About
Laurel Hill Golf Club has some of the best conditions of any public course in the area, which is why it is popular amongst the locals. It is hard to believe that the club sits where the DC Department of Corrections facility at Lorton used to be located. The layout has a traditional design, but unlike older golf courses it runs a lengthy 7,102 yards from the back tees. The greens are lightning fast and undulating. There is defined contouring throughout the course, which allows for some interesting holes. Although the fairways are wide open they are still punishing towards errant shots. There are dramatic elevation changes throughout the golf course, making a flat lie nearly impossible to find. The course provides a formidable test for even the most seasoned players.

So Slow
Had a 1:47 PM tee time and was standing on the tee box of the 16th hole at 6:00. Ended up leaving since you could see about 4 foursomes one the remaining two holes.
Why?
Why would you charge $115 if the greens aren’t fully healed from being aerated. Also, they sent out a two some with me and didn’t realize they only had one set of clubs which made it 10x slower.

Excellent course
Great piece of property and well designed with great variety of holes and greensites
Greens and fairways had been aerified within past week or two, but the staff did such an excellent clean job of aerifying and topdressing rolling etc that it didnt really have much effect on putting
Plenty of tee choices to challenge golfers of all abilities and while some greensites are heavily bunkered or carry over water,,, the approaches directly in front of green on longer holes almost allways allow for a ball to roll up or for a short shot to have a relatively easy up and down
Staff were very friendly and professional. Whole place seems outstanding without being pretentious

You ever wonder why people play golf alone? When you get paired with them you won't need to wonder. My boy and I had a great day out except for the guy who thought it was Sunday at Augusta with us.

Laurel Hill
Very nice course but they seem to be cart path only all the time (rain, shine, drought, whatever)… still unsure why that is? It really slows things to a grind and many times you can’t see your ball location from the cart path so you need to always take 3 clubs… of course a miss hit and it’s back to the cart for another club, etc. bottom line, is it’s nice, but this takes the luster away.

Very tough track
I can see why this course is one the highest rated courses in the DMV area. It's a real pretty track but very challenging with lots of elevation changes. The rating from the whites was 142; pars were very hard to come across. The green fee includes free range balls. The practice mats were pretty hard and beat up. The practice putting green was nice. The course layout was outstanding. Many elevation changes. For a guy like me who's used to flat courses, this track proved to be very challenging. The greens rolled fast and true. Only negatives: 1) carts were outdated with no gps, 2) it was cart path only because they wanted to protect the grass even though it was already late in March and the weather was warm. I bet this course must look phenomenal late in the Spring and in the Summer.

Twice as good as every other course the same price in NOVA
Fantastic challenging layout and one of the best quality courses in the entire DMV area. Greens were quicker than most courses around and roll true. Fairways and tee boxes were in great condition, better than some of the other courses would be at their best time of the year. Absolute must play!

Other than people not fixing their ball marks & beaver tails.. I've played here 3x since the new year.. Pace of play has been decent during each Round. Planning to play this course a good bit.. Try it for yourself.
