This course is WOW
Clubhouse is an old stable building tons of character. Professional very welcoming. A great shop. Driving range to practice. Nets and Putting and chipping green on the way to first Tee. Get your Par on the first as what is to follow needs good golf. Ravines are on a number of holes but this is the charm of this course. Tees are OK. Fairways are a pleasure to play from. Greens had been spiked when we played but putted amazing.
This course is a delight scenery is good. saw deer crossing the course. We had a great day on a wonderful; course. Chips were good too.
Magnificent course with a welcome to match l
Despite the awful weather, the course was in superb condition & we were given a very warm & gracious welcome.
The beer & food in the clubhouse are of high quality & great value..
Some extremely memorable holes & a very high standard of green keeping make this place a must visit..
The best in County Durham
If you're looking for a golf course that stands out in the North East, Brancepeth Castle Golf Club might just be the best around.
The course is fantastic—challenging in all the right ways. The greens are quick and tricky, They're tough but in a good way that keeps you thinking. The fairways are in great shape, and the bunkers are exactly where they should be. It's a course that really tests your skills, so if you're a high handicapper, you might find it a bit tough, but that's part of the charm.
The practice facilities are spot on, a driving range, nets, putting and chipping greens. The pro shop is well-stocked with everything from clubs to clothing, and the staff are very welcoming.
Brancepeth Castle is also set to host the England Golf English Seniors Men’s Amateur Championship soon, which just goes to show how good this course really is.
All in all, Brancepeth Castle Golf Club is a must-visit if you're in the area. It’s got everything a golfer could want—great layout, excellent conditions, and a challenge that keeps you coming back for more. Just be ready for a tough, but thoroughly enjoyable, round of golf!
I’ll be back
Great course and challenging course in great condition and quick greens I’ll definitely be back again
Greens are a little slow to what I've played before and a little boggy on on the back nine. However people let me play through and very friendly. For the time of year still a good and testing course. I will be back
Poor greens
Paid for this through golf now ,and on arrival were told only 17 holes available, and unable to compensate due to this.however the pro shop also forgot to tell us that 6 greens had been airated ,this made them virtually unplayable as greens had not been sanded or rolled after and was like playing tipping point on the green .overall the course is nicely laid out and fairways in good contion ,just the greens spoilt the round .Especially for the price
Good condition despite the rain
There has been a good amount of rain recently but the course is still great condition with only a few muddy patches here and there on the fairways. Greens for the most part we're spot on and quick. Nice scenic course with some interesting drives over valleys and a few long open greens suited me as a a high handicapper.
Brilliant day
Thoroughly enjoyed playing here. Great course and very helpful and friendly staf
Fabulous course
This is one of the best courses I've played in recent years. The setting is stunning and the course layout fantastic (but it's not what I'd call one for high handicappers). Even though we had a massive downpour for hours before the round, the condition and playability of the course was still great, with the greens a real standout.
This is a somewhere I'll definitely be visiting again.
Nice course
Beautiful course. Greens in good condition. Friendly members and staff.
Great golf course
Considering it was the back end of a bad winter - the course conditions where great and well kept!
Challenging course definitely will be back.
Looking tired
Nice course layout. Friendly staff. Unfortunately the course and facilities are looking very tired. Greens were terrible, bunkers poorly maintained and just a general shabbiness about the whole place.
Such a shame for a once great set up.
Nostalgic return
I was a member at Brancepeth as a junior so I was looking forward to returning to my old club. The weather was excellent but unfortunately it was a bit of adissapointing return. The staff were friendly and welcoming but sadly the place from clubhouse to course is looking very tired. The course condition generally was dissapointing. Greens were very poor, bunkers in bad shape, tee boxes shabby. Appreciate the time of year but in comparison to other courses its not the course it used to be. Lovely course design sadly let down.
Superb layout....but
Have played Brancepeth Castle, a few times now, and keep coming back for a reason. Superb layout, condition and facilities.....but, pace of play was painfully slowly. Just me playing, and stuck behind a society playing in about 5 x four balls. To be fair to them, they did approach me and explain, so no point getting let through. After 9 holes & 2.5hrs later i called it a day. Did also speak to a member playing a two ball and they weren't happy about pace either. Shame, but will play again as love the course.
