Windy day, but a very warm welcome
My brother an I played this course for the first time and recived a very warm welcome from several of the locals. The course its self is a park/woodland course with quite a few interesting holes that will have you reaching for a club other than a driver. It was in pretty good condition given the rain we have had recently, the fairways and greens were running well. There were a few bobbles on the greens, but pretty good for the price. I would certainly play again.
Great course, great staff
Beautiful course with very helpful & friendly pro shop, clubhouse & course staff. It's a must to play if you're in or close to Barnard Castle.
Great course
Only real suggestion I would make is that the course can be a little confusing on some of the holes, so I suggest an image on the tee box signs as other courses have.
Others might think it’s not necessary, but as a visitor it’s just a suggestion.
Go to venue for an enjoyable round
I play here several times a year and always find it enjoyable.
Plenty of people on the course, but as a solo player, I was let through quickly. I was round in under 3 hours.
Greens had been tined and sanded so we’re not in best condition but rest of the course was in pretty good shape.
Great Layout Poor Condition
A magnificent parkland course with a great layout and some top notch holes
Unfortunately let down by the greens which I can only describe as absolutely terrible (timed heavily sanded absolutely dead and bumpy)
The pace of play was also challenging as it was totally rammed (4 hours)
Course review
Greens in fantastic condition I know it’s been really dry over there fairways abit burn in places but apart from that friendly helpful staff nice friendly members too well worth a visit 10/10
B.Castle Golf
I really cant recomend this course enough. it was in brilliant condition, the holes are varied and set in beatiful surroundings and the staff are very friendly. The bacon sandwich was good as well.
Fantastic challenging course
What a wonderful course to play! A lovely setting and well maintained course. Offering good variance of holes and exciting play. The front 9 poses a more challenging start to a round with a slightly easier feel heading back to the clubhouse.
Holes are designed to be technically challenging and rewarding for well hit shots. I really enjoyed playing Barnard Castle and look forward to the next time.
Worst greens going
Played this course many times over the years and this has to be worst experience ive had. The course is not being maintained this is shown massively on the greens which is like putting on the fairway. I've seen council ran course with better greens.
Always worth playing
18 different and very good holes, although 17th is a shadow of it’s former self as it is presently played as a par 3 - taking away one of the best drives from the back tees.
Brilliant Course
Great course, friendly clubhouse. Lovely place to play golf for all abilities
Friendly members
Nice course just sanded the greens so they weren't great but remainder of the course was good and would definitely play there again
Triffick
