Mare Island Golf Club

The greens rough and the fairways needed cutting, I know with recent rain that it needed it but weren't done, it's a good course fun, I'm playing a tournament there in 2 weeks hopefully they should be trimmed .

I shouldn't be so hard on Mare Island but I have pla-yed three times before and every single time I never really enjoy myself. I find the greens unmanageable, the fairway soggy and the lies too sloppy.

Course is in fair shape. Its late in the year..no h2o..but at least cut the greens.

Paired on course with twosome beginners not being able to swing, waiting too long for them to get the ball moving forward from everywhere except fairways and greens.

6somes on a Sunday? Come on, seriously...

People trying to jump in between groups on 10 tee? Call to pro shop and nothing is done about it.

This is a place I may revisit but then again, with no apparent leadership, probably safer to just choose another facility.

Excellent course that is not overly difficult; one of my favorites. However, there are lots of elevation changes. Moderate number of hazards. Great scenic views and the current conditions are excellent. Friendly staff.

it rained it was cold and i should of asked for a rain check.

BAD fairways....... BAD sand traps ......beverage service what's that? water on the course for drinking ? where's that? Even at a reduced rate 42$ was way too much I'm surprised their still in business

I played with my two sons and this location was midway between our homes. We thoroughly enjoyed the day, beautiful weather, great location and the pace of play was brisk for a Friday. Apparently the drought has taken a toll on the course's condition, but I'll definitely be back.

I've been playing Mare Island for two or three years now, and I'm always happy to be there. The views of the Bay, Napa River, and Carquinez Strait are always beautiful, and the course, with its hill-and-dale Scottish quality is wonderful. The shape of the course is seasonal but generally good enough to not get in the way of a good round. I'll continue to go there time after time. Love the place.

Be warned: It's not easy, but when you get the hang of it, you'll come back for more.

Challenging, yet forgiving if you choose correct driving club or irons

Fun course close to Benicia that will challenge your game. When the course is watered it is beautiful and plays nicely. Currently, the course has little water and is very dry/hard. We experienced crazy bounces and extremely fast greens. It was a fun time with friends and family.

If it wasn't for the dry, hard fairways, the course would be nice. It was a beautiful, wind-free day and we had fun anyway but it was impossible to take a divot.

As we move into the winter months, I find the course to be more dry. The fairways are more hard pan then usual. I still think the value for the course is great and will continue playing it.

I hadn't played Mare Island in over 1 year, so when I saw the conditions of the course I was disappointed. The fairways throughout most of the course were not maintained at all. The course was in very poor condition and it might be another year before I book a tee time at Mare Island Again.

Good course, a bit slow. Outside staff need to upgrade their behavior. Inside staff member very efficient. great views.

Mare Island is a good course....entertaining and varied terrain. THE course is maintained in a good to decent level. THE greens are overall in good shape, which is a real plus.
THe only drawback was the lack of fairway grass, as with many courses in this area, that have gone to a firm fairways policy they struggle to maintain solid fairway grass density and growth. I am sure that part of the story is also the rising cost of water. Overall a good place to play and I think they have worked hard to make it a solid bargain for your money. Give it a try...I think you'll like it.

Decent shape like Blue Rock. Plays like 2 different course front and back. Bunkers could use a bit more sand but I guess it makes you try to stay out of them! Nice elevation changes with elevated tees and greens that are in nice shape right now. Some of best views of the bay along with the stiff winds to keep you on your toes.

Great Views, Great Burrito, Great Price............pretty tough course, lot's of "golf shots" needed .........FUN

The course was not very long but provide lots of challenges and required proper placement off the tee. The greens were in great shape and again required you to place your ball in right areas to have a good chance for par and birdie.
