Good course but very congested

Nice course well maintaìned, but on a small area so some holes overlap so you have to hit over other players.

Greens are in great condition

Thought the whole course was well looked after, best greens I’ve played on for a while, fast and very smooth. Highly Recommend

Slow at Ryton

Positives: course in reasonable condition for the time of year, the area around the course is quite picturesque & pleasant and the green fee is very reasonable. Negatives: course is tight in places with public footpaths running nearby & across the course, this was made worse by a current local rule that fairways are not in use [visitors are instructed to play from semi-rough which makes approach shots very tight on some holes and brings trees into play], greens were a bit inconsistent with some running circa 30% slower than others and the pace of play was very poor. There is a sign near the 9th tee which indicates that it should take circa one and a half hours to reach it – it took us over two hours to get to the half way point and over 4 hours to complete the round due to exceptionally slow play from those that were ahead of us. From what we could understand it appears that some members are simply arriving and teeing off without booking a tee slot which is causing the course to back up. Rating would have been 4 stars if fairways had been in play and tee-off regime was fully under control.

Excellent value

First tee time of the day, welcomed by the greenkeepers, great conditions, course in good shape, great price. Would go more often if we lived closer. Travelled 40 mims at 6am in the morning to play here so that shows how good the course is

Ryton (Clara Vale) Golf course

Tight parkland course with the river on one side and the railway line on the other. Winter greens in play and mats on the tee which was not the best. Course was busy and some greens and tee boxes were close to one another, but enjoyed playing it. Would definitely go back to play it again, but in the summer this time. Beautiful setting though in Northumberland, with the river Tyne and the hills adding to the views.

Ryton golf club

Enjoyed the course but because of the previous weather it was a bit damp under foot in places. My only criticism was trying to find my ball with the amount of white leaves on the course because of the trees shedding

Waterlogged and make shift greens

Course was in an appalling state

Hole 7 pin wasn't even on the green was in the middle of the fairway

Hole 8 pin had a makeshift green and was tiny, real greens weren't in use but wasn't stated anywhere before booking that this was going to be the issue

Walked off at the 8th hole

No the wonder its so cheap

Won't be returning
