Mare Island Golf Club

Played here wih my dad and father in law and we had a blast, no one behind us, no one in front of us. Fun yet very challenging course! Go play and find out how you like it because I did!

The owners and staff are very vain, judgmental and elitist and the best part is they have zero reason to back it up. They will make little comments about people they see to you and expect you to agree and not feel uncomfortable as can be; as they pass judgement from their poorly maintained and serviced course. Everything here is run down as the rest of Vallejo with people acting like they are hosting the Masters in 1945. Very strange place. You almost feel your soul die with each step you take.. And small above is not in reference to size..

Great weather and conditions. Could not have been much better in almost all aspects. Except, we had a slow and inconsiderate 4some in front of us. Holding up at least three 4some behind us, our 2some and at least 3 or more empty fairways ahead of them slackers. Course needs a marshal to keep a descent rate of play...

Course has great views, and a lot of elevation changes. Fairly narrow fairways present a challenge off the tee box. Some bare spots on the fairways, but the greens are excellent.

First time there and was very pleased with the course. the weather was perfect, sunny, no wind, and 75 degrees. Good pace of play. There are lots of areas that the draught has made dirt and not easy to play. This course needs good placement of shots, read your guides on the score card. Greens are really challenging and therefore fun with lots of slopes/breaks. Views are as advertised --fantastic. Really enjoyed the views and drive into the course.

The course is a challenging layout, with undulating well kept greens. All the greens were consistent, however difficulty increases on back nine as it becomes more important where the flag is.

It was my first time playing Mare Island and I will go back. The club house is nothing special, but the layout of the course is a challenge.

My only criticism of the course is the sand traps are filled with heavy dirt and were hard-pack under the ball.

This is a great course. Currently the course is undergoing much needed maintenance and the improvements will bring this course up to one of the best around. Thanks Mare Island Golf! We love this course!

very difficult to play off hard pack dirt. not very much grass to hit off of and sometimes difficult to see where the tees were located.

Challenging Course, bring a couple extra balls. Food service is poor, bring your own snacks and water.

Enjoy the course, club house staff is a bit prickly. Marshalls were helpful! Food service staff were out to lunch.

Wow,very nice , new cart paths,and great fix on #3 all the brush cleared on the cliff,keep up the good work,greens in great shape,fairways on back 9 need some water.

wonderful course and excellent beautiful views around the bay area. course in super shape. was short but challenging cause you must be accurate with your drive or lost ball. some blind shots also exciting challenge. was not windy when I played, but can imagine if windy, course would be much more difficult to play. so fun and so beautiful. with I could play every day here. thank you for such a treat.

This course is no long, but it offers challenges that require shotmaking and/or course management. Long hitters will have no edge unless they are also great shot makers. And if you're not a great shotmaker, you can score by using the terrain to your advantage.

Great course with challenging holes. The back nine is has beautiful views and great course layout.

What a gem! Greens were in great condition and undulating instead of just a bunch of flat table tops. Challenging but fair. A great score or personal best here is well deserved. No shortage of bunkers and traps with quality sand. and Views and location are a a treat. Drought, like all other CA courses leaves a few dry spots on the fairways but they planned it well and and most areas like this don't come into play. The price is more than fair. The oldest course west of the Mississippi River has a nice cool marine layer in the morning. Top 5 favorites in the Bay Area under $70 for me. Very underrated. The back nine is so fun you immediately want to play it again. Stay are cool and food is great for a GC, it's not Ruth's Chris. If you like bind approach shots, fantastic views and a challenge, this gem is for you. Cannot wait till next round here!

I love this course it playes tough the greens are in great shape for a drought the fairways are alright.

There is something about Mare Island Gold Course that I love. It is tucked away on the old naval base. The course is a bit rough this summer because of the drought, but the course is just challenging enough. The back nine has lots of uphill holes and protective sandtraps. The views from the elevated tees are such a joy. The club house and driving range need work, but all in all, it was a glorious day of golf.

Almost a 6 hour round, the marshals were invisible until one of our players called the clubhouse.
Fairways were somewhat poor, due no doubt to the drought but the greens were very good and challenging.

The course was I terrible shape, lots of dirt. Greens were difficult. The views were awesome, so I'm hoping it's just the drought because this course could be a real gem.

Not a resort course by any means, but fun to play. Plays short, but temps you to go for the green on several par 4's if you have a big stick. Rough was basically dirt and scrub as it does not get watered, and the fairways are a little spotty, but what you would expect for the price. I will play again when I'm not looking for anything fancy.

Beautuful well kept course! Great views and great challenges. This course is now one of our go too courses!
