greens are in bad condition, they never cut the tee boxes so I have to use a 4" tee to tee off. Also tee boxes are basically sand so you have to tee the ball up for iron shots on par 3's. Gimmicky course with cool elevation changes which is the only thing it has going for it. Starter also gave me lip about booking for 1 person which was super unprofessional. If you don't want to book singles then remove your joke course from golfnow!
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are glad you enjoyed the elevation changes and the unique to South Florida golfing experience that the course provides.
We do allow single golfers at the course and are disappointed to hear that you encountered problems as a single. We will review with our staff our policies concerning single golfers so this problem does not arise again.
Fun course with elevation changes!
Heard about a course on an old landfill site and wondered if it was similar to "Settlers Hill" in Lisle, IL. Yes, it is! Elevation changes, blind shots and the requisite gas golf carts to go up the hills.
Played 18 on 8/9/2015, fortunately my buddy and I were paired with a couple of guys that played the course regularly and they did a great job showing us the ropes (Thank you Bill & Ron). We started @ :38 and finished in 3:54, so no pace issues.
The course is pretty forgiving in most places due to the way things are spaced. That said, hitting a ball of the fairway (or an adjacent one) and its gone. The grassy spoil areas are tall, thick grass and tough to find balls in. (Trust me, keep it in fairway (yours or an adjacent one).
Course was is good to very good shape. The greens have nearly removed from aeration Earlier this summer. 3-4 weeks and they should be in excellent shape.
Highly recommended course for a golfer looking for a taste of hills and a fun course to play!
We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your golf round at Park Ridge and the challenges, and views, that it affords. We look forward to your next trip to golf with us.
Fun, technical course
This was first time playing this course and found it to be fun. Fortunately I was pair with two other folders who were familiar with the course and it's setup. Their advice and the fact that it was very forgiving on a bad shot made it an enjoyable experience. Drew(starter) was very informative and helpful in pairing up groups to keep pace of play moving. Most fairway are straight forward, so if you are starting off or refining this is a good course to try.
We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your round at Park Ridge and look forward to having you out on the course again soon. Thank you for the great review.
PBC Golf
Cool course
Awesome and fun course bc if the views. The old man at the register was super rude and not friendly at all. Have me a hard time for being 10 minutes late. But other than that had a good time.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the course and its one of a kind views.
We take customer service very seriously and are disappointed to hear you were less than pleased with your interaction with a member of our staff. We will review with our staff your comments and our expectations surrounding customer service at all points of interaction.
If you have any additional concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Phil Henry, Manager at Park Ridge, at 966-8755 or at phenry@pbcgov.org.
We know you have many options as to where to play and appreciate that you have chosen to spend that time with us. We look forward to your next visit.
Sincerely,
PBC Golf
Elevation surprised me.
Interesting course. I was surprised by the elevation and lack of water and sand on the course which is odd for Florida. It was confusing to play at times due to the lack of signage and yardage stakes, etc.
A true gem unlike most courses in Florida
Park Ridge was a very impressive municipal-owned course built on an old landfill. Because the terrain is man-made, there are more elevation changes than you find in most of the state.
The greens rolled very true and pretty quick. The layout, besides just the elevation changes, was fun and fair and included a reachable par 4.
The only complaint I had was with the clubhouse which really looked like a modified hot dog shack. Prices, though, for food and drink were very reasonable.
If you get to the area, this is a course not to be missed.
Starters need training
Course is a good course very fun with all of the hills and blind shots. Pro shop and cart attendant staff is friendly. The starters need help! First off they always pair you with people you don't even know and that sucks! For example I suck! And they pair myself an friend up with people who we really don't want to ruin their day on how novice we are an slow them down. We really just want to go out an have fun with the person we went there with. This has happened numerous times. With the short start times they give you, you feel like you have to play speed golf because someone is right In front of you an behind you they always have traffic jams because of this.
Elevation changes challenge the players
It's been a while since we played but the course brought back good memories. The overall layout and elevations really hold your attention. Lots of seemingly blind shots, refreshing views, and scenic views are a refreshing change of pace for South Florida. There was the odd "methane" odor but it did not really detract from the enjoyment. Must try it out!
The rabbits and cranes were a bonus.
Fun course
The course is in great condition ,it's always a pleasure to play and their staff is really nice. Greens were actually in excellent condition and since you're so elevated you always have a breeze. I would recommend this course to anybody plus the value is great .
Not your typical Florida course
Love this course. Huge elevation changes. Great scenery. Always recommend to those who haven't played here. You'll definitely come back.
Downside: they seem to double book from time to time. Rangers do not enforce pace of play. The older staff members are a bit "crotchety"
Biggest downside: It is built on an old landfill, so on a hot day it gets a little foul smelling.
Overall one of my favorites, it's easy to overlook the downfalls once you're out there
Nice change of pace
This is a cool course and is unlike anything in south Florida. It has a lot (for Florida) of elevation changes but if you haven't played before it can be challenging. Condition of the course was decent and the greens were well kept (not fast but true)
Ups and downs in the flatlands
This is a very unique course for southeast Florida. It was constructed over land that once was a landfill so there are elevations like no other course in south Florida. It has 6 par 4's, 6 par 5's and 6 par 3's. None of the holes have the same look. Which is impressive considering the 6 par 3's. All are unique in length, elevation and look. All in all the course is in fine shape, the greens are great right now, and it's well worth the price and travel. Try it, you'll like it!
Good Layout
The course is a good layout different from most other properties in South Florida. I wish the greens we a little nicer but I understand they were aerated as needed with all courses. This is the second county owned course where more than multiple weeks of aerating the green are still rough. I feel the courses could use some irrigation rather than just relying on rain as I have been told to promote growth. All in all I would definitely return for another round.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the course and found it to be a pleasant change to what you normally see in South Florida. We take pride in our customer service and are pleased to hear that you found our staff to be both friendly and helpful. We know you have a lot of options on where to golf in Palm Beach County and are happy that you choose to spend your golfing time with us at Park Ridge. We look forward to your return again soon.
