Tough par 3’s at Brancepeth
Course in good pre-summer condition – greens slightly inconsistent but will doubtless improve shortly when the better weather arrives. The course is challenging and fun to play but not one for beginners or those trying to get back into the game after a long lay-off. The course includes a quite steep ravine running across some holes – there are a couple of 200 yard par 3’s which are especially tough if you aren’t 100% accurate off the tee – if you come up short or miss the green it knocks the wind out of your sails and can easily result in one or two dropped shots and associated penalties. In most instances the yellow amateur tees are almost the same yardage as the white medal tees which adds an additional challenge for the casual player.
Do not play on a Sunday ( too slow)
Do not play on a Sunday took us 4 and half hours in a 2 ball, stood waiting to play every single shot, no one lets you play through. It’s a real shame as it’s a lovely course but for £40 the pace of play is embarrassing, at one point had 3 different groups waiting to play a par 3
Very good course
Helpful pro.
Both of us struggled mainly with so many bunkers on the course, was in good nick although greens had just been sanded.Excellent par 3s.A lot of scenic walks over bridges above ravines.Course was probably playing tough as still March.
Last few holes the rain got us.Bar staff and members friendly enjoyed after game drinks which we needed!
Very good course recommended.
Brancepeth one of the best in North east
Second time visiting course. Cannot complain. Only 1 single tempory green. Everything in good condition. Brilliant friendly clubhouse. Can't add anymore.
Great winter conditions
Only the 1 temporary green on which was the 7th, par 3s on mats but the course was in very good condition for this time of year. It really is one if the best tracks around this area.
Great Course
Played here twice now, by far the nicest course in the area, well maintained and clubhouse food well priced.
Good value
Club members welcoming, Pro not so. Quite a few steep climbs. Interesting layout, would play again.
The course has great features
First time playing this course and found it to be one of the best in Durham. Course has a great lay out with difficult par 3s. Unfortunately a lot of maintenance had started on the greens with one green off altogether but this happens at every course around this time of year. Would recommend this course but anyone who is unfit to hire a buggy.
A good time
We had a good time although there was a bit of a traffic jam at the par threes.
Lovely challenging course
The course was generally in immaculate condition. The highlight for me were the fantastic long Par 3’s of the 9th and 10th holes.
One disappointing area were the greens. Their was no consistency in the speed of them and this varied from hole to hole.
A rather long day stuck behind a competition but otherwise a really enjoyable course and one I would certainly play again.
Brilliant course
Really good course, I’m new to the game so found it really challenging, but still enjoyable.
