Bring on a bit of rain

Course very dry on a really hot day, not played here in a number of years but lots of changes, and for me not all for the better but still enjoy this course, I don't like hitting irons so I'm able to get my driver/3/5/7 woods out which is a blessing for me

Outstanding course and club

I played Hobson as a visitor using a hot deal golf pass voucher and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and standard of the club and course. From the range, the putting and chipping greens and the standard of the course which was outstanding. Greens were fantastic, fast, smooth and true. Highly recommend.

Great value for money

Played with two friends on Wednesday evening, both agreed the course was excellent. Very friendly pro shop. The greens were the best we have played this year, fast and true ( no bobbles apart from the new 16th green)

Windy game of golf at Hobson

Course was in good condition for our round with greens running true. However, a significant issue during our round was frustratingly slow pace of play until we reached the 11th tee after nearly 3 hours - subsequent pace improved significantly taking just over 1 hour to complete the remainder of the course. We noticed several players left the course after the 10th - suspect that they had run out of time.... 🤔

Nice course spoiled by slow play

Course was in good but not outstanding condition for our round with some unusual areas of GUR and preferred lies in play which was slightly surprising at this time in the season. Significant issue during our visit was very slow pace of play - it took us 4hours and 15minutes to get round including several extended periods standing waiting (for reference reasonable pace at Hobson for a 4 ball is circa 3hours 20minutes). Also we had a few puts "lip out" on some greens - on closer inspection it appeared that some of the cup sleaves weren't in properly which we rectified before moving to the next hole - can't imagine that the green keepers would have left them like this - suspect that one of the very slow groups ahead of us might have been leaving following players "a bit of a challenge" to contend with? The club needs to have a close look at what's going on as people will start to avoid the course in future if this sort of thing persists which would be a shame.

Good if you have time!

Nice enough course but pace of play was un-acceptable. Too many 4 balls stacked up with no awareness for letting groups through. Nearly 4.5hrs on a quiet morning.

first time playing here

first time at this course and it was soaking..not the club's fault but maybe in the winter put on winter tee mats as the tee boxes were waterlogged on 70% which was a shame. I would defo play the course again in the summer but wouldn't in the winter months. greens rolled well though considering how wet the course was.

Will be back

Originally due to play week before but course was closed due to bad weather… phoned pro shop and they re-booked no problem for the following week. When we arrived, there were still some winter rules in play where some fairways were mat play or take off to the side… understandably after the recent rainfall! and greens had been hollowtined and sanded so they were slow, the course was in good condition overall and would certainly like to return in the summer months. An enjoyable day a nice course with some good amenities like a driving range and the pro shop was well stocked and friendly. Will be back.

Nice to be back playing

With the course only opening that week we didn't know what to expect. Surprised to find it was only preferred lies on a number of fairways due to wet and repaired ground. The greens were in great conditiion and well kept, cut and steady as usual. There were a few winter tees in action but not many (par 3s and a par 4). Wasn't able to use MyEG as markers weren't set, unsure why so couldn't record an official handicap, best check with teh staff. Facilities were great. The range, putting greens and practice areas all in great shape. An excellent start to the year.

Hobson in the rain - suberb!

When we consider the sheer amount of rainfall we've had in recent days and weeks, the course was in excellent condition all things considered!

Tee boxes were more than usable, fairways were good, well drained, and greens were all in play and fully usable.

Especially considering the weather which has been foul, the course held up extremely well.

Nice surprise

I’ve drove past this course many times over the years but never had the time to play it.

Wow I’ve missed out over the years as it is probably the best value for money course I have played.

The layout, the friendliness of the club shop staff and course conditions were all top drawer.
