Diamond in the rough

Does plays like a council course, no Tee box signs only red and yellow markers. No sand in bunkers some overgrown with weeds and new pins and flags required.

All this taken in, its such a shame this course has a great layout each hole interesting with wide fairways that are tree lined. So you rarely feel like your running up and down another hole. Greens and fairways in good condition.

Couple of great holes I was really impressed and enjoying it but I play a lot of random courses so I will mark this one up as played but unlikely to return, which is such a shame, some money spent bringing this course up a level I would come back and bring friends without question.

Like a long pitch and put

No hole signage at all. Like no number, map, distance or directions. Bunkers were overgrown and greens were mossy. Very poor.

Course

Interesting course, needs some investment in the clubhouse. Would benefit from information markers on the tees.

Very good condition

Thought the course was in excellent condition.

The fairways well maintained and the majority of the rough a reasonable height that allowed you to find your ball and get it back into play.

The greens once again in excellent condition.

The bunkers are not in play and that’s the only downside.

Overall I think the course is in excellent condition

Poor condition

Bunkers were full of weeds and no sand, no course markers. Fairways and tee boxes were too long, a very poor course compared to last time played it..

Very poorly maintained

Poor corse

No map on score card.

Badly maintained routes between holes.

Hard to find your way round. The group ahead of us waited at one green as they couldnt find the next hole, neither could we, we had to split up and it turned out it was down a massivly nettle over grown track we had to chop through with our clubs. In the carpark another guy who had been on the corse said it was more of an assault cause than a golf course.

Holes all over the corse, no supprise seeing the amount of rabbits and squirrels we did on the way round.

If i had paid £5 -10 a round max i would understand, but for 25 i can play qulity manicured courses around the north east.

Never ever play here

I honestly don't think I can express how terrible this course was.

At the start I gave my name and asked "Do you have any golf balls for sale?" to which I got a very stern "no". Which ended what I thought was going to be a fairly reasonable conversation to have, which would be to buy golf balls at a golf course.

Now lets start with the conditions of the course, the rough was longer and more out of control than some trees. The fairways were 80% dead and in the rare areas where they weren't dead, they had rough just in the middle.

How far do you hit your 8 iron? 140, 150 yards? not on this course....190 yards. Why? Because as soon as the ball hits this concrete of a course it will shoot off in any direction an extra 50 yards.

There were only 3 signs on this course, all at the start and all covered in graffiti. So once you start the first hole, you're immediately thrown into most mundane maze of your life. Honestly with the lack of signs, direction and cement fairways it was like trying to navigate out of a multi-storey carpark with a blindfold on. Genuinely, on three separate occasions people asked us "where's the next hole" to which every time we replied "I haven't a clue".

The walkways in between the holes were treacherous and looked more like a scene out of a failed Jurrasic Park movie. In one of the pictures i've uploaded, you can see the bridge has fallen into the river, so have to walk about around and into the last hole you played.

Most golf courses have a signature hole, maybe a short par 3 down a hill or a beautiful sweeping dog leg over some water. Not this course, you get a treat a hole on this course. This is of course the bunkers, which are filled with gravel and weeds. Every single hole had bunkers and every single one was filled with gravel and weeds, it literally removed an element of the game.

This is the worst course i've ever played.

Great layout

The course was in immaculate condition, hats off to the green keeper and staff, Sadly due to covid the off course amenities were closed, however the lady in the pro shop had a cold beer so turned out great, sad to hear the course is closing at the end of summer due to council taking part of the land back.

A course which punishes the wayward shot but rewards the good shot. Fairways were good but bunkers were in poor condition, Tees could be spruced up: however overall good. and would play the course again.

Poor facilities

No numbers on tee boxes and limited directions. Rubbish scattered around and graffiti all around. Bunkers all overgrown with no sand. Course itself could be lovely but how it is now is a disgrace. £26 is a ridiculous price and I wouldn't play again unless drastic improvements made.

Which hole?

No markers on tee boxes to determine the hole number. Was asked by another player which hole he was playing because he didn’t know.

Tee boxes poor. Full of weeds.

Club house shut down. No access to toilets.

Thoroughly Enjoyable

If your a completely average player like myself it’s perfect. Not too demanding but extremely enjoyable. Bunkers are a nuclear fallout zone and there is next to no sign posts that clearly direct you to the next hole. Got lost twice. It’s a shadow of the place it once was, but would 100% recommended.
