Linden Hall great potential
Really enjoyed playing this course but it could be even better. McDonald Hotels missing a trick. With investment around a clubhouse and minor course improvement could compete with nearby Matfen and other golf hotels.
Saying that fairways and greens in good nick. Bunkers could do with more sand and rough very unforgiving. Overall though great value for money on a nice quiet course
Linden Hall, challenging
Overall a nice course with some truly outstanding holes (13 is a cracker), and picturesque par 3’s.
Bunkers could have been a bit tidier and greens had just been voted so rather bumpy but probably really good in a few weeks. Lots of hidden bunkers and quite tight lines off the tee.
Well worth a visit.
Fantastic
I have played before...early and late season when the course has been a bit sticky but wow yesterday was amazing.
The course was in great shape... fairways and greens were good and some of the settings were fantastic...
Thank you
Good again
2 ball, early afternoon, course in good condition, we both thoroughly enjoyed it, will play again.
Such a quiet peaceful course, with some fabulous par 3s.
Massive potential - Sadly unrealised
It’s obvious at some point this course has been special. But sadly those days have been and gone. Run down and poorly maintained. Only paid £15 for the round and sadly that’s all it deserved. Has the potential to be very very good, but huge investment required. I had a buggy and the paths inbetween holes were rough going. God knows how you get around with a trolley.
Sadly would not recommend.
Didnt quite deliver
The layout of the course is very good with arguably not a weak hole on the course. Pace of play was good with no hold ups, but this was midweek. I have played it when it has been painfully slow. Par 3 holes are visually very appealing (apart from tee boxes see below(and a joy to play. The course condition overall though was disappointing to be honest. Greens were slow, didnt look like they had been cut and were also in the process of being pencil tyned i think they call it, putted ok...but course looked like it needs tidying up to make it visually more appealing eg bunker on 12th by green very unkempt, stream around 13th green full of weed, 18th fairway covered in poo from what looked like canadian geese, no green seed boxes by tees to help cover divots some tee boxes mainly par 3 quite badly divoted. (one less job for greenkeepers?)etc. Even main hall when walk from 9th green to 10th tee looks tired and in need of attention as does parts of the other buildings, spa and linden tree pub. Oh and the push trolley I rented broke. Linden Hall is still a good place to go and value for money, but with a little more attention to detail it would be so much better.
Very enjoyable
Got a great deal st £20 for a 0718 tee time. Very quiet perfect. Probably only saw 12 other golfers during my round. Will play there again for sure.
LINDEN GOLF
Excellent facilities and very friendly and helpful staff. Course is in great condition and gives you a chance at every hole. Only downside is the cost of refreshments and alcohol, very expensive and lets down the overall experience of playing at Linden, saying all that i love playing the course and i suppose you pay for the fantastic surroundings and facilities. I am tempted to become a member
Thanks
Good course
Very good condition, Nicely laid out however bunkers need some work
Course is well laid out and is very scoreable. Unfortunately the weather has taken its toll on the course, with the recent wet weather the keepers have struggled to maintain the course properly. Would recommend to others but come when it’s dry.
Linden Hall Golf Club
A tremendous course spoilt by the management and owners who have neglected this beautiful course for years now. Every hole is a pleasure and all the holes different to one another. Only thing that spoils it is the total neglect of the course. Fairways uncut and rough is far to long at least 3-4 inches high. Greens full of sand they’ve never been watered in weeks and never been cut since last year. Wish I was a millionaire I’d take this place over and turn it into the gem it should have always been.
grass cuttings on fairways semi was covered in grass losing balls under cuttings greens were realy bad
Course conditions
The course is in a bad way, most fairways are boggy and your balls are plugging all the time. The greens are in a dire state, they have been spike for the winter and not back filled. When your paying £55 per person its not really worth it. Lovely course when properly maintained.
Excellent day out
Excellent conditions considering recent weather, friendly helpful staff, good pace of play. Well stocked shop and half way house.
Bad winter golf experience
Course was in very bad condition. I don't think it should have been open at all. Our group spent more time looking for balls in and around the fairways than spent playing. The ground was so waterlogged that balls hit down the middle of the holes were disappearing, plugged into the ground.
The course layout looks promising aside from there being next to no signage, we may try again in the summer.
Clubhouse, shop and staff were great.
