With an excellent location surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains to one side and overlooking Georgia's Great Lake on the other, Lanier Islands Legacy Golf Course provides the perfect setting for a round of golf. The diverse, rolling landscape ranges from dense forest to open meadows to pristine beaches. Water has a strong presence throughout the golf course, coming into play on 12 holes. Many of them play right along the lake's shoreline. At 6,580 yards, the course is not particularly long but it is still a formidable challenge for long hitters since it requires quite a few demanding carries over the water. One of the most memorable holes for this reason is the par-4 12th, which presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity if you dare to cut the corner.

Great Course but Greens need work.

Course layout was great, facilities are great staff is great, Greens are very firm very difficult to hold. Overall a great place to play golf.

Amazing Course

Very challenging and amazing course in great shape. The views are phenomenal throughout the entire round. Fairways are narrow in many holes and test your placement for sure. There are some blind shots so make sure you take a peek ahead.

Great Course, Greater Challenge

This course is in pristine condition. The layout is very challenging and I am not the best golfer by any means but the views and conditions make it very enjoyable. I was lucky enough to play here on a hot deal and it was worth it.

The staff is very friendly as well and the overall experience was great. Range balls, drinks and some light snacks were all included which was awesome. Definitely hope I can play here again one day.

Condition of Greens

This is a very nice course that charges a healthy green fee to play. I think that players should be notified when making a tee time that the greens have been recently aerated, and are very unpredictable. Also, there are several cart path only holes on this course for no apparent reason. Again, for the rates they charge, you should be able to take the cart on all of the fairways, unless there is a significant repair area that has to be cared for. I'm okay with paying a premium, but that premium should cater to the player, not the greenskeepers.

Thank you for your feedback. The greens were aerated almost 3 weeks ago and our golf maintenance staff have been working diligently on playing conditions. We have had a significant amount of rain and unusual weather so far in August.

As for cart path only holes, compaction (multiple golf carts driving on small fairways) is the reason, not necessarily recent rainfall.

Punched greens still recovering and slow pace, but still a good time

The greens were aerated a couple of weeks ago and are only 50-60% healed. Biggest complaint was pace of play: we played as a twosome, and were stuck behind 2 separate foursomes. The leading foursome had the course wide open ahead of them but were playing at a snails pace. I understand it’s a resort course but it completely killed round tempo to be sitting for 5 minutes between shots.

What could be better ?

This course is super nice, everyone is as nice as they could be. The amenities are great and the place runs like a Swiss watch. If you want to know what it feels like to play at your home country club then try this out. A beautiful blend of the lake and golf. If you’re looking at price, it may be more than some in the area, but you owe it to yourself to try it at least once. Well worth the price. We will be back soon.

This course wraps around the lake and is amazing. Must play I live in Fl so great elevation changes
