About
Laurel Hill Golf Club has some of the best conditions of any public course in the area, which is why it is popular amongst the locals. It is hard to believe that the club sits where the DC Department of Corrections facility at Lorton used to be located. The layout has a traditional design, but unlike older golf courses it runs a lengthy 7,102 yards from the back tees. The greens are lightning fast and undulating. There is defined contouring throughout the course, which allows for some interesting holes. Although the fairways are wide open they are still punishing towards errant shots. There are dramatic elevation changes throughout the golf course, making a flat lie nearly impossible to find. The course provides a formidable test for even the most seasoned players.

Great course but hard
Really nice course conditions were really good even with a decent amount of water the previous few days. Very challenging with tons of elevation change and numerous bunkers. Narrow tee shots open to wide fairways but tons of up and down elevation.

Very solid and changing course
Not for the faint of heart. This is a challenging course for sure. However, the fairways, tee boxes, and greens were all very nice and in good shape. Really enjoyed my round.

Course was in very nice shape. Greens were a little hard but rolled true. Got rained out so maybe the rain will help the greens, waiting on refund from GolfNow.

The green have spots where it looks like mold might be trying to grow?! But other than that and a 4:45 minute play it was great! I like to keep it at 4 hours.

Great public venue
Laurel Hill is a very good course with lots of variety. The fairways are wide but the course plays long. This course can be windy and tricky with club selection. Expensive if you don’t get a deal.

Beautiful design
Loved the layout and course was in excellent condition. I didn’t realize Lorton was this scenic. Only negative of whole day of was a staff member telling us the group behind us was complaining about our pace of play. We only saw this group once or twice waiting to tee off. Mostly they were an entire hole behind us. We finished in 4 hours and 20 minutes which was fine in my book.
Aside from that, a great outing. it is one of my favorite courses in area.

Great public venue
Definitely one of the nicest courses in NOVA. Love the layout and no houses on the course. Good conditions throughout. Play it whenever I can get a decent rate.

What about markers?
Course was super fun and the rental clubs were excellent. Only downside was little to no yardage markers. Without a rangefinder or course book, a lot of shots were guessed regarding the distance. If I had a rangefinder, I’d give it 5 stars every time.
