Forest Oaks Golf Club in Lake Worth is a public course that is still one of south Florida's best-kept secrets despite having good conditions and affordable rates. The golf course offers an enjoyable round that is challenging but playable. Opened in the 1970s, it has a classic layout that showcases what Florida golf courses are known for. It is a tight layout that requires a fair amount of accuracy but beginners won't feel too out of their league. The layout offers an excellent transition from an executive course. It measures less than 6,000 yards, offering a quick and enjoyable round for more advanced players. Forest Oaks G.C. offers the quality and conditions of a country club course but the friendly and casual atmosphere of a public facility.

This was the busy tourist season, course had a lot of play and is worn down pretty bad, it needs a rest. Staff is very friendly and accommodating
Seeing Improvements
I've played the course many times over the years but yesterday was my first day back after surgery and a three month rehab. Greens look great and I notice that they have trimmed branches and also removed some trees. Great moves. I spoke to one of the new owners and he said the improvements will keep coming. I guess that means I will too!

improving
I play this club 3 or so times a month. Conditions of the course are steadily getting better since new ownership took over several months ago. Greens and fairways are in very good shape.the couple rough tee boxes are coming around Staff is very friendly and accommodating.very good value for the money.

I've been going to this course for a couple of years now and was a regular there when it was in it's decline. Almost a year ago it was purchased by a couple of really nice guys who have been very diligent in restoring the fairways and greens to their original lustre. The greens are challenging and in very good shape. The fairways are filling up nicely and a lot of the brush along the "rough" has been cleared out. (Found about 100 balls!)
This course is not a beginners course even though the yardage is a bit light. 3 par 5's in the front and 2 in the back, a cluster of par3's on the back nine will break you if your not careful. It's a somewhat tight course with water hazards and some condos that would be in danger if you start to spray your shots all over the fairway. If you hit 'em straight you'll have no trouble.
Fun course with a very friendly and knowledgable staff.
Great Bang For Your Buck
This course is under new management and the new owners are very friendly guys. I really enjoyed coming back to this course and was really impressed with how much they have improved the greens. I mean, they are beautiful! It's not a PGA course but it is an excellent value and the reason I gave it such a high rating. I expect the overall rating to go up the more people play this improved course and enter reviews.
Improved greatly under new management
For the price you can't beat this course. Staff and owners are friendly. With the new women tees placement it is now a woman friendly course. This course has improved so much under the new management. It was a disaster last year and a lot of work had to be done to get it back to a playable. The greens are now very good. The fairway is in fair condition but still better than last year (they said they are working on improving the fairways).

Course is getting better, management is trying to improve the course. Its come along since I played it last summer.
Decent greens, horrible fairways
This could be a wonderful course if some effort was put into growing grass on the fairways. The layout is challenging, the greens are decent, but the fairways are bare in many places and even where there is grass, it's patchy and full of weeds. Just another example of a mismanaged and run down golf course.

I played this course a number of times last year.I enjoyed the course but the greens left a bit to be desired.
This year the greens are in very good condition.All the greens ran very true and were quite fast.
This can be a pretty tricky course if you don't keep your wits about you.
The price was excellant.
I will certainly be playing this course again.

Poor fairway conditions, a lot of roll the ball in the fairway to find grass to hit from. Greens were average to ok
Sorry your experience at are golf course was not so positive. My partners and I bought the place 8 months ago and it was neglected for many years. We focused on getting the greens in good shape first. This year we have come up with a plan to work on improving the fairways and tee boxes. I hope you come back in the future and give are golf course another try. We promise to be the best golf deal in Palm Beach County. Nick-Owner
GREAT NEW MANAGEMENT
Because of the price, I had played here several times in the past, but had to stop. It was in such terrible condition, I would not have played again for free.
Now that it is under new ownership, the improvements are tremendous and getting better all the time I now play. twice a week and thoroughly enjoy it. And it's still the best price in town!!!
Needs Help
They need some grass on this course. Could have played in any field and had better fairways.
Not enough carts?
I enjoy playing this course, but on Friday 1/30/2015, an outing led to a 50 minute delay in teeing off as we had to wait for carts to come in and course policy does not allow walking. We finished but within 10 minutes it was dark.
Ron sorry about the delay with a cart. My partners and I bought the golf course in June 2014. We have been fixing it up 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. We never imagined the response of people who come to play the course. We have ordered 10 new carts in Deccember figuring that 65 would be enough for the demand. However we realized that we would need to take further action due to the demand. We blocked out tee times on busy days so we do not encounter this issue again. In your comment you stated that we do not allow walking while playing the course however we do allow walking and it would be $5.00 off the price of the round which is the best price in Palm Beach County. Thank-you very much for trying our golf course. Please come back as I promise your next round played at our course will be a great golf experience.

HAS POTENTIAL- NEEDS COULD WORK ON FAIRWAYS
It's too bad the owners have let the fairways go so badly. The play-out is good, and the greens are average or better. Even with the poor fairways, it was an enjoyable afternoon.
Narrow fairways
Somewhat challenging because of the narrow fairways,great value for the money, will come again

Michael, sorry your round at forest oaks was not the best. Your description of are course is not accurate. Are greens are awesome. We had 2 tournaments on March 7 a total of 180 veterans from the american legion. One group from the Boyton Beach chapter and the other from a club on country club road in West Palm Beach. They raved about the course. Some of there comments were great layout, awesome greens, fairways and tee boxes were ok but need some work. The best part was the price $35.00 before noon and $30.00 after 12 noon and $25.00 after 2pm and that includes a cart. So Thank-you for your comment. We love to hear reviews that are specific in nature so we know what to target in the future.
