The quirky 150 yard 18th Photo submitted by dbowman1 on 09/28/2020
Great course but very hilly
Really enjoyed the course and round at Richmond. Quite hilly and my electric trolley packing up the day before wasn't ideal but it didn't spoil the experience.
Good value Saturday (millionaire’s) golf
£20 often doesn’t buy much on a Saturday- if anything. However Richmond while perhaps not being the longest, hardest or most charismatic course in Yorkshire certainly was a pleasant surprise. Teeing off mid-afternoon I expected to play quickly and be held up by the tail of the day’s competitive golfers. As it was, I barely spotted another golfer. The howling winds might have done it- the winds certainly played havoc with my distance control but I thoroughly enjoyed the risk and rewards holes
- needing only a hybrid to drive the green on 17, while not seeing my tee shot on the charismatic 18th led to a pleasant surprise- and a birdie finish.
Highly recommended: I will return on a calmer day. Oh and bring your putter A game: the greens are fiendish in places.

Terrific course played in early feb 2023. Lots of interesting holes, undulating fairways with greens in excellent condition. Hidden gem.
Good course, but greens undergoing maintenance.
Guy in the pro shop agreed for me to play earlier than booked with a couple of other visitors, which was really good.
The course is relatively testing, with various elevated trees and dog legged holes, which always makes it interesting.
Unfortunately, the greens were in the process of being tined and sanded, so could of been better. Would guess that they will be a real test in the summer.
The bar was okay, but the food was distinctly average.
Overall, good day was had, and will definitely come again.
Little beauty
What a beautiful little course. Great challenge. Greens were superb.
Well maintained and nice place to play
Quite short but interesting course.
Without doubt it would help to play a few times to get a better feel for the best lines to take on the majority of the holes.
Maybe some maps on the hole at the tee boxes would assist as the map on the scorecard is pretty small.
Friendly staff in the pro shop and although the pace of play was slow I was playing on my own and at the first opportunity I was let through by the group in front.
Overall a good place to play.
Great course, can be challenging, will be back
We’ve played Richmond a few times in the past few years, and it’s one of my favourite courses. It’s well kept, the greens are challenging and not easy to read. I like that there are several blind or shorter tee shots too - not every par 4 is a driver, and it requires some real thought at times.
My only comment would be the lack of yardage markers. Why not install coloured posts at the edge of fairways? Currently there is just an often easily-missed yellow 150 marker disc in the ground, and some 200 and 100 yard markers, more easily visible than the current 150 markers, would be a good and helpful addition. At times it can be difficult to gauge distance and the course could do with more markers.
Lovely fairways. tricky but well maintained greens with plenty to test your putting skills but overall a lovely course in a very scenic and beautiful county. Would like to play again when next in Richmond area.
Richmond golf course
All in all the course was in great condition tee to green even thou they was irrigation work on the fairways would definitely recommend people to play this little gem
Lovely Course
First time playing this course and what a great surprise. No winter greens or mats and it in great condition considering its Feb. Pace was a little slow as following a 4 ball comp but you come to expect this on a hot deal. Though not particularly long, the course is undulating and gets the heart rate going at times (between the 2nd & 3rd is a beast!). Enjoyed the course so much, I booked again for the following day. Will definately be back again soon!
Great Course
What a little gem. A little compact in places and you need to be wary of others. All in all one of the nicest courses I've played.
New hole maps incorporated on the Tee boards
