Over booked
No course management of corporate bookings and was clearly over booked
Spoke to a few members who were walking off saying the club is struggling as so many members are leaving
Had to walk off after 9 holes - 2.5 hours!
We will never return !
Lovely course in great condition, friendly staff.
Really lovely golf course, a little more 'forgiving' than other courses we've played in Northumberland i.e. occasionally ending up on adjacent fairway after a wayward drive. The course was in great condition, and the greens fast but 'true' - greens were also soft, I guess because they'd been watered early + it rained heavy the day before - so balls were stopping quickly on the greens, much better than pitching short and hoping they run onto the green. The course didn't feel as long as the card suggested, perhaps partly helped by dry, hot and sunny weather with low wind. Staff were pleasant and informative, although a minor quibble - we were told food is served all day but in fact stopped at 3.30pm (Tuesday) although there were some meat pasties/pies, etc in a glass case (unfortunately I'm vegetarian). Our round finished at 4pm ! All in all we really enjoyed the day, we'll be back for sure.
Decent day out
Booked on a hot deal which was a bit of a bargain for a Sunday morning. Friendly staff, clubhouse having some improvements done which look good. A housing development has been built on the old par 3 course since some work going on here and there but no bother. Nice tree lined course in a rural area with some challenging holes. Generally well kept. Temporary hole no7 was a bit odd but I’m sure it’ll get sorted. Welcoming, friendly players out on the course too.
Good course
We played on a Saturday afternoon and were behind a society playing in fourballs. We were a two, so pace was slow for us although the society's pace of play was okay for fourballs.
Our initial opinion was that the practice putting green wasn't great, however the greens on the course were good.
The course is of reasonably modern construction so longer than average off the white tees. Fairways are reasonably wide. There are longer walks from tee to green than on more traditional courses.
Overall a course worth playing and just half a mile from the A1 is easily found.
Shame about greens
Course in excellent condition shame about the greens. Spoilt par 3 7th but all in all enjoyed ot in very windy conditions
Brilliant course
Brilliant course and really friendly staff, only my second time out at a golf club and I loved it, really hard course for beginners like myself, but a great and humbling experience, most definitely will return.
I'll be back
First time playing the course and I really enjoyed the round. Staff were super friendly and helpful, he talked me through some of the trickier holes before I went out. The course was having some improvements being completed, but they didn't affect the round. I thought it was great value for money and I'll definitely be back during the summer months to play again
Burgham park golf
Good course layout greens were super quick tip top condition. Will definatky be back.
Maturing really nicely!
I was a member at Burgham many years ago, and I haven’t played it for quite some time, but saw there was a hot deal on so my dad and I thought we would pop up for a round.
When I used to play here, the course still had the feel of quite a new golf course, however it has really matured and is turning in to a really nice course now that a lot of the trees have grown!
It’s a long walk round and will be challenging if you don’t hit the ball very far, but thoroughly enjoyed the round.
Intrigued to see what they do with the 7th hole once all of the building work is done.
Definitely think it’s a shame that the clubhouse doesn’t seem to be very busy, as the bar area looks like it has all been refurbished and was really nice. The staff member at the bar was really friendly when we signed in and when we stopped for a pint after!
Hopefully the new housing estate in the middle of the course will help to bring some more business to the clubhouse!
Greens could have been a little bit better but it’s still early in the year, and some of the semi rough/rough was just a bit thick, but overall we enjoyed it and I think we might come back again later in the year and see what it’s like after some nicer weather!
Cost
As 2 OAP S ,we go round the county playing at different golf clubs each week , I check web sites and my app and there is 50 + spare t-off times , most days ,but they are charging visitors to much for a round , no wonder most clubs are struggling, my round at burgham was very enjoyable and the course was in excellent condition, I will be looking to book around next week at a different course , but will go back and recommend it to others .
Nice course in terrible condition
Played yesterday for 1st time in 2 years. Always loved this course in the past but it should simply not be open at the moment. Fairways so boggy in parts they were unplayable, lots if bunkers not playable as under repair, greens in lovely condition but that was the only positive point. Lots of housing building work going on around the course, don’t know if that had anything to do with how boggy it was? Such a shame a once great course is now so difficult to play on. Won’t be back for a while I’m afraid.
Course conditions
After wet weather the course was excellent and greens were in great condition, credit to the green keeper's , definitely be going back .
Grand day out
Have passed this course many times when travelling on the A1 and have always meant to stop and play a round. First time played on Saturday and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Staff really friendly and helpful. Good to have a basket of balls for warm up on the range. Course was in great condition, and although winter tees, with mats on the par 3s, all greens were in play. Only a bit damp in a few places despite the heavy rain over the last couple of weeks. Majority of members were very welcoming. Only issue was a group of members who jumped in before the pair in front of us, although we and the couple in front were due to tee off on booked times. To rub salt in it, they were really slow. Thankfully they packed in after 9 holes and the pace on the back 9 was fine. Didn’t let it spoil a wonderful, sunny, winter golf round. Will certainly be back and very happy to recommend.
Wonderful friendly course
I’ve played here a fair bit over the summer and the course has always been in great condition. Yesterday was very wet but still great condition other than unavoidable boggy areas.
The housing construction is a shame but it doesn’t ruin the experience.
The staff always provide a warm and friendly welcome. And it’s always a satisfying moment hitting a clean drive on the 18th.
The only thing that would improve this course for me would be the addition of a halfway house, but I’m nitpicking here.
Great course, absolutely would recommend.
